  1. I would like to like this place but I just cannot. In the recent month I was in Pattaya I didnt go into the place once. It really seems to me to be so inconsistant. Sometime you have draft and sometimes you dont. Sometimes I find that the music sets off vibrations through the place that has an unsettling feeling. I really dont have anything actually against the club, the location, the girls or the management but it simply is not for me and I end up at the Gentlemens Club or Windmill rather than bother.I did poke my nose in once only to find four girls on stage and no punters. In no way have I written the place off but for me the present formula simply doesnt work. I also asked for a card earlier this year and was told to bring my passport in so the idea of cheaper drinks was also off the menu. Best wishes, but its just not for me.
  2. Interesting observations. Whilst I am not a fan of the Booze Lounge in Soi Buakhao I do really enjoy sitting there watching the street theatre. I am also a keen observer of scooter driving ladies in short skirts and also those riding side saddle. I would go as far to say that the same applies to the Billabong in LK where the comings and goings of the dancers is a never ending source of enjoyment between 6pm and 7pm. Get there at 2.15am and if you see someone you like or know simply yell out "Fancy a drink".
  3. Good one. A prize for naming the kosher restaurant next to the night club! Perhaps Brisslam?
  4. I used to use agencies such as Sawadee and Expedia but have not done so for years. I agree that if you are new to the place then its possibly a good move but if you come a few times then you will find the areas that you want to stay in and the type of accommodation that best suits you. There is often a saving as I note that the listed prices on the accommodation site is often plus 17.5%. I try to pay afterwards by putting it on the credit card or when booking an apartment after I have had a look at the place. There is one other time that I might use an agency and that is if you are travelling to a new place. I used Agoda for Laos and Cambodia initially but the places were never as good as the advertising. The best way possibly is to ask on here and then do your home work. I noted a recent thread on Chiang Mai and if I get there I will be using boardies recommendations. I have already visited the web sites of some of the places mentioned and I would certainly book direct.
  5. Thanks for the report. This place was on my bucket list and you have managed to move it higher up the order.
  6. Thanks for the info. The prices are very reasonable. I look forward to coming there one night and making everyone happy by NOT singing.
  7. Atlas, good write up and appreciated. I would appreciate a run down of what the cost was. The only time I went to Thai karaoke I ended up with a bottle and beside the expense it was drank mainly by others. This is no complaint, just the fact that I didnt really understand the system. Can you buy a single drink? Do you have to buy a bottle and any other info.
  8. I look at Pattaya Talk as my Facebook equivalent. Sure, no girls here but all the info I need about the good, bad and ugly places to visit, stay and eat at are here. It also allows me to ask questions and get answers mainly from people who don't have an axe to grind. I have never used FB although I am signed up and seeing the crap that comes through I doubt that I will.
  9. I noted that in my mail.
  10. I think that the noise levels in Soi LK are directly related to the amount and growth of a'gogo bars.
  11. As far as I can recall the most that there have ever been in the Soi is 15, now reduced to 14. Some may argue that Amethyst is in fact a show bar rather than a a'gogo but not to me. The other place to add to this list to cover the area rather than the soi is Papagayo. As far as I can recall the only other places in the last two years that have departed the scene are Submarine and MASH. I did in fact mention in my most recent TR that I was happy to spend say 25 % of my nights here which is a change from the past in a major way. Fun House (now closed) Sugar Sugar Oscars Kiss Paradise. Destiny Queen The Office Showgirls Amethyst Bachelors Chrystal Lady Love Champagne Malibu Oasis (adjacent) .
  12. ...and I am wondering why you bother with a place/outfit that has issues with communication with its customers! There are others that I wont name that will ALWAYS respond in hours to your requests and charge 1000 baht, put it in writing and are extremely reliable.
  13. Now that really brings back some great memories! Thanks
  14. Last month I went for a guided tour of this place. It is new but was spotlessly clean and very well set up. The people showing me around were courteous and suggested that if I wanted the best deal that I contact them direct however I have seen all sorts of deal from as low as $US 37 on some of the accommodation sites and then some horribly high prices on others. The pool and shade looks OK and perhaps the biggest downer was the large construction site next door which seems to be kicking in. Has anyone stayed here or has inside info? I like the location and the rooms looked fine providing the price is right.
  15. Keenly awaited each month and it never fails to please. Keep them coming and remember that the truth is out there and we at home expect you to keep serving it up.
  16. Dont know the answer but I have found that drinking Ginger Ale following dental treatment helps me. Beside leaving a clean taste in the mouth it appears to staunch bleeding following an extraction.
  17. Yeah! I have just had a month in Pattaya and didnt get the dreaded Pattaya Cough and believe me that is rare as it happens almost every time. I did make two changes to recent trips and perhaps one of them was the reason. On my first day I opened the air conditioner but the filter was spotless so that didnt have anything to do with it. I had been reading that a cause of respitory issues was having the air conditioning too low. The variance between the outside and inside temps has to be quite gentle. In the past I have been setting it at 24 degrees overnight and this is quite cool and dry compared with the outside temps in Pattaya. This time I set the thermostat at 26 degrees and at no stage did I have any problems. This was the only change that I made so perhaps there is some validity to the idea. Mind you because Kay slept all bloody day I had an extra 1000 baht to pay over my previous power account but for me dodging bronchitis, it was a bargain.
  18. There are some great specials Auckland to various Asian destinations-via Malaysian!
  19. A woman is walking down the street and sees a sign in the pet shop window reading, "PUSSY-LICKING FROG £25" .. Curious the woman proceeds inside and says to the shop keeper, "I'd like to see the pussy-licking frog, please." To which the shopkeeper replies, "Bonjour!"
  20. I dropped in here the other day for a look around. I had a look say 3 years ago and wasnt that impressed but I know that places can change. Firstly you need to have a good look on their web site to figure out what suits your style. For me it was the Pink Studio. These are located to the rear of the complex and is very peaceful. The studios are free standing units consisting of a bedroom/table chairs etc and a separate walk in shower area. The setting is simply great and very tropical. The swimming pool is in lush tropical foliage with ample recliners and sun parasols. There is an attached bar for a pre dinner drink while you swim or laze. So far so good however the rooms are dated and need some work. Everything is tatty down to the old fashioned TV set.The rooms are dark and the one I had needed a good airing as it smelled stale. The rate was 1200 per night, reasonable value for a serviced hotel and the monthly rate was 24000 baht. All rooms have fan and AC. I could live in this place but only after I had tried a few others. The location is hard to beat however in the heart of Soi Buaakhao. Near to all but peaceful in those tropical gardens. You could do a lot worse and perhaps a bit better. Hope that this helps.
  21. I was in there having a look yesterday and will get around to writing it up in the next day or two.
  22. Great review and reminds me that I need to spend some time in Bangkok soon.
  23. LOL...........Promise not to beat myself up about these issues.
  24. Thanks for the party Adam. Great company and the food was tip top and tons of it.
