hi there, don´t look at anything but the exit sign, there is alot of peeople in the exit area trying to sell you a taxi ride to pattaya, just say no and walk by, as soon you get outside there should be a taxibooth, so just stand in line and tell the person in the booth where you wanna go and they will do the rest....the price i paid last october was 1300 including toll

los stands for land of smiles have a nice trip :D

L O S = land of smiles ,

There are many ways of geting to Pattaya ,

the best way I've had was with a pick at the airport from a service by

Lost in space ,

just look up his post .

If you do take a cab from the airport , print off your hotel detals ,

and walk out of the airport to the taxi stand outside ,

you will to stoped on the way by touts , saying" taxi sir" ,

just say no thanks and walk on .

at the stand the girl will ask you where to . and she write it down in thai for the driver ,

she will also give you the price . the price at the stand is set .

about 1400 baht last time I used it .

Its good to know about the stand , because even hotel pick ups can go wrong .

No never hired a car in BKK.maybe an idea but how do u plan to find Pattaya driving from airport.

Having car in pattaya is ok but unless u r planning to travel outside of that area, definately not necassary.getting around is both easy and very cheap.

Got a cheap taxi ride last time. We had decided to take the bus from Morchit > Pattaya (fare about 100 baht) but to get to Morchit you need to take a taxi (200 baht - its not far). During jouney driver said "where you go from Morchit ?". I said "Pattaya" he said "I take you - 1000 plus tolls". We said "Your on". Price quoted at the airport booth was 1500 + tolls.

Anyone ever rent a car from BK airport?

Is this a bad idea (having a car in Pattaya. Driving in Thailand in general)?

Hi , the reason that you don't need ,or want a car in pattaya is,Parking, there isn't any,or at least there is no good parking anywhere near the hot spots, you would spend so much time looking for spaces ,then more time walking back to where you want to go ,that a Baht Bus is much quicker and cheaper.Another reason that you don't want a car is that the Thais drive on the other side of the road than Americans, and if you have no experience of this it will make for a dangerous experience, take it from one who knows ,I was a truck driver in the past and my first trip to Europe in a truck was almost disastrous, cause I had no experience of driving on the wrong side of the road, and almost creamed some poor guy who I thought at first must be drunk cause he was coming at me on my side of the road ,then I realized it was me and had to take avoiding action.Don't do it take a cab it's loads easier.

A car gives you a lot of freedom to explore the area. I agree if you are just going to stay around the center of Pattaya then there is no need for the car, but if you are adventurous then you will love having the car. With the car you can discover beautiful beaches and really see more than the average tourist would. Most hotels will have parking for you.

i have arrived at all hours, even 2 am. walk outside, just follow the crowd down towards baggage and go outside. absolutely smile but say no to any offers. go outside there is a small well lit taxi booth. usually two girls inside. their english is ok. just say pattaya, and hotel or your soi (street #). pattaya is not big, so just memorize any soi reasonably close to your hotel. soi 8 in the middle for example. taxi guy will know it. price is around 1300 baht. two hour drive off rush hour.

on my last trip, i took the bus from pattaya to Ekami bus station in bangkok. 110 baht! decent air conditioned bus. one can take a bus from ekami to BKK or a taxi. Reverse the trip from the airport. but buses run from around 6 am to 10 pm, so you don't want to do this at night. it does take longer, but in the day and with time to spare, it is a nice way to see the outside a bit a

One more option. On my first trip in September of 2004, i took the mini van that Thai airways was running from BKK to pattaya. IT only costs 300 Baht. It ran t 0900, 1200 and 1700 as i recall. Not sure if they still run it. Book the bus at the Thai Airways ticket counter down on the ground floor.

or you can one of these numbers it is a taxi service I use round corner from my hotel.

006638361741 or 06692136123

Bangkok to pattaya 1000bht plus toll 100bht

pattaya to bangkok 800bht plus toll 100bht

that taxi booth outside bangkok airport will cost you 1500bht plus toll 100bht

taxis inside airport will cost you double that

Great advice. I found this last trip though that the fares are for sure going up. They have the gas prices just like we do as well as alot of drivers are not wanting to drive at 2 am. They want a little more for early AM trips. Those signs you see in Pattaya for 800 Baht to Don Muang are not too accurate. If you have a normal lets say 10 am departure no prob but if you have one of those damn 0600 take offs nope on cheap taxi.

Back to leaving Don Muang. The 3 a day Minivan offered from Thai Limosene is no longer.

That was a cheap way. Prob why its not around any more.

If your going straight to Pattaya then the taxi stand outside the terminal just might do it. There is also a service charge involved> Read the sign in front of you so you dont think your getting ripped off. They are a little tip crazy at your destination though. I tip good too!. Toll ways are extra<<<<<< Lets figure 1300 total for the treip... Just an estimate.

Calling a hotel taxi in bangkok might cost more do to traffic and tollways to get you unless youve called in advance...

When I clear customs in BKK I usually stop by the duty free store in the lower level of the airport than take the elevator up to the "Departure" level to catch a cab who is dropping off a departing passenger. Good idea to have your hotel address printed out in Thai as some of these guys do not speak english. I prefer to use the "Taximeter" cabs and pay the toll on the expressway going into BKK.

You should be able to make a deal with them to take you to Pattaya for between 1,000 bt to 1,200 bt plus tolls. By going upstairs in the airport to departures you avoid the line for cabs which can be long if there are several large flights all arriving at the same time.

I used the departure cabs too area before but had a guy jump in the back seat saying he was just getting a ride. You should have seen me bail out!! a 2nd time I tried it the cab started out OK then wanted me to switch to another car in downtown BKK.

It has its good point and its bad....

I got a meter-taxi from departure drop-off ramp to Pattaya for 1,000 baht plus tolls for 150 baht. You have to haggle for best prices. He originally wanted 2,000 baht plus toll but haggled to 1,000+ toll or I'm leaving and he agreed. He turned the meter off and headed toward Pattaya. And I paid 1150 at my hotel in Pattaya.

I just hate that "you stupid farang" look when he wanted 2,000 baht. :cry1
