I've my gold card #4 with Thai Airways. I get a free upgrade each time I renew my gold card - every 2 years, but more important is that I'm upgraded on 50 % of my trips to BKK. Also used my miles to buy a lot of free tickets and upgrades.

Orange/True has not a good quality in Pattaya, but if you go to Andaman coast south of Ranong down to Phuket it's the best, much better than 1-2call and DTAC.

I guess that all internet casinos and poker sites are blocked in Thailand. I heard from a guy who same years ago stayed with a girl in her shared apartment in BKK. There were so many shoes outside that the police raided the apartment twice that night as they suspected gambling. If you watch the local TV-channel in Pattaya you can sometimes see thais arrested after playing card, under 1000 baht on the table gave jail sentences of 3 months I think. So probably not the smartest thing to play internet poker in Thailand even if it's possible. -
He carried more than 100,000 dollars in cash and declared it, thai police informed IRS.
-
It was IRS asking for that the man to be jailed as he carried that much money, the source is quite reliabe as he's a department manager of thai special branch (his wife work as immigration officer and always brings me to the diplomatic counter so no waiting for me).
-
You're correct joekicker, but the thai police will report it to IRS if you're american else other tax authority. I've heard a case where they kept the guy in jail for more than one week before they got a confirmation from IRS that the money was legitimate. So use the bank system for sending money to Thailand.

Remember that USA and EU have forced Thailand to have the same regulations - never can bring bring more than 10,000 USD in cash and TCs.

The room rates of hotels also show the seasons, here as an example from Sabai Lodge, Pattaya Deluxe Large Pool 20 Dec - 10 Jan 7 days Chinese New Year 2,150.- Peak season periods conditions : Minimum 4 (Four) consecutive nights compulsory stay for check in during 24 December – 2 January. 1 Nov - 19 Dec 11 Jan - 31 Mar 1,750.- 1 April - 31 Oct 1,450.- -
It's not really new, been there for more than one year (2 I think), I haven't stayed there but you see pics on the website of Sabai Lodge link

San Miguel + the Lite don't taste anything like the real San Miguel which is good. I also prefer Chang. If you enter Mike's Shopping Mall from the Beach Rd you'll big sizes (up to 5XL I think) in the small shops.
-
Note that Patong is often 50 - 100 % more expensive than Pattaya, so you get less for the same money in hotels and restaurants.
-
Family Mart and 7-eleven shops are not selling sim-cards but all shops selling mobiles are, for example on the 2nd floor in Central Festival ("Big C").
-
There's one lady selling LV and other rather good copies in the market beside Tiffany's, but if you want better quality you must go to BKK and Bankapi shopping center.

Maybe the wife of one of the many filipino english teachers (some say more filipino english teachers than farang now in Thailand), else I've seen filipinos and filipinas working in big hotels like Shangri La as entertainers - music bands. -
Yahoo report the offshore rate which is less favourable, use this from Bangkok Bank instead Link

As this an open forum can't comment too much but Soi 22 is the favourite nightlife scene of some of my expat friends in BKK. -
Note that the period you asked for isn't high season, it's peak season. You can compare the pricelist with the sister hotel at the opposite side of Soi 2 Sabai Lodge

Probably not impossible if the condos as an association lease the land instead of owning it as the purpose with the law is to stop farangs controling thai land. As already said consult a lawyer before buying and signing anything.
-
It's correct, in a newer condo building just 49 % of the condos can be owned by foreigners. It's possible to use a thai company to own 1 of the other 51 % condos but it's against the law if the thai majority owners not used own money to pay for the shares. Completely legal but risky in an other way is to have the condo in the name of TGF. Oh, there was a 10 year period exempted from this rule in some tourist places, something like 1987-1996 or 1989-1998, so in such buildings all 100 % can be owned by foreigners.
