I had problems with the online-reporting system today.I tried from 2 different locations, home and an internet cafe, and had the same problems on both occasions. There were problems with the security certificates and I kept on getting messages that the page was unresponsive. In the end I gave up and have resigned myself to a trip to Soi 5 in the next few days.

Can you do the conversion from the 30 days to Non-imm in Jomtien now. Last year the authorities had a clamp down on the activities at Jomtien immigration and you had to go to Bangkok to do the conversion. If this is still the case you will need to apply with 15 or more days left on your stay as they give themselves 14 days to make a decision. Hope this works out OK for you in the end.

There's a stage set up at the Beach Road end of Pattaya Klang for a Police and Crime Suppression unit event scheduled for 7pm this evening. Maybe not a massive rvent but bound to be some disruption to traffic.

Up to you but there are plenty of Thai places in the area which have pictures of the food you can choose from.

Personally I think the Thai food at Kiss is dreadful. Prices might look reasonable but portion sizes are very small. So many places in the area do better food it's hard to know where to start.

They've now built a 'Jet Ski Dispute Assistance Centre (Kiosk)' oppposite Soi 9 on Beach Road. I don't know which of the parties will get the most assistance though. :)

I never went to Tropical Berts and haven't been to the new place but, if it's the place I think I have seen advertised,it's a bigger bar / restaurant with a swimming pool. It looks like a really nice place.

The foods good at Nickys and it will save you a trip to the dark side.

Bit of a leap to link an article about police hassling tourists in Bangkok to a round up of mainly Thai 'vagrants' on Beach Road. The power balance between the military and the police may have changed since the coup but the government has bigger problems to deal with than beach road. As Misteregg pointed out the Thais do not have the legislation in place to deal with this issue. I would suggest that they have much higher priorities to deal with, such as implementing a new constitution, before taking further action on Beach Road where the problems mainly occur after midnight when there are fewer people around anyway. Its easy enough to avoid walking along Beach Road at night, why put yourself at risk for the sake of a 10 baht baht bus ride or a c40 baht motorbike fare,

This sinkhole first appeared on the path behind the beach at the bottom of Pratumnak Soi 5 after a storm about 4-5 months ago. It has been getting steadily worse. You can still get past it on foot, Just waiting to see a motorbike at the bottom of the hole one day.

Why do you think this will change anything? Beach road clearance operations happen with monotonous regularity. The hookers rounded up are charged with vagrancy, fined 100 baht and released back onto the streets unless they fail the drug test.☺

Just a heads up to anyone thinking of going up to the Pratimnak area today. The electricity company are carrying out maintenance in Kasetsin (Cosy Beach) and Soi 4 and 5 areas. According to the notice on my condo the power is scheduled to come back on at 5pm.

I've read in a few places that there will be a problem with turkey suppliez in Thailand this year. Apparently they aren't importing birds from the USA because of avian flu. You might need to rethink this. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if this turns out to be the case.

The jet skis are operating again. Haven't seen any reports but assume that 'normal service has been resumed.☺
