  1. Haven't stayed there myself but comments on another board are that it isn't guest friendly. Joiner fee is 500 baht.
  2. I just meant the rugby I try not to think about the football given the state of the Welsh team
  3. Bollocks. If you want biased commentaries look no further than prize prick Nigel Starmer-Smith, and if you want to top it off with a ridiculously poor grasp of the rules (especially for such a capped player) then Brian Moore's your man. I'm not saying that Davies is impartial but he's a damn side better than most of the others, its just he's a rarity in that he doesn't lean towards your lot.
  4. Pattaya is easy to get around, baht buses are cheap and plentiful and will get you close enough to anywhere you need to go thats too far to walk.
  5. Had a great night out in Cardiff last year watching Wales play Scotland in the Millenium stadium, fantastic atmosphere and no trouble at all. Bit like going back for the rugby really.
  6. Hard to say about the time from the airport to Nana as it all depends on the traffic, anything from 30 minutes to an hour +. As for the flight, two words - sleeping tablets. Its the only way I can manage long plane journeys without cigarettes and also means you'll be raring to go when you touch down and won't be wasting valuable LOS time on non-essentials like sleep
  7. pattaya@hoteldelamer.net hoteldelamer@hotmail.com Tel: (038) 711005-6 Fax: (038) 711006 Not a bad place, stayed there for a few days in March. Probably a bit pricey for what you get but the location is great. Ask for the top floor facing Walking st and you get a sea view over the top of the 7-11 opposite. Be aware though that what they term suites are just marginally larger rooms.
  8. Mailed them twice last week, got a response the following day both times.
  9. Haven't stayed there myself but I've been told the Deluxe studio is a better room there than the Sapphire Suite, if a little smaller. The price is the same.
  10. Flown with Qatar quite a few times and I like them. Modern planes, plenty of entertainment options (loads of games/films/music etc) friendly staff and the food is almost edible I don't mind the stop-overs in Doha either as the airport is nice enough and it gives me a chance to jack up my nicotine levels for the next leg of the journey. If you're looking at various different airlines you may want to check this site out Link I've found it useful in the past
  11. The only prep work I do before leaving is shave my balls, which most definitely pays off
  12. Haven't stayed there myself but have heard good reports from the Grand Business Inn, Soi 11. Room rates - double: 1500, suite: 2000, premier suite: 2500. No pool but the location is good, it's guest friendly and its only been open since around Jan so the decor should still be pretty fresh.
  13. You can get the same price with Thai until the end of June. opodo.com
  14. Can't say I knew Om but it sounds like she'll be greatly missed. My condolences to her friends and family.
  15. Just got back from Cardiff. What a day!!! Fantastic atmosphere in the stadium during the game and some of the best singing I've heard at the rugby in years. Good to see that our under 21s side won a grand slam too. Roll on the world cup!
  16. Rascall, I think by saying the pool isn't private Hub is referring to the fact that its at the front of the hotel right by the main road. The room I stayed in there had a large fridge and a TV in the bedroom but I recall other posters saying this wasn't the case for the rooms they had. The aircon was very efficient (had to get up and turn it down once after setting it a little over zealously and waking up cold in the middle of the night). No bath, just a shower, and the water pressure was variable to say the least. Couldn't fault the place for cleanliness at all. As for the safet
  17. It all depends on how far you're willing to go from the airport really. My flight next month leaves too early for me to travel to Gatwick that morning so I'm travelling down the day before and staying overnight. I found the cheapest airport hotel was the Travel Inn which worked out as £50. Seems a rip-off considering what you can get in LOS for the same money but there you go. I figure the prices for hotels at Heathrow will probably be much the same. If you're willing to travel a bit further from the airport you'll probably find somewhere a bit cheaper.
  18. Less than a 10 minute stroll to walking street. You can flag down a baht bus outside the hotel easily enough. I never tried getting a taxi from there other than to go back to bkk which the ladies at reception ordered for me. The breakfasts are nice, I prefer to have mine sent to the room and eat it on the balcony. It's only a short baht bus journey to jomtien beach (5 or 10 baht depending on your preference ).
  19. Qatar are a good airline, I've flown with them quite a few times (always in cattle class though).
  20. Not sure about DVDs but I think this is the thread you want for watches... http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11910
  21. I land an hour before you but will be staying in bkk that night as its the BangkokTonight forum monthly meet-up
  22. I flew from Samui to U-Tapao in December and there were quite a few taxi's waiting (I hadn't bothered pre-arranging one) as well as the bus. I can't remember how much I paid for the taxi in the end but as livermore said it was about 35 mins to get to pattaya.
