  1. Cummon Patna. Of course it was cheap. Half the food was raw!
  2. For my money Phil has set the standard for club management. His personal style was just what was needed in this town. His availability to redress mistakes and, because I have personal knowledge, his willingness to put them right is a breath of fresh air .I only a lot of other places would take the message and do something similar. Having said all of that I also am aware that people get stale and there is a regular need for being jolted out of your comfort zone so perhaps we should all see these move as very positive for all the mentioned people and properties.
  3. I arrived in Bangkok yesterday morning and could not get on the fully booked Bell bus so took a cab. It took four hours to get to Pattaya. As far as I can understand the washed out motorway (about 15 k North of Pattaya) was only on the incoming side however I do suggest that if time is essential that you do some homework whilst the rains fall. Needless to say the poor driver was pissed and almost ran out of gas as well as almost peeing his pants.
  4. Point taken but I wonder if the place is better because you can have the diversity? I will never get the chance to screw a Kenyan or a Russian except if I go to Pattaya. They really don't interest me and I would not go looking but I will always be open to something bit exotic.
  5. If you do your homework there is a 'happy hour' round about midnight/2 am. Its a lot more reasonable then.
  6. As far as I am aware the Irish Rovers in Soi LK is a golfers bar. Its in the thick of things and central for a rave up. There are others in the same soi that will arrange your golf and look after you at a reasonable price. Sorry the names of these places elude me but I am sure that others will know.
  7. Or. Bitch! Lets spend the night together?
  8. Thanks. Some good hints. I recall some months ago the Lone Star got a few poor reviews and it sounds as if they have taken notice and fixed things.
  9. One of the great joys of Pattaya is just walking around and blobbing out in the music bars. Second Road in the area from The Bodega, up past the Wonderful to the area opposite Kiss is a particularly good are for bands and there is also an Issan show as well. I also often finish my night in either of the two bars across the road from the Big C on Soi 2. Good heavy rock, reasonable prices, pool if you want it and a few spare ladies. What's not to like. There are some good live venues on Walking Street such as Candy Shack and Hot Tuna but the prices to drink there reflect the area. One place that has stood the test of time is the one sharing space with the Pizza place almost on the corner of Soi Diane and Soi LK. There is an older crowd here but the music reflects the demographics and this is a comfortable spot.
  10. Nah, your neither worth the time or effort. If the OP has you responding to his question you don't need me.
  11. Perhaps you might like to re-read my comment. I suggested that there is a good case to be made to make use of storage facilities when you are making short trips around Asia. I have flown to all sorts of places and have just taken a carry on. This has saved me time and trouble and I enjoy the freedom. Recall that the OP asked about flying on Air Asia. I have flown with them many times and like the experience but when I come to Thailand I usually bring my full quota of luggage and need to off-load some for easy onward travel. I have in times past not even left the airport after an international flight and jumped straight onto a flight to Cambodia. This OP asked for tips and information. I gave him these with pleasure in the two mails that I posted only to be shot down for so doing. If this is the way that an honest attempt to assist a boardie is treated then I may as well not bother posting here. I also answered as best I could about Air Asia, not Nok Air, not Bangkok Air our any other regional airline. As far as the publishing of time tables go well this information is open to all who own a computer. As far as opinion goes, well take it or leave it but don't shoot the messenger.
  12. Whatever. Sorry that I mentioned it when you obviously know it all and can speak for everybody. Perhaps some thinking rather than shooting from the hip might improve your aim
  13. All fair comments. I guess that I always go and eat before I start drinking so it has never been an issue for me. I am buggered if I know how a serious drinker can go out in Pattaya and not eat first. I would keel over if I wasn't well fed before drinking. Sure, I have been to PD on chilli nights but when I get there, there is usually nothing left and as pointed out just a normal crowd because the bottom feeders have fed themselves and left. I guess because I have never once been there when the food starts I have not seen the el cheapo rush.
  14. Have mentioned this before but the best place in Pattaya for smaller quantities that I have found is the pharmacy almost straight over the road from Soi LK on Soi Buakhao. Suggest that you get a quote from him (always seems to be a guy on his own) before you go elsewhere. Three months ago he charged me 50 baht for a single Kamagara without being asked. He stocks all the main brands including Apcalis gels and what have you.
  15. Mick. I take your point but what you are doing is to say that all draft drinkers nurse a beer to get a feed. This is totally incorrect and I think that I would spend possibly 5 baht to 1 on my lady drink to beer purchases from there and I often bar fine often. Ricky is a good host and recognises my value even if other don't. I would also point out that if you look at the other running thread on here Wobbly was accused by no lesser personage as MM for being a "Bar owner" and a "Shill" for PD. OK, he also accepted that Wobbly was possibly just enthusiastic about the bar. It also has to be said that Wobbly gets very enthusiastic and mentions the money that he will be saving when Leo and Chang is on special for 50/55 baht. Does this make him a Cheap Charlie? I ask nothing more than fairness and what I have said is easy to see on the other PD thread that is now running into 200 plus postings with Wobbly being by far the largest contributor. As a matter of interest, has he ever posted on any other thread?
  16. Another thing worth recalling is that you can leave baggage at the Left Luggage Office at the airport and only take what you want and this may mean carry on baggage which is a real bonus.
  17. Sorry Jacko but this is what he said, Draft beer ain't for me but I'm sure all the cheap charlies will love it. The reality is that there is no correlation between drinking draft beer and being a Cheap Charlie. There are many boardies here drink draft beer (and water and juice). There are some good reasons other than price. It appears to have a much lower alcohol level than bottled beer and it is also less carbonated so if you like to do some long term drinking it is perfect. On the basis of its alcohol level I would also point out that it is possibly the same price assuming that you are paying for the alcohol rather than the water. I also accept that some places do have draft as a lure to get you in the door and that's fine by me. There are a lot of places to visit that are only worth one drink and then its upwards and onwards. I will also say that in some places I would rather drink battery acid than draft beer because it is rank however there are some places consistently good including FLB, PBG, Babydolls Private Dancer, Mistys, Sapphire, Baccara, The Office, Queen, Champagne, and XZone to name a few. In view of the guy who made this post only seems to write about and to laud PD I am amazed that he is trying to single out draft drinkers to be of no consequence. Is he saying that draft drinkers should give this place a miss because they are nor welcome?
  18. Things to bear in mind. AA Check the weight limits for baggage. Could surprise you. Make sure that you check AA add on's such as excess baggage and that the ticket price includes all the airport fees. Make sure that you are always well on time as there are no rules of forgiveness! Other than these items I think that travelling AA is great but for the best deals open an on-line account and pre book.
  19. can't you understand that some people like draught beer? I would also point out that PD knows how to look after their beer and I have never had a bad one there.
  20. Really sad to read about the demise of Byblos. This place was IMHO the best in Pattaya some years ago and am sure there are some that will recall when it was on three floors and had possibly the raunchiest show in Pattaya. In addition to that they had a resident strong man that I got to know a bit and this was no act. He was as strong as an ox and neither tall or massive.
  21. I refuse to respond direct to some of the idiotic posts but IMHO if these detractors had ever been to the X Zone he would be aware that the drink prices there are possibly the lowest of any gogo in Pattaya. The post by The Fuck Wit deserves censure but then again as he is never likely to see the place its his loss and I guess that we have to be sorry for his inability to be grateful for a bar owner posting direct and wanting to add to the entertainment scene in Pattaya. That was a trully dreadful post and a line like this... ...She is a crap singer and the Agogo owner wants her to perform in his crap bar where degenerates go. ...should have seen you taking a holiday from the board. You are a total degenerate yourself by you own admission so perhaps you would enjoy this place more than any of us.
  22. Well after reading this response I am buggered why you are saving your brain cells!
  23. Religion aside, a very successful man once told me, "I never tell lies. There are so many lie options that I would never remember which one I used but there is only one truth". As I get older and more forgetful I realise the wisdom of this viewpoint.
  24. I think that some of you guys need to chill a little. Here is a place trying to introduce some live entertainment into a gogo setting. It's different and we need to give it a try before we get nagative. I would also point out that night club singer are totally different from stage acts. These people have to compete with chatting people, many half boozed, clinking glasses and of course too much smoke in the air. There might be a case for criticism if there was a cover charge and if any one had actually heard her perform at the X Zone but the fact that this is free and that she hasn't even started yet means that I believe people should suspend judgment until they have been there. I would also mention that some club performers have the ability to draw in the punters and almost have them joining the act. This is a special skill and again can only be judged by being there. Book me a "Ring Side Table" Nev!
