  1. loads of room yesterday! I had 3 seats to myself!...................STILL! couldnt sleep though!
  2. I don't know if you've gone yet Gus? I'm at heathrow now waiting on Thai 911 flight, I asked at check in how full the flight was (I'm in economy,!!) the guy at check in said about 100 empty seat.?? It will be a first for me with so many empty he said the spare seats will be towards the rear? So I will keep my eyes open as the 2 seats next to me are occupied!
  3. Im only here once a year for a month or so. When I get my bike filled up. I just use the old "bottles!"(found in most sois). The type where there is a small shop which sells fuel, fixes bikes etc etc.........Maybe a bit over the top...but I prefer to use them as opposed to the service station type places!
  4. Glad you've got it all booked up! Im going over next week......Im sure you will have another great time there!
  5. Im "hoping!" it will be A.V.O.D. From what Ive read up on..all Thais jumbos out of L.H.R. "should" be refitted with the A.V.O.D...................That said.......Thai are notorious for last minute changes! This is the reason (lack of A.V.O.D.0 why I changed from Thai onto Eva. Im flying with Thai on the mid-day flight from LHR in less than 2 weeks...........hopefully it will have A.V.OD. if not Im taking my ipad and kindle anyway! Im really hoping the flight isn't too full though.........................but every time Ive flown Thai..........they are rammed!
  6. 1,000 baht per night doesn't get you much in Bangkok. I have always stayed in the Sukhumvit area, if I have stayed in Bangkok. Try taking a look on the usual websites, eg..........asairooms, agoda etc. 1,000 a night wont get you very much though............especially in high season.
  7. I have used West East for every trip now for about the last 7 or 8 trips. "Once or twice", I have had a better price given to me over the phone? May well be worth giving them a ring Gus?
  8. As far as I know they do. At least they still advertise it! (saying that? Thai have a history of changing things at the last minute!). I even looked into flying via Helsinki with Thai, a few years ago, just to try out their premium economy!
  9. Ive done it......but that was in the 80s! I used to spend my winters in Thailand. Every year Id go to Koh Samui from November to March/April. I would get the train down to Surat Thani, Then a bus to the port and a baot over to Samui. Twice I also got the sleeper train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. I thought they were great then! (I was in my 20s then!). Id love to get the sleeper train again ......one day one day! I obviously have no "recent" knowledge". but I thought they were great!(years ago!)....... You would get your bed made up, and be able to get a few hours sleep!
  10. I prefer Thai to Eva personally (now that they have installed A.V.O.D. into their 747s)). Also the times (for me anyway!) are better. I also don't think £400 is worth it for economy deluxe on Eva. I just wish Thai would introduce a "deluxe economy" (reasonably priced!) on the LHR route! They do it on other routes...........obviously they don't want it on the London routes , As for which Thai flight (night flight or morning flight from LHR) is likely to have more empty seats? I don't know! I assume the morning flights would be less busy............but I have only my logic for thinking
  11. Ive never! been on a Thai Airways (or Eva come to think of it!) which has had many empty seats. I normally go in January, though in the past , Ive also gone in March. As I say though, NEVER! have I seen many empty seats! Maybe the odd one, but never seen many! Im going with Thai, on the noon flight on January 16, last year I went about the same date.though that was on an A340 (I think!) In January its on a 747 (allegedly!). As I say. last year I went with Thai, for about the 8 ish trips before that I went with Eva. For me? I much prefer a noon flight leaving Heathrow, and then the early
  12. Hmmmmm I go January 16 and return February 14..........a couple of "dry" week-ends for me then! (It will give my liver some rest anyway!).
  13. I tried that! But they can only (as far as I can see) be ordered online, and there is no option of sending a message or option of which denominations you want?! I will try again in a few weeks though............hopefully the site may have been updated! to enable me this option!.
  14. I use mostly Travellers Cheuques. I also take some cash (plus I usually have a fair few thousand bahts left over from previous trip!), then I may use my debit card, sometimes credit card too. Personally I think T.C. are the easiest...........for me anyway! Plus some (H.S.B.C. do anyway!) will give you comissionless T.C. delivered to your door! The only "drawback" I find with this system (I mean when the bank sends them to my address) is for some reason, they will always give me a fair few hundred pounds worth of £10 and £20 or £50 cheuques! This is a pain , as I.M.O. they are such a sma
  15. Quite right Tom. Pattaya is a right old mess.! I will drive cars in other places in Thailand.but no way would I drive a car in Pattaya!
  16. I ride bikes only in Pattaya. No way would I drive a car. Other places in Thailand (Chiang Mai is a great example!) are great for driving, the police there also do a decent job, of helping the traffic flow, as opposed to "some" traffic ploice in Pattaya, who are on the lookout for easy money for themselves! IF EVERY TRAFFIC LIGHT IN PATTAYA HAD A SIGN TELLING YOU WETHER OR NOT YOU CAN TURN LEFT ON A RED, there wouldn't be this thread in the first place! There aren't signs , at every traffic light, telling you wether or not its permissible to turn left at that particular traffic signal
  17. Duly done Khun Bratpack sir. I still cant see where I wrote. I turn left, when there is a sign prohibiting a left turn whilst waiting at a red ? I did write I turn left when its safe to do so? turning left when there is a sigh prohibiting it, isn't safe to do so, neither is jumping out of an aeroplane, safe to do so (without a parachute). I could go on .and on, and on, but you get my gist? Please tell me how my post is "crazy"? im intrigued? Please enlighten me with your vast experience and wisdom kind sir?
  18. Whats so crazy about that? Read the post again, I never mentioned anything about turning left when there is a sign prohibiting it???????????????? read the post again. Not once did I mention turning left when a sign prohibits it. Ive been going to Thailand for 33 years. If you are so naïve as to think the B.I.B. in Pattaya aren't corrupt? You must be visiting some other place mate!
  19. This is Thailand. I only turn left on a red..............if I see others doing it, or if no Police box, or evidence of police there. Ive no idea if it is legal. What seems to be "legal though? is the corrupt Thai police choosing wether or not it is! then wether or not they decide to fine you for it! Obviously, I only turn left if safe to do so! Ive even waited at a red , until some Thai turns left...then I will follow suit. I never drive a care in Pattaya though, just a scooter...............and that's becoming more and more rare.............nothing to do with the traffic..more to do wi
  20. Thanks for posting. I love pics from yesteryear........as I hardly took any pics over the years Ive been going to Thailand. Its great to see the places and scenes!
  21. Have a search through the forum. You can then decide if it will be "profitable" a little more.
  22. Theres not much wrong with somewhere like Chiang Mai! For me, as Im (aren't we all!) getting older! the drinking every night would become much less of an issue! Id be happy going out a few nights a week. The beach? Well as the beach in Pattaya is crap anyway! That wouldn't be much of an issue either.not much of a beach to miss! Its much more "laid back", in Chiang Mai (and lots! of other places in Thailand too!) than in Pattaya, Sometimes its a bit too frenetic in Pattaya for me (I don't live there .....just a month a year Im in Thailand!). I went to Chiang mai for 4 days earlier this
  23. Thanks for all the replies! Just to say, I booked my ticket today on Thai Airways! I paid £660 that's from Heathrow to Chiang Mai. Sure, I could have got a cheaper flight.............I prefer Thais departure times to Evas. So for me, as I like to fly direct it was the best option. The add on to Chiang Mai was only 20 odd quid again on Thai Airways...so it was a no brainer! I like to arrive in Bangkok in the morning.....and arrive in London in Morning or at latest early afternoon time. As I say, I could have got a flight to Bangkok for under £500....BUT!! The flight times for me
  24. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, If only! Ive been in Business 2 or 3 times . London to Bangkok......but never in first.......that's going to have to wait until those elusive 6 numbers turn up! lol! Thanks for posting, Next time I fly Thai (ECONOMY!) in January............I will remember this post!
