I reached retirement and financial independence goals this year and wouldn't you know it the world shuts down. My Jomtien experience over the years is mixed. I like the beach and enjoy morning walks 10X more than Pattaya. The trade off of Chinese and Indians is offset by Russians who if there is a line bulldoze to the front like they own the damn concession or bathroom. The food and service is overall better although I think I got food poison at the Hilton Seafood Buffet last trip.....stick to the street carts. It would appear they have too many Kitchens in Pattaya but with the cheap labor if you can get an average $10 USD per customer there is strong profit and with the popularity of Pattaya I see more profit in a Kitchen than selling tourist crap or a beer bar. With a beer bar you need just one big night to pay the bills for the month but a kitchen it is a slow grind. In the USA the labor cost, regulations, and taxes make any type of Kitchen a fools dream. Evil you eat out allot what's your opinion on the profitability of most places you visit?

Last two trips I booked KAL with a decent price but it included two 50lb bags/boxes....this is huge to some travelers but useless to me. I would gladly travel with carry on only if the savings were significant...that weight allowance has to have value to the airline.

Nice review and nice room. The quality of girls in and around LK Metro has me considering that area on my next trip. MC Taxi 60b to WS is reasonable as they were charging me 100b from soi 5 to WS. LK Metro to WS or Soi 5 60b...so I guess anything on Beach Road gets you tourist rates. Pattaya is a construction boom town and every new condo has to decrease the value of the existing units. Every Mall has a model of a new condo community under development with a special deal to buy in now. I cannot imagine a scenario that would make me buy into a condo in a foreign country as the internet has made it so easy to acquire anything on a temporary basis at an affordable price as long as you have cash in your pocket.

I booked with Agoda on my Pattaya trip and they were listing prices that did not include tax...the Hotel rate was 1,500B inclusive so I was only saving 5 bucks and using Agoda I could not cancel the reservation.

Gotta love being a newbie and having the power of a smart phone to let you know your location....took me some 4 years and 8 trips before I could get from Walking Street to Soi Bukaho without getting on the Baht Bus headed to Jometin Beach.

Curious why you booked so far out? Do you think rooms will be short supply during that time frame? I have stayed at both Flippers on Soi 7 and Soi 8....nothing special about either except that Soi 8 Flipper is noisy as fuck if you get a room facing the street...Soi 7 not as bad but booking that far out avoid a room facing the street.

The diesel version is what I want and what you cannot get in the US. I have a 2003 F-150 has over 250,000 miles and nothing more than replace COP and some vacuum lines and still runs great. If there are 140 passengers coming into UTO how long do you think to clear customs and get transportation into Pattaya? Wondering if the slow processing time and long line to get a cab will make it a frustrating experience....I just can't see the Thai's staffing allot of customs people at that location.
