I had arthroscopic surgery for a meniscal tear on my knee over 20 years ago in the UK, so cannot comment about costs. However,I can say that the recovery time was relatively short, (I was in my early 30s at the time so recovery may take longer for someone older). Contrary to what Teelak has said about the difficulties of recovery, I walked out of the hospital unaided the next morning and was able to use an exercise bike within a week. The recovery time for reconstructions will be longer and requires the need for walking aids such as crutches and knee braces. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been looking at flights for my annual return to the UK over the last few days. Qatar was already the cheapest for BKK- Man business class return by some distance, but just typing VISA into the promo box saved an additional 9500 baht. Cheers TG

The Robin Hood Tavern in The Avenue (updated Dec. 6, 2019)

Don't think so. The main owner is a guy called Simon who owns Retox on Soi Lengkee and Retox Game On in Soi Honey before that he was the main shareholder at I-Rovers. -
I wouldn't put Shenanigans failure in the same class as Acorn and All American. In the early days Shenanigans did get people through the door, customers didn't mind paying the extra for better quality food and a wider selection of drinks than the typical beer bar, together with aircon. They also had a following from when they were located in from of The Marriott where Diceys is now. The two main things that hit Shenanigans were; 1. the decline of western exchange rates following the financial crisis of 2008 which made customers think about how much they were paying for food and drink,

The Marriott is now called The Avani, I don't know what effect the change has had on prices. It is probably about 20 mins walk from Soi 6. Most hotels in Pattaya have in room safes so that should not be a problem. If being close to Soi 6 is really important look for places in North Pattaya, sois 1-5. The Sabai hotels are pretty good, but it is a while since I have stayed in any of them. A mate of mine has stayed in The Blue Sky on Soi5 a couple of times recently, which is a newish hotel and has rooms for around 1500 baht.

I think TT increased their spread over the holiday period. The Stg rate shown at TT reduced to 43.2 even though it would generally have been around 43.8 if they had maintained their usual spread with the market rate. Now the markets have re-opened the rates have returned to their more typical levels.

44.05 in TT about an hour ago.

I think that Havana place is on Beach Road north of Soi 1 in front of one of the big hotels.

Under 300 Baht ... And Good! (updated July 4, 2022)

Metro Apartments has had a long standing arrangement with the Golf Club. Bars like Drunken Duck and Kilkenny do their own food but some of the other smaller bars may have a similar arrangement as the Metro. -
Yes, but you might need to think outside the box. Avoid the English style pubs which offer the Xmas dinner menus. Some of the Scandinavian and German places might be worth a look as they tend to do their specials on Christmas Eve. Also it might be worth considering dining a bit later after the Xmas lunchers have finished. One of the great things about Pattaya is there is no shortage of places to eat.

From the school at the junction of second road and Pattaya Tai the baht buses run to Jomtien, they go past the lights at the Thappraya Rd and Phratumnak but that's as close as you will get. If you want to go directly to one of the sois of Phratumnak you will need to do a private hire.

Under 300 Baht ... And Good! (updated July 4, 2022)
tallguy replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Hi Evil thanks for another good report.I have not eaten the roast at The Coins but a couple of years ago I did eat at the roast at the old 18 Coins,(the owners/ management of 18 coins moved over to the Coins a while back). If you had ever walked past the 18 coins at that time early on a Sunday afternoon you would realise why they would be sold out at 7.30 pm, the place would be packed out. They probably sold out a lot earlier. The one time I had the roast there they were doing a chicken and pork combo, (I avoid beef at that price level), the chicken and pork were both tender, and the rest of -
Bad At Any Price- Updated Aug. 9, 2017
tallguy replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
I haven't stayed at the Lek but did try the breakfast years ago when I was staying at the Dynasty and have never been back. On the one hand it put me off all similar, apparently cheap, buffet type meals. However, occassionally when travelling around I have come across worse breakfasts which were included in the room price. -
Internet 90 day reporting...broken for all or just me?

Possibly a browser problem, were you using Internet Explorer? It could just have been a temporary system glitch, the system does not seem to be 100% reliable. -

There is a 7 day grace period, so shouldn't be any problem at the airport if you are only 1 or 2 days over. After 7 days there is a 2000 baht fine but I don't know how strict they would be on enforcing this at the airport. -

www.immigration.go.thClick on the 'notification of foreigner staying in the kingdom more than 90 days' button on the left hand side of the page. You need to provide passport details, arrival card details and address details. The system is only compatible with Internet Explorer for entering the details. If you need to go to Immigration in person you will also find details of what you need to provide on the www.immigration.go.th site. Basically its just a form and copies of the relevant pages of the passport and departure card. I think that once you have reported and have a printout with a ba -
It's a company that operates many exchange booths in the Pattaya and Jomtien areas. They normally offer the best rates available. There are many pictures of the booths on the forums.

I tried yesterday and the system wasn't displaying the CAPTCHA password at the bottom of the 1st page. Tried just now and got the 'server bridge error' message. Still got a couple of days left were the online reporting will be available, otherwise its a short detour up Soi 5 when I am in Jomtien next week. -
I think that has more to do with events in a hospital in Bangkok than the strength of the dollar. TT showing 43.55 for GBP and 35.6 for USD this afternoon.

The new Retox Game On is airconned the previous bar was open.
