  1. Board members wanted to much?..........I find that hard to believe!
  2. I'm with the very fews posters who voted KISS, I like the place. Another cool spot is the buffet above the Pattaya Park hotel....The rotating restaurant....Excellent Mai Tai's!
  3. I'm sitting here on a Sunday morning with not much happening so I thought this would be a good time to ask a question that I've often wondered about. What does a top go go bar sell for? I'm talking about one like Peppermint or Dollhouse, I'm just curious, I see adds for gogo's asking 2 million baht but I would think this is a small one off a side soi....Am I right?
  4. I've been told that a farang can get a vehicle financed in LOS without any problems, is this true? I had a taxi driver once tell me to buy a car, have it financed, drive it for my three month stay then simply give it back a day before you leave. I don't have any desire to do any shady dealings like that but I was surprised that a farang could get financed that easy in Thailand....Can they?
  5. Well...I guess nobody has any info, I did have a chance to look into operating such a center however it's located in India...anybody ever been there or have any knowledge on the place? Thanks again!
  6. Hi guys, The company I work for in the States is looking at some options in Asia to open a call center for their sales team, do any of you guys have any information on this? I think they may lean more towards Manila due to the English language but I didn't know if this could work in Thailand? if it could I would be in line for a nice expat postion. Thanks guys...your help is appreciated! This forum could sure use a business and classified section!
  7. One thing I do when having clothes tailor made in Thailand is I always bring plenty of American made thread with me and have the tailors use it on my items....the thread that most shops use is very weak and always seems to fall apart pretty fast. I use a shop in Korat that's owned and operated by a Thai couple and they sew all their clothes in shop, excellent quality but takes a few weeks to get them finished. You can even walk accross the street and buy the material you like and they will write down the reuired amount needed.
  8. Here...Here...I second that motion!.... what the hell are you thinking? you have the means to experience life and you're worried about being blown up? Dude stop being an old lady and get your ass in motion! have some fun and enjoy what time you have left on this planet. You can die in a car crash while heading to work....but you still went didn't you? Now pull that tail out between your legs and get on with the things you find pleaure in doing! tomorrow you might find yourself bored with Pattaya..if so pack up your shit and go home, if the bombs start going off and the water starts rising put
  9. Alan, It's nice that you're trying to make a go of it at your bar but I honestly doubt that you could ever try anything that hasen't already been tried. Fact of the matter is you're in a business that very few survive....Hence the saying......Never buy a bar in Thailand! only thing you can really do is provide good friendly service, keep the girls looking sexy and hope the drinkers return again. I could only imagine the stress involved in trying to make your type of business a go....but you knew that before you bought into the dream!.....Good luck!
  10. Next to impossible!....took my wife two years just to get a fiance visa and we had kids together! they must prove that they have a VERY strong reason to return back to Thailand i.e. real estate, excellent career (bar girls will never get one), and the list goes on and on...Best advice is to forget it!
  11. Did you read what I posted??......I said they were acting like school kids fighting back and forth! same as the comment you made about mommy giving the KIDS too much candy! just so happens I have two of my own kids and your comment was way off base! I don't know who in the fuck you think you are? I have never had bad feelings with anyone on this board but that can all change quick! you seem to think you're shit don't stink but let me tell you something big cheif the comment you made is not something that anybody should joke around about! shows just how fucking mature you are! if you have somet
  12. When have I ever brought up children you sick fucker! I was making the coment because they were starting to act like school kids! I don't appreciate your fucking comment.....maybe that's your idea of being funny.....but it's not!
  13. LOL....Whew! you guys ever thought about teaching grade school? just a thought.
  14. Thanks for the input guys! In answer to a few of your questions, My wife's family is from Korat however we would have no problem living in Bangkok or for that matter anywhere in Thailand. My background has been mainly in the sales industry with the majority of experience being in transportation and finance. I've thought about our own business however my wife is the only Thai speaker and not very business oriented. I've found out a long time ago that if you start a business you better know your market and product, both of which I don't know enough about. I would really like
  15. OK....Here's the deal....My wife whom is Thai and currently living with me in the States really wants for us to move back to Thailand to raise our children and be by her family, I have a chance (due to medical reasons) for what they call displacment job training or schooling and I'm curious if any expats can throw some advice my way as to what type of training might be of most benefit for employment in Thailand? I have no idea what to even consider however I need to make some plans for the near future. Thanks for any help you may provide! Please hold the flames.....This
  16. No flame here as well! that's what this board is for.....The only stupid question is one that's not asked! Good luck with your search, I'm also curious to hear the responses!
  17. You might also want to visit a very helpful website www.escapeartist.com and follow the links for any country you're contempalting.
  18. I'd keep the real estate and turn it over to a property management company..They will take a small percentage off the top and deposit the remaining into your bank account (providing you have a positive cash flow each month), They can even take care of maintaining your property. This only means an extra income while in Thailand and if for some reason you should decide to return home you've always got a place to hang your hat! Besides the fact that you won't be paying any capital gain taxes and you still have the deduction, you also have the equity which you can borrow against..Trick is.
  19. I don't care if this house is IN the freaking ocean....30 million baht is insane! A fool born every minute!
  20. 2 to 3 million baht house? I'll rent it long term for 5k baht a month! In my opinion I think the rental market right now is pretty soft...I may be wrong but it seems like there is never a shortage of available properties. But it's all a matter of price....cheap...you'll rent it.....medium....might take a little time but you will rent it....High end......could sit empty for many months.....very high end....means you can afford for it to sit empty!
  21. Do you want to live like a farang or a Thai? This is a pretty open question but if you're looking for a western standard home with all the whistles then the prices you see in the adverts are pretty much right on. Real estate is the same in Thailand as anywhere else in the world....You're gonna pay for location. If you're really looking for western style house with a Thai price tag you better try another area...maybe Chiyaphum. There may be some deals out there but you're gonna need to jump pretty quick!
  22. I took both of elderly parents to Thailand a few years ago to meet my wifes family and they loved it! Didn't reed any visa requirments other than the norm and didn't need any old folks vaccines either. The only thing you might want to bring is medicine for the shits and be careful being out in the hot weather for long periods of time. The worst part was getting them to stop talking about it after they got home! two years later and they're still the town experts on Asia...
