I an going to start receiving US Social Security in Feb 07 and I was wondering if there is any problem in receiving it in Thailand by direct deposit or through any other means? I plan to relocate to LOS in 2007.

I had eye surgery at Bangkok Hospital and have had dental work done at Bumrungard Hospital in Bangkok. Both will treat you a hell of a lot better than hospitals in the USA and prices are much better as well.

One trip to Pattaya and you will be a changed man. You never had a clue that life could be so good.

The Residence Garden is a really good place to stay and you can get a good rate on this board. Hard to beat $35 for a suite, girl friendly, 2 pools, nice restaurant.

How about a picture of the girls available in the bar. Would be nice to have all of the bars post one. FLB has pics of their girls on their website.

I stayed there for one night, had planned for 2 weeks but after 1 night bailed out. Nice sex swing in room & hot tub. Too many bugs in room. Room dirty Swimming pool looked like a swamp. All kinds of junk in the room for the bar girls to latch onto and add to your bill. Bed was hard Ceiling leaked water during the night. Other than that the place was fine.

Good place to stay. Short walk to Walking St., great restaurant, 2 nice pools, very guest friendly. I am staying there again in Feb. Can't be beat for the price. Reserve room through the link on this forum for best price.

I like the Texas Bar-B-Q nightly at the Residence Garden. Nice selection of food and a good selection of Thai food as well so the girls tend to like it. Pig & Whistle is good as well. Marriott has a great breakfast buffet. Really first class

I guess for a guy 65 yrs old in good health self insurance is not a bad idea when you look at the overall cost of Thai health coverage. I have the assets to allow for this and if needed could always return to the USA and use Medicare.

I plan on moving to Pattaya from the United States next year. As I have just turned 65 and have signed up for medicare here I learn that it will do me no good outside of the USA. So it looks as if I will need to obtain some type of health insurance to cover me in LOS. Any idea what such a plan would cost? I am in good health with no impairments. Any help would be appreciated.

I have flown the JFK to BKK route on Thai Airways before. The only aircraft used on this route is the Airbus A 340-500. There is no first class on this flight, only economy, premium economy, & business class. I would suggest the premium economy unless you are willing to pay in excess of $100.00 each way per hour of flight time to sit in business class. It's actually a $4,000.00 plus difference between premium economy and business class. Save that 4K difference and enjoy it in LOS. 4K buys a lot of ladies in LOS. I usually book economy and upgrade to premium economy at check in as they usually have a special deal on the upgrade. Premium economy gives you quite a bit more room and the seats are larger. Thai Airways is a quality airline and the best flight time from JFK to BKK. The flight gets into BKK at 5 pm and is non-stop. Most of the other flights with other airlines involve a plane change in Japan, Germany, or Hong Kong and arrive in BKK at or after 11 PM. Flight time from JFK to BKK is 17 hrs but is a lot less hours traveling when you consider the other airlines which can take from 21 to 30 hours including the plane change ect.

Probably you could go on line and order the material and do it yourself. Before you apply the tinting film wet the window with a little water and liquid soap solution as this will let you move the film around until you get it just where you want it. If you apply to a dry window once it hit the window it better be right as you can not move it. Not too hard to do. I did two large sliding doors on my boat with no trouble.

Do any of the large US banks have branches in Thailand such as Bank of America. I was also thinking of American Express Bank. I have American Express Credit Cards now and they are accepted in Thailand. Any suggestions?

Thanks guys, lots of good info. I will probably sell my home here as it is too large of an investment to let stay empty and I would hate to manage rental property from LOS. I do have one additional rental home which has had the same tenant since 1988 so I just may keep that one and let him continue to live there. After all, he has paid for it so it only seem fair. May put some furniture in storage in case I do return to the states but I do not see that happening. Funny how when you talk about moving to Thailand most of the people here in the states look at you like you are crazy and say " You are going to do what?) When I ask them if they have ever been here the answer is always "No". They would have to visit LOS to understand and the women here would never understand.

I am now giving serious consideration to retiring and moving to Thailand. I was married for 40 yrs lost my wife 3 yrs ago. Problem is over that long of a marriage you aquire quite a bit of personal property which there is no way to take with you. I mean I don't need silver service, fine china, art ect in LOS. Ussually you can not sell things like this at anyway near a fair price. What did you guys do with a home full of furniture ect. I figure I can buy a furnished condo once there but hate to just give away a whole house full of furniture.

There is a place right across the street from the Nana Hotel in BKK, I think the name of it is New Nana Clothiers or something very close. I have had clothing made there twice and each time it was a very good job. While in Pattaya a friend and I both had suits made by a taylor who trades under the name of George in a storefront about a block off Walking St. Very poor results for both of us.

Check out Airtran, they have a sale every other week. They fly into NY at LGA, take the schutle bus from there over to JFK for $13. If you have to spend the night in NY there is a days Inn just outside the airport which is reasonable and they take you to the airport in the morning. Get there early in the morning and you can get an exit row seat. Thai Airways does not assign exit row seats until the day of flight and they want to see if you look like you could open the door.

All life insurance policies have incontestability clauses. In most states in the USA suicide is covered after the policy has been in force for a period of 2 years so suicide does take some long term planning.

Best I can tell the Vault has no swimming pool. Is this correct?
