  1. Cristal Palace (Naklua Road - opposite soi 14) has some decent rooms for 300 Baht / night (if you negotiate). This hotel is somewhat out of the center but on a busy Bahtbus route.
  2. Soi 14 off Naklua Road. Apartment next to the Attaporn place. Rent is 2.500 baht per month (excluding utilities).
  3. and what's the difference with previous prices ?
  4. There is a nice furniture shop on Sukhumvit Road in the direction of Sattahip some 1.000 m around the corner of Treppasit Road. It's called someting like 'SCB furniture / Index'. Bought some real nice stuff. For lights I would recommend a shop called Lampitude. This one is located on Sukhumvit Road almost opposite Boonthavorn. Happy shopping !
  5. I do a lot of things (except work). These may include a lot of sports, some shopping, a lot of walking around (sometimes for hours), traveling through LOS (mainly Isaan) but also to Laos, Cambodia and Birma (no, not for visa runs). I don't plan too much and if I plan something the plan can be changed by the minute. Of course once in a while I go out for some pleasure. In the past I have also teached internet and computing in general to a number of ladies. When I started living in Pattaya I attended Thai classes.
  6. Jacko, thanks ! Have you got any info on auctions ? Where are they held and how are they announced. Aso other info on this subject (i.e. markup on highest bid etc.) is welcome.
  7. Useful information ! Thanks....
  8. Nidnoyham, did you buy this car new and if so, where did you buy. Would you recommend this dealer ?
  9. I have decided to buy a new car. To be more precise: an Isuzu or Toyota pick-up truck. I went through various forums looking for information, hints and tips on this subject and found out that in general it is recommended to buy a new one as second hand car prices are relatively high. New cars come with a warranty and have no history of accidents and bad maintenance. Also a good insurance seems to be very important. My question is which car dealer (-s), preferably in the Pattaya area, would you recommend for buying a Toyota or Isuzu pick-up truck (or: which dealers should be avoided). Your advice will be appreciated.
  10. I can recommend 'Pattaya School of Languages and Computers' located on Pattaya Klang about 100 meters east of Carrefour. Their best teacher used to be (as I am not sure if she is still working there) Khun Suthida. Contact numbers: 038 360 175 or 086 367 0757.
  11. It also worked fine for me when buying a ticket to visit a 'ruine' in Buriram.
  12. Thank you Alan, it's clear now.
  13. Alan, My English skills are sometimes somewhat substandard. Could you please elaborate on the quoted sentence ? Thanks ….
  14. Note that in a couple of months Californai Wow will be opened on Second Road (appr. opposite Mike's Shopping Mall). Further information can be found on their website http://www.californiawowx.com/Thailand/eng/index.asp
  15. For further info you can contact mr. Andrew (Andy) Scorer at 081 76 200 13.
  16. I think you are about right in your description. Especially for people without too many contacts this service is ideal. However, I must admit that I haven’t heard anything of- / about them the last couple of months. They are indeed keeping office in the AA insurance place almost opposite Carrefour. So far I (luckily) never had to use their services. Would be good to hear more about / from them in the near future.
  17. This web-site is a bit on a non-event, I popped in some months ago into their office to ask when their site would be operational. The answer was (as can be expected from a real estate agent) very soon !
  18. I have booked him one time. Based my on experiences it was for sure the last time. No more Mr. Toom for me !
  19. You were lucky. I was allocated a not so new car driven by a lady who was on the phone (with a whispering voice) for the major part of the way from Pattaya to Bangkok. My luggage had to be transported on the backseat as there was no space in the boot as this space was occupied by a gas tank. Because she was on the phone almost all the way she did not spent attention to other traffic so we were driving on 'the wrong side of the road' with a speed of appr. 90 km/hr while other cars were passing us (at the wrong side of us) with considerable higher speeds. Also the fact that it was ice- and ice cold in the car has decided me to stop using mr. Toom's service. Once was enough.
  20. Usually, if you rent for one year, you pay 11 months rather than 12.
  21. I also have used Mr. Toom's service once .... and that was inmediately the last time. I have already reported my experiences in one of the other threads. My problems were related to unsafe behaviour of the driver: half the way from Pattya to Bangkok the driver was (without handsfree set) on the phone, we drove most of the way with a speed of around 90 km / hour on the right lane (so other cars were passing us with considerable higher speed on the left side), my luggage had to be transported on the backseat as the boot was used for a gastank. Furthermore it was ice and ice cold in the car. I have sent a note to Mr. Toom and got as reply: 'yes, this is a problem' ! For my trip to Bangkok this weekend I have booked for the service of mr. Lost-in-space (one of our Board Members). Total costs 1.600 Bath, including drinks and a big space for luggage.
  22. There may be, but not so easy to find. Wouldn't it be wise to start a new topic for all property related discussions ?
  23. It looks to me that the condo is 'empty' i.e. not furnished. Am I right ? Could you please also add one or more pictures of the view on the outside world (i.e. from the balcony) ? Thanks !
  24. I agree with the above, but make sure that you get what you asked for. I.e. agree on car type and costs of highway. Don't take cabs from the stands at the place close to the customs (more expensive) but take one from representative at the meeting point (end of the 'corridor').
  25. Thank you Mr. Big Chief, will collect more info and will most probably give it a try end of july when going to Farangland for a short while.
