Last time in Pattaya I had cash on me and on the first day went off to the bank (150 metres away) and deposited it in my account and then drew down on it with my card as and when needed. Job done. Sure, I always keep about 5000 baht in the safe to pay overnight visitors etc. but knowing that motel safes are 'leaky' and not having a plan is a bit reckless. By the way, I bank at the Kasikorn and beside the bank being so close there is a spot where I can see three Kasikorn ATM machines without moving. This has turned out to be such an easy solution for me.

One of the problems of travelling is that you often get to eat alone. I do go to the Marine by myself mainly to indulge in their battered prawns. Delicious! The problem with eating alone is the boredom that comes while you wait and the Marine has a fix for this. Try counting up the spelling mistakes on the wall boards. Oh dear, thankfully the food is so much better than their language skills.

Like I believe others, have experienced, I can no longer use the above functions since the last 'upgrade' and wonder if there is a fix on the way or at the least a plan to get a fix?

I noticed the following story on PBS a day ago. It makes you wonder how many other companies will cancel flights over the next few weeks. I am booked on Thai Air and so far so good but it will be nervous times till the matter dies down. Singapore Airlines has announced the cancellation of 19 flights to Bangkok from January 14 to February 25 due to the political unrest in the Thai capital.

Do a bit of Googling. There was a topic here a couple of years ago about a swingers hotel in Pattaya. This might be a better bet that the Penthouse.

I also have an overseas card and started out using the banks ATM's at Big C however this same card will only get me 5000 at the BO Siam and 10000 baht next door at the Kasikorn. Therefore my suggestion is for the OP to take some time out and try some test runs on a few banks ATM machines to find out what the best deal is.I am sure that there must be one that will give him what he looks for.

It is always one of the problems of promoting yourself on forums such as this. get it wrong and you get pilloried. The reviews so far have been less than promising and I was looking forward to trying the place. I hope that the owners are taking notice as to the best of my knowledge the one thing that this forum is very good about is giving honest reviews on the food. I look forward to more reviews and perhaps some feed back from the management.

Seems that your problem is location. If it is difficult for you to get a Bells then any other suggestions that I have are just as useless. The last time I used Mr T (not Toom) BK/PTA it was 1000 baht so I wonder how far out in the sticks you are?

As with all else currency rates are similar to fashion and will continue to fluctuate. Whilst the OP mentions the $US, the world is in fact a small village as far as currency goes. Ask any Australian about this. Earlier this year there were more baht for the $A than the $US and now despite the non stop printing of American dollars the $US is worth about 14/15% more that the Aussie. Then again, the rate that I got earlier this week for baht for my New Zealand dollars was the best for possibly 8 years. Like many others I tend to go looking for the best rate of exchange when in Pattaya however common sense tells me its all a fools errand.Two of my major costs are paid from outside the country, namely accommodation and air-fares. I also buy baht or $US if the rate is right before I get there and the bottom line is that however much the currency fluctuates it will cost me or save me a few hundred baht a trip and is chicken feed compared to a single bar fine!

Next year I propose to have more early nights when I am in Pattaya and not to wear myself out. I also will give all gogo's and other paces where nudity is available a miss in order for me to not worry what I am missing when I have an early night. The excessive drinking has to stop and I will be cutting back -a lot. I will book into the Pattaya Hospital in order to have the nose growth removed! Happy new year. Signed Pinocchio.

Thanks for the Japanese art. Interesting but half way through I started thinking (and laughing) about the odd time over the years that some Pattaya lady has come out of the shower half clothed or swaddled with towels and got into bed dressed like that. They sure as hell wear a lot of clothes.

Jacko I am only ever in two phases. I am in Pattaya or planning to be in Pattaya. As mentioned elsewhere I booked my accommodation for next trip, last trip so I can therefore do both things at once!
