  1. 2 1/2 hours is more than enough time to get through check-in and security at Manchester. If you want to give yourself a bit more leeway try checking-in online then you only need to be at the baggage drop 90 mins before departure. Have a good holiday. TG
  2. Good to see you crawling out of the woodwork again now the convicts have wonw one. LoL
  3. Don't have a thai girl friend so that's not a big problem but thanks for keeping one of my gik's in rice while I am not in town
  4. It maybe easy to get to for you from the East Midlands if you can get to Stansted directly, but anyone coming from the western half of the country is likely to have to catch a train into London, get across London to Liverpool Street and then get the Stansted Express back out to the airport. Cheers Tallguy
  5. Do try to keep up with the programme. Yesterday's game was a T20. There is a second T20 on Saturday which is then followed by 7 50 over ODIs. Cheers TG
  6. Are you sure this is a return price. Just put in similar details and £297 is the one way price. Return price is £497. In addition with airlines like Air asia you will need to add on charges for checked baggage plus any meals and drinks, which you are likely to need on a 12 hour flight. Also, unless you live near Stansted it is a pain in the arse to get to by public transport. I looked at this option at Christmas because of the high price of flights from Manchester at the time. However, when adding on all the extra costs, including travelling to Stansted I wasn't going to save muc
  7. FAF. I didn't know things were so bad you needed to reduce the number of haircuts you have before you go home. You've probably saved about 200 baht. Now you can have a few beers down New Plaza
  8. Wrong You can order from the Golf Club menu and they will bring the food over to the Metro.
  9. Writing this in a lounge at Qatar airport. Got out of Manchester without any major problems. Hopefully I'll be out on the lash in funtown in about 9-10pm Pattaya time tonight.
  10. Joe The English FA is not the best run institution in the world and generally deserves most of the criticism which comes its way. However, your criticism of their behaviour in relation to Olympic participation and the recent world cup bid is misplaced. If you re-read nidnoyham's comments you will note that. 1 The four home nations agreed 2 years ago that participation would be limited to English players only. 2 The British Olympics Association insists that all players are eligible. 3 The other three nations, (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), are worried that to send a mix
  11. Yes Joe they have football in the Olympics. However, if you had done any research you would know that this was nothing to do wth the English FA kissing the Swiss crook's arse. As nidnoyham has tried to get through to you, the British Olympic Association is responsible for entering British competitors, whether teams or individuals, in the Olympic games, therefore any entry into the Olympic football competition would be on the basis of a Great Britain team. However England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all have their own Football Associations who run the game in their respective
  12. Which hotels have you been trying to contact? I've generally had quick replies from hotels I've tried to contact, e.g Sabai Lodge, LK Metropole, but have had occassional problems with guesthouses because they have had problems with their e-mail system at the time. There's probably an element of luck of the draw as to how quickly individual businesses respond. Good luck TG
  13. Its a lot more relaxed than, say the Beer Garden in Bangkok. FLs by the bar will not hassle you and you can always sit on terrace away from the bar. They even have two sided beer mats, display the green side if you are looking for company, or the red side if you want to be left alone.
  14. Mick Bali Hai Pier is not a bar. It is a relatively large public area at the south end oh Walking Street, which the city authorities use for celebrating events and festivals such as New Year, Chinese New Year, etc. The festivities will often include livebands, fireworks etc. As far as parties on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are concerned, most bars will have some sort of party on these days, I've already seen things mentioned for FLB and Secrets, but a lot of bars will not advertise until nearer the time. It will be much easier to suss out these things when you arrive in town and
  15. Maybe the potential development of the Liquid Lounge makes number 5 then.
  16. Dennis has posted on the Metro Apartments blog that Jason from Champagne has bought Kilkenny and is rumoured to be going to turn that inro a go-go, that would make 5 go-go type bars if you include Club Blu. There was also talk earlier in the year about Liquid Lounge being turned into a go-go but I understand the owner has other priorities at the moment. Personally I am concerned that the new go-gos will just see a thinning out of talent from the existing go-gos. In addition to the bars actually on Soi Lk, there is Oasis, Baby Boom on a side Soi of Buakhao opposit Sawasdee Hotel, and Papa
  17. The price will depend when you are flying, whether its a direct flight, and who you are flying with. Your price probably reflects that although you are travelling in high season you are flying out relatively early. The price increases significantly the nearer you get to Christmas and New Year. This year I paid £776 with Qatar to fly out from Manchester on 21 December, returning 5 Jan, however there is an 8 hour layover in Doha. I would have preferred to go with Emirates but they were charging over £1200 for the same dates. I'd be surprised if anyone is offering £500 flights over the
  18. Number 1 in January 1971, just under 40 years ago, so if you remember it from then you must be mid 40s at least Only joking. It was probably played a lot on the radio later on as well. TG
  19. Pretty sure I've heard this at a few go-gos, mainly shows at places like Angelwitch and LD showcase, but also others that try to copy them. Cheers TG
  20. I'd rather have a burger from the Aussie Burger stands thany of the other stands in the area.
  21. Copies are also available on abe books, cheapest copies are shipping from the US so packaging costs are higher than from the UK.
  22. Emirates currently have some 'deals' for travel between 15 Jan and 14 April, (need to book by 15 October). Prices not brilliant from Manchester, cheapest seems to be about £559 but might be worth having a play around to see if you can find a flight that suits your requirements. Good hunting. TG
  23. According to the website, www.dynastyinn.com, the free shuttle offer still applies although the wording suggests the free service applies to the Bangkok - Pattaya route. Might be worth sending an e-mail to check if the offer appliers the other way. Regards
