For me it is Emirates first, THAI 2nd and EVA 3rd. Otherwise any European, UAE or SE Asian airline that has a good offer. No way I'll fly China Airlines again unless it's for free (because of (massive delays, overbooking, unhelpful staff, food, no IFE etc)

I'm staying @ Areca now and the renovation has been completed in the oldest part of the hotel and from 1st september they started to renovate the "Corona" wing. It seems that they have closed the complete wing of that part of the hotel. Also the pool between Corona and Evergreen wing is closed until the end of september. The newly renovated rooms are just like they used to be (= great!), but with new paint and a darker shade of brown on the wooden thing over the fridge. Also, as mr. Fat Controller said, there is a larger safe, that will fit laptops. Just a shame they didn't replace the old

When queues at immigration are acceptable, then there's no point in purchasing. Problem is ofcourse that you don't know how busy it will be on arrival. As an economy class ticketholder you don't get "fasttracked" unless you buy it upfront. Last time (March) I arrived around noon and I knew that there are several longhaul flights coming in at that time (so busy at immigration). Next time (september) I'll arrive around 6 AM, so I hope immigration will be easy....

There are also people who fly economy because they cannot afford a business class ticket, but don't want to wait 1,5 hrs or more to get thru immigration. For those people Fasttrack is a good solution. As fas as I know there are 2 companies offering these services (prices start from 1200 baht). The service itself is pretty good as it serves it purpose in getting you thru immigration very fast. When there is queue at Immigration, Fasttrack is worth it's money!

Will THAI stop their twice daily service from FRA when the A380 comes into service? I've flown THAI quite a lot from FRA, tired old planes without personal video screens but with 34 inch seat pitch. In March flew Emirates on a A380 and liked it. Great airplane! Can't wait to see THAI operate this airplane from FRA!

There is a bar in T3 as well that allows smoking. It is near the end of the terminal, there were they have to fountain. Close (opposite) McDonalds if that gives you a better orientation)

Mahan Air is flying from Dusseldorf via Tehran to Bangkok also. Normally, as people reported on several forums, there are little to no problems, but once the shit hits the fan, the problems are BIG! Their fleet is small, so a problem (delay, technical problem) will cause delays for many flights, if not all their flights. In addition to Jacko's reply (KLM): EVA air too. Both EVA Air and KLM fly 747 Combi's on their Amsterdam - Bangkok - Taipei route EVA did fly their 777-300 on that route, but for some reason (start flying from Paris again maybe) they changed it back to their (old) 747 Combi

Not only does Big C sell you mobile phones (they might have a promotion running), there are also a number of shops selling new and second hand mobile phones on the 1st (2nd if you're American) floor. If you are only looking for a phone to make calls and send SMS (this seems stupid to mention, but nowadays a mobile phone can do so much more), then a simple Nokia would do. I know the guys at Tuk.com can do wonders to our little pieces of modern electronics, but how about Iphone (2g) repair? My Iphone's battery is about to die, so I want that changed plus I want the back cover replaced, since it shows I've used it a lot (many scratches on the backcover). So any recommendations? Advice? Ok. I thought it was a KLM flight BKK -> AMS, but it's only KLM to Humberside. 9 o'clock is China Airlines. Usually on time, but I can see the problem with transfering etc. Although Schiphol is not a bad airport to spend some time, but 4 hours layover at any airport is never good! You fly KLM of Air France? Bacause KLM's flight 878 arrives at Schiphol at 5.40 (in the morning), so you could take the 9.50 flight to Humberside. Flight 878 is KLM's only BKK - AMS flight. Others flights are code-share with Air France, but those flights also arrive early in the morning in Amsterdam via Paris.

On Sawadee.com there are some "special rates" being published recently. One of my favourite BKK hotel, Centre Point Petchburi, has a special rate of 2100 baht now (was 2600 baht). It is not a 5-star hotel, but very, very nice (for sure a 4 star) and @ 2100 bath a bargain! Succes en geniet ervan (Success and enjoy!)

Well, my answer won't help you much since it is "maybe they will ask, maybe they don't" I always purchase my airline ticket online (and pay by CC) and since 2005 have flown to Thailand twice a year. I've only been asked to show my creditcard once (flying THAI from Frankfurt Germany). But on another flight with THAI they didn't ask, so it's not a policy with THAI either. In September I've stayed in the Honey House Inn 2 on Soi 22 @890 baht/ night. Sorry to say, but I wasn't impressed. Lady from reception very friendly and all, but rooms small, too old, too noisy. For the budget traveller only. Years ago stayed at the Promenade soi 8, same story but even worse than Honey House Inn. Maybe Promenade has been updated/ upgraded since then. For the last 3 years I've always stayed (2/ 3 times/ year) at Centre Point Petchburi, opposite Pantip Plaza. Prices have gone up from 1800 baht (2006) to 2600 baht in 2009. Used Mr. T yesterday when coming to BKK. Booked it at his "office" (across Areca on Soi Diana). I paid 900 baht incl. toll! Driver was more or less on time (2 minutes late), standard Toyota Corolla with leather seats. Uneventfull ride to airport in 1,5 hr. No complaints, ordinairy taxi ride. I used mr. Toom as well, just same same. Didn't have his number so went to mr. T.

Just stayed in Sunshine Vista too and shared room with 20 or so roaches. Killed most of them. Found the hotel a little overrated and overpriced but that's another story. Now staying in Bkk, cheap hotel,but no roaches!! So it's beyond me why Sunshine Vista can't do that too. Maybe longtime unoccupied, but they knew i was coming, so plenty of time to spray. Will not stay again, 'cause to expensive. Can get same for less,or better for same rate.
