Accomadations at new airport

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there will be any accomodations on the grounds of the new airport?

I've been checking out flight times and it seems they mostly arrive very late, and depart very early. I was wondering if there will be somewhere in the airport to get a room for 8-12 hours to take a nap before the trip to/from Pattaya.

If not anyone know of an inexpensive place close to the new airport that can provide transport for an electric wheelchair,

LilWilly,

Go to this link:

http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/layout1en.php

It lists an airport hotel (No. 6 on the map)

... wonder if they'll be girl friendly??? Might be a nice way to spend your last hours in LOS. :clueless

Cheers, Lemons

You won't have to worry about any accomodation at the new airport until late next year because it will not be open for operations before October to December 2006 at the best.

But there are several Projects of Hotels around the Airport including one directly in the center of the Airport Area (600 rooms).

The offical site is nice but still states September 29th 2005 as opening date which of course is not possible.

Another nice site with good (and more up to date) info is:

Oops. Sorry. I miss-read one of the sites. I thought it was going to be open this fall! I'm thinking of coming over in Feb 2006 as a birthday present for myself.

In that case, let me rephase my question. Any hotels on the grounds of the current airport grounds.

Hi

Enjoy your stay but pretend you've never even heard of that new airport.

Because I'm having trouble finding clear answers on wheelchair vans with drivers for hire. So rather then try to find wheelchair vans in Bangkok, I figured it would be easir to get a room in a hotel I can get to under my own power.

Thanks. The Amari is sort of what I was looking for....

"Amari Airport Hotel A luxury business hotel that connects to Don Muang Airport via an air-con walkway. "

... but at 6400Baht a night, is way too expensive. Maybe I'll just find a nice place and nap in my chair or explore the airport shops till I catch my ride.

surely you can get the amari cheaper than that, maybe on expedia, travelocity, zuji.com, or some site like that? This hotel is perfect for your wheelchair since you can just wheel over the connecting bridge.

OK, you need a Pick up that is Wheel Chair ready. I think that most of the big Hotels can arrange this.

Forget the Amari - the price is insane.

Try to contact the bigger Hotels in Bangkok

Just some:

http://www.sheraton.com/bangkok

http://www.sheratongrandesukhumvit.com

http://bangkok.grand.hyatt.com/

http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/BKKDT

http://bangkok.intercontinental.com/

contact them and ask if they can arrange wheel chair ready pick up from the airport. if you find one that can - go to one of the hotel discount sites (do a search on this site - there are several mentioned) and book the hotel as that, at least in most cases, will be a lot cheaper.

See here for example:

http://www.asiahotels.com/hl/Thailand.asp

http://www.hotels2thailand.com/

but there are others mentioned on the board - can't remember them though.

I know for a fact that the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit offered wheel chair ready vans for pick up to a friend of mine and it worked just fine - but that was about 2 years ago. You will have to ask them to be sure. Really don't let yourself be scared by the prices on the websites, you will get it for much cheaper at the discount sites.

You will find what you need without having to stay at the Aiprort, unless that's what you want. In that case there are other Hotels then the Amarii near the Airport.

  • 7 months later...

I'm looking for a one nighter with my girlfriend and Erawan Place seems to be a no brainer of these four hotels based on the reviews and my budget.

Any other nominations?

Anyone know how I can find the direct phone number and direct email address of this hotel. I don't like booking through third party websites.
