The taxes in this country are getting bloody ridiculous now. Sure we have "free" health care and "free" education, but the vast majority of working brits I speak to would just love to "up sticks and go abroad!". Seems to be only immigrants want to come to good old blighty now! all the workers have had a guts full! ok rant over! ill have a j.d. and coke now and chill out! lol!

I agree with the other posters! Dealt with them about 6-8 times, always got the ticket on-time, good price, they book the seats etc, cant fault them!

Thai do have the best range of flights , definetly! Eva land bangkok at 16.00 ish though and not 19.30.I have mostly flown Thai, this time for March I booked Eva though! Practically the same price, but personally I think Thai are going downhill, I mean the cheaper tickets only get 50% mileage, and their i.f.e. in economy is rubbish! So for those reasons Im going eva this time (far better i.f.e. (travelling with family so will be a big big bonus!) , if all goes ok I will probably use them regularly too!
-
As far as im concerned competition can only lead to better fares for us!? Also if they do get it going, as somebody has already sasi, maybe they will have good fares for business/ first class? May be a better opion (depending on price of course!) than thai, eva b. a/ qantas! Anyway! on a happier note! ive just booked with Eva for thailand! wheels up ,12 weeks as of 21.30 last night!

For £50 extra I would probably go with thai. Actually I have been going with thai the last few times. The only good thing I find about them is the times and frequency of their flights. (plus if you get the midnight-ish flight frok bangers you get into heathrow at about 7 in the morning!) H aving said that! B.A./Qantas, have practically the same timed flights as thai! The main reason I fly with Thai, is cos the missus is thai and she likes them! Alos cos of their frequent flyer club, BUT! they only give 50% mileage accrual with most economy tickets now. I have heard only good things about Ehi

I hope to go around about march 22 or 23, I will book it in January. I have gone easter time for years now! in the past ive phoned up various shops, and when I thought I had a good deal I would book it!Of course sometimes I have had real bargains, and once or twice, if I had waited aweek or two I would have got a ,better deal! Its swings and roundabouts really!,but this time I will wait until January! As has been posted earlier West East travel are really good!

I normally fly Thai from uk to los. I dont think their service is any better than most other "decent" airlines. The main reason I fly with them is because they are one of only 4 airlines which fly non-stop to los! Last but one time I went with eva in the new 777s. That time I flew elite, but I would rather go economy with eva than thai, based purely on their entertainment! I will go with thai next March, cos we will have enough miles to come back business, using the Thai frequent flyers program!

I have a card with HSBC. I ve used it often in pattaya atms! I "think" as long as it has "cirrus" written on the card, you can use it most places! May be worth you notifying your bank though, that you will be using your card in thailand!? Because one trip (i think it was the last one!), I used the card once, the next time it wasnt accepted? i think thats purely a safety measure for you though. (ie bank realises you dont normally withdraw money in thai! only in dismal blighty! so it stops the card from being used!) hope this helps!

In march, i bought a suzuki smash for 20,000 baht (they even threw in 2 helmets and a jacket!). it was about 6 months old. however my wife is thai, so she did the paperwork, they also threw in some insurance too. So maybe a thai has to "buy" it. If you know any thais maybe its better ro get them to sign for it. According to my missus, whoevers name the bike is under, then that person is culpable for all responsibility for it! If that is correct, get a thai to sign for it!

This time last year i flew elite class to bkk. I used 5,000 miles from Evas frequent flyer pregramme, to get an invite to the "london lounge". This was done at evas ticket desk, and not at check-in. Best thing was, the 5,000 miles i used to pay for the pass were "dead" miles anyway!
-
Ive used it twice! Its alright too, usual stuff, free drinks, light snacks and showers, tv etc. It has an "upstairs"! too, which didnt get as busy as the ground floor! Not luxurious , but miles and miles better than just trying to find a seat in the departure hall!

Residential areas near Pattaya
marleyboy replied to Trvlr's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
As for "average", prices, well how long is a piece of string? eg. you know anybody on the "average" wage? or the "average" family? Try looking (do a search on google or somewhere), for pattaya real estate. You will get hundreds of sites, of agents, properties, pictures, prices etc.! As for areas near pattaya, there are loads! If you havent been to pattaya before, it is hard for you to even comprehend the locations!, pleanty of beaches nearby!, obviously the majority are in pattaya/jomtien! Your best bet , would be to take a look around pattaya and area, but as i say, do a search, you will -
Residential areas near Pattaya
marleyboy replied to Trvlr's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
As in most other places, the "location", is the major factor in price! Obviousy too, the nearer the beach you buy, the more expensive the condo! Maybe try doing a search for pattaya real estate agents? (that said you can get a "better" price, if you buy "private", but real estate agents will give you a rough idea!). Hope this helps! -
Wel, i tried again just now, and........... the message was sent this time! So fingers crossed!
-

I went elite, london to bangkok in november and wasnt too impressed! There was slightly more seat space, but for the extra money it costs, i wouldnt pay it again. Wish i had tried the "old evergreen deluxe" in the 747 though! everybody raves about them!
-
As the previous poster 200 only! Its more if you come from an E.U. country though! Saying that i always bring back 4 or 5 packs, to sell! If you get pulled, they can take them off you at customs!,but! my wife was once pulled, she had 1200! and they didnt say anything! they were more interested in the thai food she brought back!
-
If the ticket you buy is V or W CLASS, you will get 50% mileage! Other class of tickets and you get 100% mileage accrual!
-
cheers again gus, (i owe you a beer or maybe mekhong and coke!) just applied for one and they will send me one off in 7-10 days. ive been looking for another credit card, preferably one which gives out air-miles! but couldnt find any! but the lounge discount looks good! plus theyve other discounts !
-
nice one gus! ill have to check out their website! sounds great!
-
as said before depends how much you drink! seriously though i paid about £17.50 for the servisair lounge in heathrow, in march, decent seats free drinks, snacks (crisps etc)newspapers etc. last year wnt into the london lounge twice , cracking in there! showers etc! dont know how much it costs to go in there though! although in november last year i used 5.000 miles from evas frequent flier club, to get me access to the london lounge. so all in all i reckon its money well spent! (especially if youre going economy!-at least you get a bit of comfort before you fly!)
-
ive been going to thailand for 20 odd years now, (pattaya about 15) i feel much much safer walking around pattaya than in the uk. (theres no way youd catch me walking around alone in the early hours of the morning in cardiff!) just as everybody else says use your common sense! dont take the piss out of the thais! (surprisingly a lot of farang do! , and the majority live to regret it!) youll have a great ime there!
-
oops! forgot to say when booking by phone some companies charge a fee (1% or 2%!ish!) for using credit cards, so its cheaper to use a debit card!
-
ive seen prices lower than that for may! some direct too, try someone like e-bookers, travelmood, east-west etc etc! they are usually the cheapest options! in over 20 years ive only booked from the "high street" once!
-
im flying out the end of the month myself, and im pretty sure the situation has now been resolved! (but! im sure someone else will be along shortly to confirm or otherwise!)
