To date, I've never seen a "super saver award" from UA. I only get access to "saver awards" on UA. If you were to use your "super saver award", what is the earliest date you could come to Thailand this year? The reason I ask is because, using my humble "saver awards", I was not able to find a single available seat PHL-BKK using united's web site. But then they don't give me access to the super stuff.

Htc Desire/hd2 Or I-phone 4/3gs ?
MM replied to LocalYokul's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Back in April I bought an HTC Nexus One (from Google). Last week, I dropped the phone for the first time, and the screen cracked. Having dropped a few phones over the years, I was surprised to not get at least one "free" drop without damage. I then did a google search on "Nexus One screen cracked" and found pages of hits. There's even a youtube video showing just how delicate the screen is. The HTC Desire has the same screen. You might want to read this set of posts before you make your decision. Now, all the Iphone users I know tell me they have dropped their Iphones lots of times, and not one has had a screen crack. I've ordered a screen replacement kit (2400baht) and will be trying that shortly. I also bought a jelly plastic protective wrap for the phone, so maybe next time I drop it, it will survive. -
Well, the reason is simple. By the time "football" was introduced to the USA, there was already a game called "football" that was popular. Rather than having the same name for two sports, they chose to use another word.

That's wonderful to know how much you spent. I'd have never guessed. I'm am sure Pete and Ben appreciate it. However, I singled you out simply because you were the only person, known personally to me, who has been in the bar and posted in this topic. Of course, when/if you come to the bar, you should know that it's your presence that is appreciated. You can stay all night without spending a satang, because we'll all be basking in the glory of your proximity. That's reward enough for us.

Which is why FLB operates under the laws of the civilized world, especially CALIFORNIA and the UK. And why I am not going to pay a satang to some Somchai who bought the broadcast rights for the series. And, furthermore, which is why I don't give a flying fuck about the comments of people who I have never met or who have never spent more than a couple of hundred baht in the bar (that one individual would be CheshireTom...the rest of you can kiss my ass).
-
I bow to the superior knowledge and judgment of those who know how things work in England and California. And, henceforth, FLB will operate under the laws of the State of California or the UK laws, whichever are more restrictive.

Yeah, you'd have to put it in his hands and make sure he closed them around the drink before releasing it.

By the way, Chris, we were offered a license from our Chang salesman, if we would buy some largish quantity of Chang. The guy said we'd have the rights to show the games because Chang had bought the right from RS to give out licenses to watch. Not being a bar where Chang sells well, I told him "Thanks, but no thanks." Frankly, I was offended by the obvious opportunistic thievery going on with the fines and such. The way I look at it is, I have a UBC subscription, and I can damned well show what I want on the TV as long as I pay for my subscription. I will certainly not pay for the right to allow me to turn my TV onto a channel I already get. If they want to make it Pay Per View, then make it PPV and let me deal with the broadcasting entity. Long and short...if they start enforcing it and fining, I just won't show World Cup. Up to them. They will also miss out on the commercial eyeballs they have been selling as part of their revenue.
-
Yes, but if, as the OP says, the police are coming around and warning people, then they smell money and will be enforcing it, perhaps illegitimately, or for a monetary consideration, they might ignore any infractions.

I think we owe England's goalkeeper, Green, a drink!

Because I have seen these aggregation sites (for hotels and flights) where, when you go to make the booking, the item is not available. I did follow up on this site's results and found they are valid.

You're right. Wrong board section, and I think you're prediction is wrong too. We'll know in 11 hours or so, when the game is over.

The Member's Bar is for discussion about Pattaya related issues...since this board is called PATTAYAtalk, that is where we talk about Pattaya. Your topic belongs in off topic, and I would venture to say that is what VicVegas was pointing out. And there it goes now.

Are you joking? The United FF program, using the "Saver" awards that they advertise are absolutely useless for flights to BKK from the US. I spent a month trying to book a Saver award (65K miles) for an economy seat and could never find a booking that got me there and back on any dates I chose. I don't think booking far in advance helps either, because it seems they only release the seats a few days before the flight. I was sometimes able to get a flight leaving in 1-3 days, but never was able to get a return leaving a week or more after that. In order to use the FF miles, you have to use the STANDARD award level that eats up 130K miles for an economy seat from USA to SEA. I hear there are ways to datamine a saver award by reviewing the load figures, but that's too arcane for me right now. In short, the FF mile program gives you the miles, but makes it near impossible to use them. For example, I just tried to book a one-way flight from SFO-BKK. The first available travel date using FF miles (32.5K) was Nov 22-Nov 26 (odd...isn't that Thanksgiving?). So, if I were willing to wait 5 1/2 months to fly...during a 5 day window, the FF program would be great. Well, assuming you can actually get a flight from USA to SEA for 70k miles, that is better than using 65K miles for flights where you cannot find a seat!

Using LTGTR's reference to kayak, I did a search for SFO-BKK return, leaving on Nov 17, returning Dec 22 (one of my daughters has 5 weeks vacation), and the lowest fare came up as China Air at $922. Are these valid numbers? Is kayak accurate, or do you have to add in a lot of taxes and such to get the correct fare? Edited in: After getting the fare list from kayak, I selected a ticket purchase directly from China Airline's site. There was an even lower fare, which, after taxes and surcharges was $863. On the outbound trip, there is a 2:45 layover in TPE, and a total of 17:50 flight time. Why am I using UAL? On the return flight, there 55 minute connection with 17:50 flight time. Great! I just paid $1920 for a BKK-SFO economy roundtrip with only the outbound portion upgradeable. Time to burn those UAL miles and switch carriers. Or is this too good to be true? One more EDIT IN: Following up on those same dates, UAL has a fare with one stop (NRT) for $981 all in, so it's not so bad. I chose dates just before Thanksgiving and just before Christmas to see if it would make a difference. It apparently does.

All problems resolved now.

Pattayatalk site has been down for about 3 hours as of now. They are still working on the problem, and it might be "iffy" for the near term.
