  1. Samsung is having MAJOR problems with poor quality leaky capacitors in their TV.
  2. No, I haven't tried to book a room. The hotel doesn't meet my needs. Sky-Top is a better fit for me. I like a large room and Sky-Top has what I like. I like AC, TV, fridge and wired internet. The amenities I don't want to pay for is a pool, gym and overpriced hotel restaurant. When I travel with my family. I get to pay for all the amenities I don't use. Why? Because they use them.
  3. Thanks for the update. Saves me a trip to Jomtiem.
  4. I not only read post #3 but Cheshire Tom's post #4. CT stated they opened a place down south and it quickly established a good rep and does good business.
  5. As I said there are guys who don't want to pay for amenities they don't use. One of the many things I like about Pattaya is the wide variety of accommodations at various price points.
  6. I'm curious what do you base this on?
  7. MM, As a long time resident of Pattaya. What restaurants would you recommend? A short list of Thai and farang would be appreciated.
  8. Some guys don't want to pay for amenities they don't use. Tune seems to be a cheap Charlie special. If it's clean, well run hotel there are a number of BM this hotel will appeal too.
  9. I pulled the following off the internet: "A multinational chain of hotels has come to Pattaya with their concept of 5 star quality at 1 star prices. This is the second Tune Hotel in Thailand and with branches all over the world including the UK, Indonesia, The Phillipines and Malaysia, Tune Hotel, which is located on Pattaya Second Road close to the Pattaya International Hospital, it is a welcomed addition to the range of Hotels Pattaya has to offer. Tune Hotels operate a policy of the more energy and facilities you require, the more you should pay, which benefits those on a budget who do not require many facilities that other similar hotels offer and feel they should not have to pay for what they don’t want. Room rates start as low as 199 Baht per night and for more information check out their website www.tunehotels.com"
  10. I'm on Delta 283 from NRT. I'll arrange a driver from Mr T.
  11. I like Lung Sawai. Well worth the trip.
  12. I'm back in Pattaya this April. I'll get back to you with an address.
  13. Miles Davis, Kind of Blue. I listen to this frequently.
  14. I respect your opinion but there are a lot of forum members who like the food. BTW, I'm one of them.
  15. Before I answered your post I went on Emirates website and I was quoted a price of $900+ for the JFK-AKL r/t with all taxes and fees. I originally found this fare on flyertalk.com
  16. Try May 26 and June 16 return.
  17. It's on their website.
  18. The bank inside the Royal Garden Shopping Center ate my card. I was able to get it back within a few minutes. God only knows how long it would take to get it back from a ATM outside of 7-11? FWIW I carry a spare ATM card with me.
  19. Emirates has a great price JFK to New Zealand for $853. r/t, taxes and fees included. I'm thinking about booking a three week family vacation for May.
  20. Hats for the men and hair nets for women works well. I also like gloves for the kitchen staff. Gloves should be changed on a regular basis during the work shift. Years ago in Philadelphia, I saw the cook in a local restaurant I frequented. Help a man change the car battery in his car. The cook and I walked into the restaurant together and I saw him start preparing food without washing his hands. That was the last time I went into the restaurant.
  21. Airbus had a very good year. Congratulations are in order.
  22. The 787 entered commercial service last year with ANA.
  23. One way to possibly save a major hassle in recovering your security deposit. Take pictures of the condo before you move in and have the landlord sign and date the back of each photo. Let's the landlord know upfront that your a serious renter and you will have proof of the original condition of the condo. Do the same when you get ready to leave. A picture is worth a thousand words.
  24. I agree it's a great start. It's a big order. Well done Airbus!
