Yes, it's been repaved. There are some rough spots where drains were paved around leaving drops to the drain, but overall, it's much better than it was. Prior to the repaving, driving down 2nd road was akin to being in a boat with heavy wave action...now it's pretty smooth. They probably won't need to repave for at least another 6 months

When I was using the Thai Royal First ticket, they assigned me a Thai guy who drove like a typical Thai, prepared to run over pedestrians and honking his horn to get them out of the way. When we got to the boarding area, the descending stairway to the main floor where the final check in occurred was full of waiting passengers. He just shoved them out of the way while I followed as he loudly proclaimed VIP VIP. A couple of huge Africans were forced to step to the side, and they gave me a couple of very dirty looks, and I was hoping they didn't catch me alone somewhere on the way. It was sort of intimidating and quite rude on the part of the Thai employee, but I found it somewhat comical to be treated as someone "special". I had paid a grand total of (I think) $51 for the ticket, since it was using frequent flyer miles.

The way we went was via Soi 87, and there were two or three big holes in the road taking up one of the two lanes where they had placed barrels around them, but no warning lights or other hazard signs.

It's a fairly long drive through some rural areas where things might jump out at you from the bushes.

Those ravioli were delicious, I have to say. As you said, the marinated avocado with shrimp and tomato didn't look that great and certainly is not photogenic, but it was very tasty with just the right amounts of seasoning and a decent amount of shrimp.

A number of girls have gone home prior to Mother's Day. I've noticed a significant drop in numbers in the gogos.

I'm guessing that's out of EP's travel area. I too have heard good things about it and seen reviews, and it's almost too far for me to travel for a meal, and I have transport. EP doesn't. BUT.....since you are a darksider, how about you go there and tell us about it? Take your camera (I doubt your phone has picture taking capability, or did you upgrade it from our dinner at the PBG? EP, yes, the couscous are very good. Did you have them on Saturday, because I was told they made them only on Saturday.

LOL. Ulysses! That is one I just haven't had an interest in. I suspect it's as difficult to read as Canterbury Tales. Yes, I have read and enjoyed Clavell's books long ago., I was really impressed by the movie...George Segal was great in that. I can't recall if I read the book or not, because the movie sort of eclipsed my memory of the story.
