I was looking for off season accommodation in Pats and at "700 Baht up" for the Lodge it seems a snip for waht you get. Having said that I have never stayed at the Sabai and would like some boardie comment before I book the place. Any comments, suggestions, feedback, up sides and down?

Just saw this on the Sawadee web site. Hotel wing A will be demolished and rebuilt from May.01,2010 for 1.5 years - Hotel wing B and Residence wing will remain fully operate and open and there might be some disturbances from the construction site.

If my mind serves me right a visit to the pool at the Areca is not cheap but perhaps someone can up date this please.

Any thoughts on this place? I was there 3/4 years ago in a standard room and it was forgettable. I realise that there are balcony rooms overlooking the pool but I thought these a bit expensive. Any thoughts please as I have to say this is a great location and the pool, buffet and meals were passable.

At least the sheets in Soi 6 will be well starched! I honestly could not think of a worse fate than staying in such a place.

I guess that I have become cynical about Pattaya accommodation in that seems to me that the average response is never concilliatory. There seems to be a need for owners to shoot the messenger rather than put things right and repair the damage. Right or wrong, even in Thailand, "The customer is ALWAYS right" Come on guys, take some responsibility and rather than shoot from the lip invite the punter back for a free night to show how GOOD you are rather than the other alternative.

Re the management response. Seems to me that the client did complain to the room servive and the reception. Perhaps the staff are not passing these complaints onto the management?

I seem to see that a lot of places in the 1000baht and below price range have decent sized rooms-up to 55 mts but have ho hum shower/toilet combinations. I love a wallow in the bath and have room to move. Also a hair dryer and clean towels on a regular basis. Has anyone got any good recommendations on places like this.

As a matter of interest what would the rate be if you used a metered taxi? has anyone worked this out?

Same same. I have also got a cheapie by going up in the lift to the departure area. If you can get a cab going back to Patts it has to be a good buy, no parking or waiting for the driver.

I use AGV free version 9 and Adaware free and have never had an issue. Only proble is the 1 hour 40 minute scan. I am interested in those that use AGV and Avast, this is supposed to cause conflicts. I note that one member says there is no problem. Any comments?

Good advice and this is one reason that I use outfits like Sawadee because in essence they are out there negotiating with the management for the deals on my behalf. Sure they have to make a living but I always get a better deal with the agencies that the rates advertised on the individual web sites.

I too would be interested in this. I had a look at the standard Opey rooms and was not really impressed and the safe boxes were in the foyer if I recall correctly. Perhaps the Junior Suite has better appointments. I have however noted that studio flats can be had for as little as 15000 per month at VT6 and wonder if this is a one man option?

Going back to the Flamingo. Yes I am also sure that there are better places to stay but... 1. Its handy to some good pubs and clubs. (Heart of Darkness 100 mtrs) 2. The free airport pick up is worth $10.00 so than makes the first night only $15.00. 3. Its also handy to the Central Market and the large shopping centre. 4. If the roof bar is still open its a good place to hook up with others of a similar persuasion.
