  1. I just booked (well last week!) a flight Heathrow to Bkk for September this year. I paid £480 (could have got Eva cheaper but I prefer Thai flying times).
  2. I like it! They seem quieter than the 747 or the 777 too. Going over I had 2 seats to myself...but coming back the plane was practically full. I "think" though, that if you leave Heathrow on the Thai 21.00 ish flight....they still use a 777. The service was good though...(as its always been when Ive used Thai).
  3. I arrived 06.00 From the ThaI TG911, flight in January........ I expected massive queues.......but was very pleasantly surprised! One of my shortest "waits"! ever.
  4. Ive used the Full Love Inn a fair few times.. Also the girls will always know of other places!
  5. im just back from Pattaya. I staedy on the darkside, (though not as far as the lake!). I stayed in Soi Khaotalo...............never ever had a problem getting a motor bike taxi back from Pattaya to the "darkside"... Cost me 100 baht either way....
  6. I usually stay in "my"! (well I bought it....but it belongs to the ex wife!) house.........I always book a few days each trip in a hotel though..I always book them online...as sometimes you get some stupidly low prices for them!
  7. Sorry! I mean the A380 with Thai! .... I was writing , what made sense in my head!!....but obviously not on "paper"!!! I will be retiring in a few years......so will probably go to Thailand 3 times a year.... Fare prices will be more closely looked at then! So could well be using airlines such as Oman in the future
  8. Ive "thought" about using Oman Air before (but from Heathrow). The only thing that put me off, was there was a long layover (I cant remember on which leg though). I looked at online reviews and they seemed pretty good. The A380 is a great plane to fly in too. May well use them sometime in the future though.
  9. When that happens.. I will have to invest in some sleeping tablets!!!
  10. I will be booking the fast-track for the January trip! As you say, arrival time (for the mid-day flight from Heathrow) at Bangkok is manic! I went with Thai in September (evening flight from Heathrow) and there was hardly any queues!! (mind you I walk VERY fast once I get off the plane!). As you say though, early morning in Bangers...EVERY! time I arrive that time...there is a massive queue! So in my opinion. its worth the 800 baht for fast-track............. Just hope I have a bit of space next to me in January!
  11. I have used both Eva and Thai for many years now. I prefer Thai, for a couple of reasons. I prefer the departure times of Thai, I like the A380s too. I went over in September with Thai,,,,,,,Night flight from Heathrow, on a 777............I had a seat spare next to me...which me and a quite cut e Thai girl.(well woman actually!) shared..Coming back from Bangkok (night....well early morning!) it was on an A380 and I had 3...yes 3!! seats to myself....had about 6 hours sleep on there.!! The A380 is also quieter and smoother as has been pointed out..... Only thing I dont like about both Thai and Eva? To get mileage accrual on their frequent flyer programmes is hard....I mean you only get say 25% of actual miles flown with the "cheaper" tickets.. I got 25% in September...and I will get 25% in January.... Im a bit of a "hypocrite" whereby I "prefer" the late evening flight ex Heathrow.....but I was so impressed with their A380 that I will be flying on the mod-day flight on January.............cos its using an A380!! I fly economy all the time (only ever been "bumped" once into Business......that was ok Phillipines Airways many years ago from Gatwick!). When Thai used to give 100% mileage on all their tickets......i also flew business 3 times.... I will say that in all the times Ive flown with Thai , only once or twice (well actually 4 thinking about it!?) only on 4 legs have I managed to get either a spare seat next to me once...and 3 times Ive had 3 seats to myself! As for Eva? NEVER! had so much as even A single spare seat next to me!! Maybe Im unlucky?
  12. Jeez! That looks good! Im going for 6 weeks in January, I was very happy to pay £515 flying with Thai
  13. Here you go! https://www.bangkokflightservices.com/home/bfs-services/premium-airport-services/
  14. When I say happy.............I mean happy that its hit 45.after all the brexit malarkey etc! Just a few years ago, it was around the 43 ish mark.............took a few years to get up to 50............. I aim to retire in about 4 years time........Will be spending about 5 or 6 months in Thailand every year then........Id be happy if its 50 or more then!
  15. That will do for me! Im there in 3 weeks time...........I would be quite happy to get 45 baht to a pound.
  16. And I second (or is that third that!) to keep em coming please!
  17. Thanks from me too! I know can get the rates "online".............but this is much better. Cheers for taking the time to post.
  18. With all the recent "turmoil"! I will be "happy" if I can get say 45 baht for a £ when Im there in September. I do look online from time to time , at the banks rates..............but thanks for posting....much better to see the actual street rates! Cheers.
  19. Im only there for 12 nights in September! I arrive September 27 and leave Oct 10......... January trip will be way better! Amost 6 weeks then! (thats more like it!). Yes its still 30 Kilos with Thai........So all good there. Happily meet up for a beer..................or two!
  20. I live in South Wales..........so its O.K. for me.......Plus I work on the railways, so have free train travel. I went in January this year with Qatar.........they were good too......but........ a direct flight I find much less hassle.....the older I get!
  21. Im going to Thailand for just 13 nights in September......Booked with Thai Airways for £480 ish. Im also going for 6 weeks in January. "Usually" in the past , when Ive booked for more than a month with Thai Airways, the fare is a couple of hundred quid dearer.. Ive just booked for 6 weeks (leaving January ) for just £511...........Very good price methinks! On the Thai website it was £519...though I booked with West East for £513.......i booked "over the phone"...........but if you book online with West East........its just £511!. Only "downside" is.........You will only get 25% "mileage" with R.O.P.
  22. Ah.............I should have read the thread properly! Years ago I used e.bookers to book a flight from Bangkok to Heathrow....?
  23. I use West East travel in London 99% of the time....Good fares with them...(I always fly economy though!).
  24. Thanks for that heads up. Funnily enough I was going to go there earlier this year, when I had an eye infection. Thinking, as its smaller......... it may be "cheaper"! Apparently not then!
  25. Im Welsh, I would be amazed if they win...........Realistically, I think if they dont lose by more than 2 it will be a result. Belguim looked great against Hungary....Just hope , Wales will show their usual passion....then "hope"! the result goes their way..................... Very much doubt it though!
