  1. Residence Garden is great. I have stayed there 3 times in the past and the staff has always been great. Bring as many girls back as you like and they can even use the pool.
  2. I would suggest the Residence Garden which gives you a FLB rate of 1,450 baht a night (about $45. US). There is no lobby to go through and no one checks girls ID's as they do at the Penthouse. Each room is a 2 room suite with 2 pools, balcony, wet bar, small kitchen with full size fridge. Great restaurant and there is a nice little restaurant across the street run by Kay who is a Thai movie star. There is a link on this forum for the Residence Garden. I have stayed at this hotel several times and at the Penthouse once. My penthouse room had a bug problem, water was leaking through the ceiling, and the room was dirty. The pool is indoors and had a problem while I was there and was green as a frog pond. They stock the room with everything from condums to handcuffs and if a bargirl opens the package you bought it at a high price. The bed was hard as a rock. One night in the Penthouse was enough for this lifetime.

  5. Singapore Airline. Leave JFK on Nov. 10, leave BKK Jan 12
  6. That rate included everything. I fly out of JFK on November 10 and return from BKK on January 12.
  7. I got a real good rate on Airtran from PHF (Newport News, Va) to New York $59.00. Airtran is having a sale and if you need to connect to your flight to LOS you might want to check their fares.
  8. I just paid $679.11 for JFK to BKK. Best deal going right now
  9. Singapore Airlines is having a real sale. I just booked JFK (new York) to BKK for $679.11 all fees and taxes included. Sale runs through June 28 and you must fly by November 30. May stay for up to 90 days. I am departing Nov. 11, 2009 & returning Jan. 11, 2010. Really good price on a first class airline. The sale is good from many US cities.
  10. Thanks for the reply. My only concern with China Air is their saftey record.
  11. Anyone had any experience with Aero Svit airlines. They are a russian carrier but travel worldwide. They have a round trip business class fare from JFK to BKK for $2,400. us. Price is good but I know nothing about the airline.
  12. I spent a month there and it was the best deal in town. Have stayed there twice.
  13. I plan to move to Pattaya around November of this year from the USA. I figure I will buy a nice condo outright so I will have no rent expense. With this done I think I could probably live on $2,000 US dollars a month. With the devaluation of the dollar to the baht I may be better off to hold off buying a condo and renting for awhile with hope that the dollar will rebound.
  14. After looking at the local wiring I am not sure if there is an electrician in the country. Most of their electrical work looks like it was done by plumbers.
  15. Thanks for the laugh.
  16. Majestic Grande is a good choice. Only thing I could find wrong with it is the swimming pool is a bit cool as the pool is in the shadow of the J W Marriott. It is less than 2 blocks from Nana Plaza and easy walking distance to Gullivers
  17. No coats or jackets needed. What U will need is extra underware as you will be taking at least 3 showers a day. One when U get up in the morning, one before you go out for the night and one before you hop into bead with your tilak of the night. It is very hot & humid in LOS
  18. That as always is a real hoot. Glad we can maintain a little humor on this thing.
  19. For those who maintain US bank accounts after moving to LOS, will those banks and credit card companys send your statements to you in LOS or do you have them go to a friend or relative in the US?
  20. You can cancel part "B" of Medicare if you like but if you ever want to reinstate it there is a 10% penalty added to the premiums for each year you did not have part "B". Part "B" is around $94 a month but no medicare will do you any good living in Thailand. You would have to fly back to the U. S. to use it. It seems somewhat unfair to make you pay for part "B" if you cant use it but if you do not keep it up it would cost you an arm and a leg to reinstate it in later years. I guess if you plan to live the remainder of your life out in Thailand you should just cancel the part "B". There is no charge for part "A".
  21. I have flown Thai Airways twice this year and to tell you the truth it was as good as it gets. No complaints & I found their service to be as good as Cathy Pacific which I previously flew. The non-stop from JFK to BKK is the best way to get there from New York. Have bought tickets for that flight on Feb. 1 2007 again. Their seats give you more pitch than those on Cathy Pacific and the flight gets to BKK at around 5 PM rather than 11:30 PM as on Cathy Pacific.
  22. Don't get me wrong guys, I drink as much as the next guy but almost never on a plane. Reason for this is that the humidity on a commercial airliner is 2 - 3% and they are pretty much freeze drying your butt up there. Now I am talking about the long flights, not those of 3 to 4 hours duration. New York to Bangkok is 17 hrs non-stop and you can get very dehydrated on such a flight. Even more dehydrated if you drink alcohol. Most folks get there and charge it off to jetlag and it can take a day to a day & a half to get over. Best thing to do is drink a glass of water every hour and when you get there you can hit the ground running. Next best thing after water is non-carbinated fruit juices. Also avoid coffee & tea. It won't take too long to catch up on your drinking once you hit the ground in LOS and you will be up for the job. This works, I have put many airmiles on long flights.
  23. Avoid a taylor who does business under the name of "George". He is located on 2nd rd about a block up from Walking St. Very poor work. I donated the suit and shirts he made for me to a charity for a tax writeoff.
  24. Depends on the type of food you like. You can find just about any type in Pattaya with no trouble.
  25. If you are staying at the Residence Garden there is a good laundry just on the other side of the hotel next to the RG. quick service & quality work.
