You did not say what Nationally you are. I have a U.S. Passport, and the U.S. Embassy will sign a statement of your income without any checks, and you can then present this to Immigration as your proof of income. Don't know about other passports.

You might want to buy a laptop in your home country (Probably cheaper there) and then take your hard drive with to to Pattaya. Here you can go to Tuk Com and for a small fee, you can have someone transfer your data to your laptop from your hard drive, and also they have available every conceivable program there. Tekkies work for 1/10 the price here as Westerners, IMHO

O come on - You will be at risk for only a couple of hours, and it makes it to Bangers most of the time...

I agree that there is always at least 2 sides to every story, and I have removed the questionable statement. I do not know either of the 2 named persons, so it was not them. If the owner wants to call me out, then i am more than willing to come out with both barrels blazing, but I have written it off in my mind.

Watch out for some Faring landlords! I rented one in Jomtiem, had to pay a lot of deposits (phone, broadband, etc.) that turned out to be false, and he simply pocketed the money. He also required a copy of my passport. After 3 months when I finally realized that all of these deposits were fake, I read the fine print of the lease only to discover that he could change the locks at his discretion even if the rent was current) and lock me out for no reason. I moved out at the end of the month, only to be subjected to extortion, demanding extra monies for fake charges, and if I did not pay he t

Has anyone seen this software for sale at Tukcom? I might want to try it out.

Being a Yank, I cannot help, but I would start by calling the Embassy in Bangkok. In the U.S., My TW will get my government pension if we were married for at least 2 years, and she is at least 60 years old, as I remember. Not a bad deal for a Thai, as upon you demise, your estate only gets a few hundred dollars, and none of your children get a dime if they are of age.

I stayed there last year, and it was O.K. - Basic, but clean and new. I think that it was GF, but I was with a TG and didn't try to butterfly. The main reason that I chose it was the wired Internet in the room (7th floor), but it was a bit dodgy most of the time. I think that I paid about 1100 Baht, inc. 2 brekkies. I would stay there again

MrMango replied to mickeylo's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
If you were a BG, and a good looking black guy and a old fat, white guy were in the bar, which would they gravitate to? Easy, the biggest wallet... Come here and have a good time, we are all minorities here... -
Self storage in central Pattaya?
MrMango replied to galt67's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
There is one in Jomtiem. As you go to Jomtiem, on the right, where all of the "Boys" sit around there is a high rise building with a sign on it, advertising self storage and water beds - What a combination! -
What kind of a rental are you talking about? Women, cars, or apartments? Never pay upfront for the first.

Guys the quote is a misprint. There are not 72 virgins, but one 72 year old virgin.

Go for it! Try there, as a lot of Board Members go to Malaysia to get their visas. The alternative would be just to come to Thailand on a 30 day arrival visa, get a 15 day extension, and then do a border run - Not difficult, but it kills a day and you are ready for 45 more days. There are Visa services that you can use that fly to Penang and get your 90 day visa in Pattaya. Don't worry too much, as it seems to work itself out here.

Maybe get a cheaper place - I had a nice Condo in Jomtiem for about $20,000, and I have read where BM have condos for $7,000 U.S.$ Remember the rule - Never invest in Foreign countries money that you cannot afford to walk away from.
-
Why not have your Friend/family member fed ex one to you here? There also are several "Mail Boxes Etc." type places in Pattaya that I'm sure would accept a Fed Ex (Or DSL) package for you for a small fee. In addition, My TW and I have an savings account with Bangkok Bank that is linked to Visa - Not exactly a Credit Card, as we must preload it, but it works fine.

When I lived in Jomtiem, I did not have a choice - TOT was the only one with broadband in the Condo. Unfortunately, after 2-3 months, I still could not get it to work, and ended up moving. I understand that TTT is far better with customer service, as they actually have English speakers on the help desk. Be aware that your speed will be pretty slow at times, with a lot of outages, sometimes lasting for days.

A small point - When I click (and hold the click) on the box that says "Mark all topics as read" (Or something like that), the color changes so that I cannot read it - Picky, picky... Correction. When I move the mouse over this area, I cannot read the text

I used to live here - Great place for my TW and myself, but a landlord who was an asshole - The moral - Read your lease VERY carefully.

You might want to wait to see if the F/A go on strike next Friday. If they do, it could force the airline into Liquidation.

I would ask which Hotel has beds that are not as hard as a rock, not the size. Most Hotels floor is softer than the beds...

Great site - Does anybody know of a similar site for travel from the U.S?

If you are a member of their FF club, (Silver or up), you get an additional 20 KG baggage allowance, plus you can check in at the Business Check in counter, which usually are much lenient on such things as over weight charges.

I see no reason to share. I used to live in Nevada, and have several Corporations based there, all done for a nominal cost. As for an address, There are a ton of Mail Boxes etc. there, and any search will get you a contact.

The rule used to be your connection within 4 hours of your arrival, or the the next available flight out to your destination, otherwise it is considered a stopover. I have taken advantage of this rule many times flying to the Orient. I would book my flight SFO-TPE with a stop in hong Kong using Cathy Pacific. The flight arrived in Hong Kong after the last flight to Taipei left Hong Kong, so they would put me up in a Hotel for the night, gratis.
