  1. Thanks for the gentlemanly reply. I stopped by during my last visit in January but did not take advantage of the opportunity at the time. I plan to revist in July and will introduce myself accordingly. For the record.. I was tempted!
  2. I think everything in Pattaya is cheaper than BKK, except Hell club If the ladies receive the same pay as the girls in BKK, then in effect they are making more $ as things are much cheaper overall than BKK. If they're making the same $, then price/profit gouging is the alternative. Still, I recognize you have every right to do as you please and charge whatever the market will bare. I wish you all the success in the world.
  3. Being deaf does not have to be a handicap. My mother was born deaf and worked all her life as a BG in Jersey. If a deaf girls screams in the woods will anyone hear her? Seriously though, I don't know what the big deal is. Might even be a plus that she can't easily be distracted by cell phones, other girlfriends in the bar. She would have to pay close attention to lip reading and physical gestures to communicate! Sounds like a keeper to me. By the by, how is she doing?
  4. Usually work P/T on weekends for 6 months which pretty much pays for my entire trip 2X a year. That plus every 3 trips gets you 1 for free using FF miles. Other than that? I'm in debt up to my neck.
  5. I finally earned enough FF miles to fly business on Thai from JFK to BKK. 17.5 hours in lay-flat seats with 60" pitch? Sounds good. That ticket retails for over $5K! (I would NEVER pay that out of pocket). IMOP there is little difference between Premium Economy and Economy, especially if you have aisle seet as stated by previous poster.
  6. I always forget what your rates are and the size of your apartments. Why can't this information be put on the otherwise very good website?
  7. Well, TWICE that amount will get you a suite at The Vault. As for the Lord Nelson, why anyone would WANT to stay on SOI 6 is beyond me. Yeah, right in the middle of the action, but I don't like to eat where I shit either.
  8. Why is the best looking girl in the bar always a man?
  9. Was the noise going on while you were trying to sleep? I usually get back to the hotel around 4 am and sleep until 12 or so. every business has to do some constuction once in a while. I suspect if you contact Vic and tell him of your issue, he will likely discount the next stay.
  10. I booked at the Metro Apartments (thanks everyone), but I always thought the Areca Breakfast was pretty good. As I recall, eggs to order and several other ready-made dishes for the taking. If the Nana Hotel breakfast is a "10", then I'd give Areca a "6", which ain't bad.
  11. Thanks Dennis. I'll be there July 1 for 10 nights. Report to follow.
  12. My airline of choice states "no black-out dates" as a preferred member using FF miles, but the # of available trips, especially around the peak season is VERY LIMITED. I used a Delta FF free trip last December/January, but I booked that almost 1 year in advance. You can probably "reserve" the flight (if it's available) and then have to pay with points or cash within 2 days (that's how mine worked). Bottom line is you MIGHT get lucky, but I doubt it during the holiday season. Try this website for expert advice Flyer talk
  13. Just a little more room. Maybe 6" more You can find out more at this website Seat Guru Thai Airways Airbus A340-500 (345) Thai operates 3 of these long haul aircraft for non-stop flights between JFK and BKK. pitch width seating details Business Class: 60.0" 21.5" 60 Lie-flat seats with 170 degrees of recline More Info Premium Economy Class: 42.0" 18.0" 42 seats with legrests Economy Class: 36.0" 17.0" 113 seats
  14. For the ignorant among us (ME), what is the difference between a guesthouse and a hotel?
  15. After hearing of all these great replies, I have booked for July myself! Good to support fellow BMs, too. Report to follow..
  16. Have received an offer of B550 per night for metro apartments on Soi Metro. Sounds really good; private safe, AC, king size bed, refrigerator, bar, daily maid service, private balcony, shower. Billiards in attached bar downstairs. This is B450 less than Areca. Of course, the metro does not offer breakfast, but at B400 is Bfast really worth THAT much? (actually, I think during my last 14 day stay, I was only up for breakfast maybe 2X). previous reviews have mostly been positive. Metro Apartments
  17. Nice try though! I regularly use sawadee.com and have had good results. thanks.
  18. I have been quoted by Sawadee.com reservations deptartment for the Areca Lodge for 12 days @ B1000 per night (double, standard). However, must pay in advance 2 weeks before arriving. Can the discount still work? Probably not since going through a reservation and paying in advance. Still, B1000 for the Areca ain't all that bad either! Other choice is Sabai Inn @B700 (Chaba package - no breakfast, Soi 2). I'm leaning towards Areca, although over 10 days we're talking B3000 diff, a princely sum for BGs! Thanks for the suggestions. Here's a thought....it's low season (July 1-11), su
  19. Thanks. i checked the site out and it looks promising. Areca Lodge, Diana Inn, Globetrotter and other hotels included. Also Classroom Gogo, Living Dolls, Lipstick and even my favorite - RED POINT BAR (Yodsak). Question: do you have to make reservations with the discount card? And will the gogos and othe bars always honor the discount or only on certain occasions? 10% off my drinking and hotel bill over a 10 day period would likely save me over $100 easy, or one lame-dupe overpaying LT.
  20. That's funny and so true. Have "deserved" a refund on several occasions while bopping about in various establishments, but NEVER got even OFFERED once! lol. I soon learned never to expect one.
  21. I'll check to see if they have a website. Much obliged.
  22. I've stayed on Soi 2, Soi Diana, and at the Vault (north of Soi 16, methinks). Of all, I prefer the Soi Diana location as its right in the middle with lots of things to do within walking distance. Can someone recall the names/websites of other hotels on Soi Diana? I know about the metropole and areca lodge, but can't seem to recall the others although I walked down the street 100X already. I'm looking to stay in late June/July for 3 weeks and would like to book a rate in the 700-1000 baht range. Thanks.
