  1. What a mean minded response. Just because you feel the need to belittle someone who is trying to save a bit of money when its possible. I have used them many times and there have been zero hassles. By the way, the bar beside me has Chang Export Large on special at 65 baht. A cab fare with tip starts at 1100 baht.
  2. While on the subject, does anyone change Scottish Bank notes?
  3. Thanks guys. Some classic stuff here.
  4. To the OP. If you want to take her away from having sex with other men and to look after her daughter and family ask her how much you will have to spend. Recalling that on top of these expenses she has rent, food, clothing, travel, phone and so forth perhaps if you send her maybe 50,000 baht a month she will love only you.
  5. I noted tonight that Sugar Sugar are advertising a Halloween Party "Start 7PM close 6AM" That's serious intention to mourn!
  6. I just checked online with Kasikorn and they list it but their is neither a buy or sell quote so I have to say that I very much doubt it.
  7. Good man. Get involved even if you get bloodied now and again.
  8. Following the review I was looking forward to a visit to this place. I did not get there till after midnight last night and the old lady says "Normally we close but I keep kitchen open for you". I settled for a plate of quesadilla (?) and it was excellent and just what I needed. I will be back at a more godly hour to try the burritos and what have you. Thanks for the hint. I also mentioned somewhere that I had found a good breakfast place in the area called Palmers so imagine my surprise to find it next door to Sues!
  9. I was wondering if people buying in Pattaya would be wise to have some sort of alliance with a lawyer who would negotiate on your behalf? I feel sure that your negotiation skills would improve the longer you lived here but I also assume that there are pitfalls when you are not using your first language.
  10. Cummon Patna. Of course it was cheap. Half the food was raw!
  11. For my money Phil has set the standard for club management. His personal style was just what was needed in this town. His availability to redress mistakes and, because I have personal knowledge, his willingness to put them right is a breath of fresh air .I only a lot of other places would take the message and do something similar. Having said all of that I also am aware that people get stale and there is a regular need for being jolted out of your comfort zone so perhaps we should all see these move as very positive for all the mentioned people and properties.
  12. I arrived in Bangkok yesterday morning and could not get on the fully booked Bell bus so took a cab. It took four hours to get to Pattaya. As far as I can understand the washed out motorway (about 15 k North of Pattaya) was only on the incoming side however I do suggest that if time is essential that you do some homework whilst the rains fall. Needless to say the poor driver was pissed and almost ran out of gas as well as almost peeing his pants.
  13. Point taken but I wonder if the place is better because you can have the diversity? I will never get the chance to screw a Kenyan or a Russian except if I go to Pattaya. They really don't interest me and I would not go looking but I will always be open to something bit exotic.
  14. If you do your homework there is a 'happy hour' round about midnight/2 am. Its a lot more reasonable then.
  15. As far as I am aware the Irish Rovers in Soi LK is a golfers bar. Its in the thick of things and central for a rave up. There are others in the same soi that will arrange your golf and look after you at a reasonable price. Sorry the names of these places elude me but I am sure that others will know.
  16. Or. Bitch! Lets spend the night together?
  17. Thanks. Some good hints. I recall some months ago the Lone Star got a few poor reviews and it sounds as if they have taken notice and fixed things.
  18. One of the great joys of Pattaya is just walking around and blobbing out in the music bars. Second Road in the area from The Bodega, up past the Wonderful to the area opposite Kiss is a particularly good are for bands and there is also an Issan show as well. I also often finish my night in either of the two bars across the road from the Big C on Soi 2. Good heavy rock, reasonable prices, pool if you want it and a few spare ladies. What's not to like. There are some good live venues on Walking Street such as Candy Shack and Hot Tuna but the prices to drink there reflect the area. One place that has stood the test of time is the one sharing space with the Pizza place almost on the corner of Soi Diane and Soi LK. There is an older crowd here but the music reflects the demographics and this is a comfortable spot.
  19. Nah, your neither worth the time or effort. If the OP has you responding to his question you don't need me.
  20. Perhaps you might like to re-read my comment. I suggested that there is a good case to be made to make use of storage facilities when you are making short trips around Asia. I have flown to all sorts of places and have just taken a carry on. This has saved me time and trouble and I enjoy the freedom. Recall that the OP asked about flying on Air Asia. I have flown with them many times and like the experience but when I come to Thailand I usually bring my full quota of luggage and need to off-load some for easy onward travel. I have in times past not even left the airport after an international flight and jumped straight onto a flight to Cambodia. This OP asked for tips and information. I gave him these with pleasure in the two mails that I posted only to be shot down for so doing. If this is the way that an honest attempt to assist a boardie is treated then I may as well not bother posting here. I also answered as best I could about Air Asia, not Nok Air, not Bangkok Air our any other regional airline. As far as the publishing of time tables go well this information is open to all who own a computer. As far as opinion goes, well take it or leave it but don't shoot the messenger.
  21. Whatever. Sorry that I mentioned it when you obviously know it all and can speak for everybody. Perhaps some thinking rather than shooting from the hip might improve your aim
  22. All fair comments. I guess that I always go and eat before I start drinking so it has never been an issue for me. I am buggered if I know how a serious drinker can go out in Pattaya and not eat first. I would keel over if I wasn't well fed before drinking. Sure, I have been to PD on chilli nights but when I get there, there is usually nothing left and as pointed out just a normal crowd because the bottom feeders have fed themselves and left. I guess because I have never once been there when the food starts I have not seen the el cheapo rush.
  23. Have mentioned this before but the best place in Pattaya for smaller quantities that I have found is the pharmacy almost straight over the road from Soi LK on Soi Buakhao. Suggest that you get a quote from him (always seems to be a guy on his own) before you go elsewhere. Three months ago he charged me 50 baht for a single Kamagara without being asked. He stocks all the main brands including Apcalis gels and what have you.
  24. Mick. I take your point but what you are doing is to say that all draft drinkers nurse a beer to get a feed. This is totally incorrect and I think that I would spend possibly 5 baht to 1 on my lady drink to beer purchases from there and I often bar fine often. Ricky is a good host and recognises my value even if other don't. I would also point out that if you look at the other running thread on here Wobbly was accused by no lesser personage as MM for being a "Bar owner" and a "Shill" for PD. OK, he also accepted that Wobbly was possibly just enthusiastic about the bar. It also has to be said that Wobbly gets very enthusiastic and mentions the money that he will be saving when Leo and Chang is on special for 50/55 baht. Does this make him a Cheap Charlie? I ask nothing more than fairness and what I have said is easy to see on the other PD thread that is now running into 200 plus postings with Wobbly being by far the largest contributor. As a matter of interest, has he ever posted on any other thread?
