  1. As said by the other posters there is only limited 3G available. If you go to the AIS, DTAC or True websites they have the various packages available on there. The 3 network in the UK make their phones very difficult to unlock are you sure the model you have can be unlocked ? Regards
  2. Always stay in the Sabai Resort whilst in Pattaya, ticks all the boxes for me.
  3. Just a note about the Jomtien Thani. It used to be the Royal Jomtien Hotel where 81 people died in a fire there in 1997. Bothers some people. Regards
  4. See what you mean now, never even looked at the headline, maybe have to get my eyes re-tested again, this getting old sucks big time !!!!! Thanks again
  5. Thanks for the link N3RGT, still could not make out whether it is free or not from the link, hate inputting my credit card details in these places. Anyway in the end did not have the time or the need to check-in online from there, managed a work around which went okay in the end. Back to transiting Dubai next month. Thanks again.
  6. Hi, does anybody know if there is free Wi-Fi available in Abu Dhabi Airport, and if available where. I have to do an online check-in from there if possible, I normally always transit Dubai where I have access to the business lounge. Any advice much appreciated. Regards
  7. Think you will find they were self appointed "Worlds Favourite Airline".
  8. Bunch of Southern softies 14 degrees this morning in Nakhon Phanom. Jacket is a must when going out on the bike, but been using the car a lot more this last week or so.
  9. More good news for Etihad flyers and Manchester Airport in general. http://logisticsweek.com/news/2011/03/new-...-in-manchester/ Regards
  10. You could always use Villa's shower, I'm sure he will be cheaper than 5 baht!!!
  11. Received the same email. When inputting dates for May/June came back with 560 pounds, booked the same dates with Emirates 569 pounds but on the A380 all the way out and back, no brainer really from my point of view. Flew with Etihad earlier this month for the first time, although okay and were on time, thought the leg room was tighter than Emirates. Regards
  12. If you think they are scary in Pattaya, try one in the centre of Bangkok, now that's an experience. Regards
  13. Maybe more and more demos to come until the result of the upcoming election has been resolved. Regards
  14. If you get a decent price for the Emirates A380 in business jacko go for it. I recently did a trip back to the UK (LHR) in business on the A380, absolutely fantastic service and amenities on the big bird. Regards
  15. Having to consume half a tree with photocopying endless pieces of paper, then signing each one in turn, as soon as you try to do anything involving the Thai authorities. Plus you always forget that one important piece that you have to return home for. The bloody temple opposite us playing music loudly at 6.30 in the morning, then insisting on reading out everybodys name and the amount they have donated to the temple in the last few days. Or the tuk tuk/ taxi driver that has just watched you arrive on your motorbike then asks if you want a tuk tuk or taxi ?? Regards
  16. Good news for the people around MAN, looks like it's at the expense of Gatwick. http://www.ttglive.com/c/portal/layout?p_l...%20of%20Gatwick As you predicted Paul BRS looks like Emirates are first to jump with the price increase. http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/e...-03-01-1.362287 Regards
  17. BigD has been confined to other parts of the board, so don't think he can post in this section now. Regards
  18. I departed from Swampy on Friday night 11th February, there was a checkpoint set up just before the right turn in the departure drop off point. They seemed to just be stopping mini-vans, only half the road was blocked off creating some traffic backing up. I arrived in a normal Bangkok taxi and the driver just used the right hand side of the road, which meant crossing the inside road once dropped off, not a problem really. We were not stopped or flagged down. They must have just re-instated this because of the yellow shits etc etc. No sign of it last month. Regards
  19. The town authorities in Nakhon Phanom have had a big stage erected on the road adjacent to the Mekong River outside the Immigration office for the Chinese New Year 3-6th February, so I have spent the last few nights there. They have had a mixture of Thai cultural shows, local bands and some of the local hip-hop boys break dancing etc etc. Plenty of beer tents, with Leo at 50 baht for a big bottle, loads of food as you can imagine with any to do with Thailand. Some really good shows and some not so good to be honest, but a great few nights. First night was with the wife and daughter
  20. You don't have to go to church, have a minister or attend any services to be a good Christian IMHO. By the way, I'm not in the least bit religious, when religion stops killing people then maybe I will give it a second look. Apologies to the OP for drifting off topic. Best Regards Fireman Sam
  21. Hi Green Malaka, You sure about the paypal part in the last sentence. I set one up last year for my Thai wife linked to her Kasikorn bank account in Nakhon Phanom. It was set up only for emergencies, we tested it out with me e-mailing a small amount just to make sure it worked okay, no problems at all, although we haven't used it since, I presume it still works okay. A few other expats up here have paypal accounts, because they can't get a visa card from their bank on their pay/ pensions. Maybe personal ones are okay, but they won't open business ones in Thailand ?? Anyw
  22. BigDUSA, How many times have you actually flown on an A380, myself, about 10-12 long-haul trips since it came into service, another two booked before the end of February. If there is a finer aircraft in the sky today then I have yet to set foot on it, I have flown on most of the other aircraft in the skies today, maybe apart from a few Russian or Chinese jobs. I have no preference over Boeing or Airbus, just like to be comfortable when flying long-haul and the A380 certainly fits the bill. Maybe you should give it a go before decrying it. 23. Dave was an ex Chief Steward in the British Merchant Navy, before running a club in Hamburg. He then set up his bar in Pattaya. Can't remember him having tattoos on his elbow's, or him being called spiderman, although I may be wrong about that. The guy with the headphones doing the football scores was John, Dave's early partner in the bar. John still lives in Pattaya today, I always visit him when I'm down in Pattaya. Yes, wee Andy's wife made good food, a real life saver at times. Last I heard they ended up in Australia. It wasn't a heart attack that Dave passed away wi
