I stayed at the Jasmine Mansion on Soi Baukaow from the 5th July to 1st August 2007 in the

Penthouse suite.

MY ACCOMODATION. The Penthouse suite is on the top floor, it consists of a very large room

with seperate large bathroom, good size fridge, TV and DVD player. There are two air

conditioning units which are operated by remote control and a table with two chairs for dining.

Outside the room is a good size kitchen (open air under cover) with bench seat and dining

table. This leads onto the veranda which has two sun loungers. The top floor is shared with

a small area set aside for the cleaning girls but this was no problem and I was not disturbed

by the girls. There is ample room for sunbathing with an outside (cold) shower but i never

quite managed a bathe. (no lift but I survived)

THE FOOD. As I am a butterfly I tend to eat alone more often than not. I am also a very

picky eater so I had intended to do quite a bit of cooking for myself. I did cook myself a

couple of curries, some pancakes and the odd batch of bacon and eggs however I sampled

the food at Jasmine early on and found it very good. I found a core of three or four meals

which suited my picky needs and they were always cooked to perfection and well presented

which meant I did not have to cook as often as I'd imagined.

THE STAFF. I have previously stayed at Residence Garden & Areca Lodge and found the

staff to be very smiley and generally friendly/helpful. At Jasmine Mansion the staff were

exceptional. I was always met with a friendly greeting and beautiful smiles, after a while

we appeared to have developed quite a rapport. My accent is apparently more difficult

to understand than an English accent and often had the girls in fits of laughter by just

speaking the odd sentence or two. There is no better relief from a hangover than a

warm smile or a giggle. I can understand why some of the reception staff have been

stolen away by previous guests.

THE HOTEL. Jasmine Mansion is ideally situated for my needs, it is equidistant from WS

and Sois 7/8. Everything you would need is within walking distance. I used the laundry

facing Areca Lodge, I'm sure there was one closer but I used them last year and was

pleased with their service. Turn right out main entrance and there is a currency exchange

about 50 yards down on the same side of the road. On two seperate occassions I checked

the rates in 5 or 6 other exchange booths and this one ALWAYS gave best rate. There

are plenty of pubs, go gos nearby and of course just round the corner is Hell Club

Lolitas and Rock House.

MY HOSTS. Kevin and Jin are great hosts, I was made to feel very much at home from

the start and any problems I had were dealt with very quickly. They showed genuine

concern when something failed or was delayed and Kevin strives for perfection which

alas I fear will always be just beyond his reach. The Hotel was kept spotless throughout

my stay and I was impressed.

IN SUMMARY. Picking a hotel is a very personal thing, so a recommendation from me

might not be in the best interests of someone who has different needs or expectations.

I picked Jasmine Mansion because I liked Kevins writing style on the board and I was

very pleased that I did. If the room size, cost etc suits your needs then all I can say is

that Kevin, Jin and their staff will enhance your visit.

If there are no major changes in the future I think I have found my home from home

Thanks to all at the Jasmine Mansion

Alex (a very satisfied customer).

is there a joiner's fee?

I appreciate your report as I am looking for a hotel in that neck of the woods for my next trip. It sounds very promising.

I just googled this:

http://www.jasminemansion.com/site/index.html

so some of my questions are answered.

No, there is no joiners fee however I didn't have any threesomes this year so I'm not sure if there is a fee for any extra girls?

I came about an inch away from booking my November there. After scouring every site i could find and a couple of emails with Kevin i had pretty much decided to go there.

The only thing that stopped me in the end was the lack of a pool. While not a fitness fanatic i do enjoy at least one swim per day while on holiday. I ended up booking in at the Residence Garden.

From all my investigations ( and i did a lot of investigating ) it sounds like the ideal place to go if you don't need a pool.

Must have walked past it tons of times on the way to Butchers Arms ( overrated ) from Opey De Place in Lengkee and Soi Honey and Metro etc.Wish I had dropped in if only for the food, looks very very well presented.

Stayed there early April, the breakfasts included in your hotel bill are pretty much the dogs bollocks.I would stay their again but not on the side where the road is(Soi Bouckoi),because of early morning traffic noise. The staff where excellent, except for grassing me up to tilack for having sexy lady in ,befor she joined me in Patts.

But on a more serious note ,Kevin was not there he was up country somewhere,Return to hotel late one night about 3am tilac was in bed ,and had to wake night reception staff up to open security door to access hotel bedrooms,if that was not bad enough the next night I returned same time Tilack asleep in room,2 staff members legged out fast asleep, but I did'nt have to wake them as the security door was open!!! .Do you allow your staff to sleep on duty Kevin.

I stayed there in March this year,

A great location,

Staff and hosts ...most helpful

The room was clean,

The inclusive breakfast makes it a good deal

You can use RG pool...around the corner for 100 bath for the day

But good locations can have their drawbacks.....

Noise....Kevin says he is getting new glazing....when that happens

I will be back

Stayed here for 14 nights in Dec/jan last Year and I agree with everything Alexist said it is a great place and the only thing stopping it being my permanent hotel everytime I go back is that there is no pool.

I think there is a 300 Joiner fee for the second girl.

Hi to All.

Thought i would add my twopence to what has all ready been said regarding

the Jasmine Mansion in Soi Baukaow.

I have stayed there twice now September/October last year and June this year.

and it is such a charming and happy place to be.

I certainly put some weight on with Kevin's inclusive English breakfast menu and of the 18 nights i was there had 17 Number 1's all freshly cooked cannot fault it at all.

I also had the same room on both occasions with balcony overlooking soi buakaow.

And yes it can be a little noisy for the first couple of nights but after that was no problem for me.

I have also booked my mate and his Thai wife into the Jasmine for there Wedding

Anniversary next March and hope to be there myself he owes me a few beers.

And i know very much they are looking forward to staying at the Jasmine.

The Jasmine is in a great location with everything you need nearby and now you

just can't keep me away from Soi Baukaow.

It has already been said that Kevin and Gin are the perfect host's and any problems

that may arise are quickly put right.

They both work a lot of hours to ensure all the guest's have a pleasant stay.

Finely Kevin should you read this topic i will be back again in October but there have

been some big development's with my own girl friend after June's stay at the Jasmine.

Think it better for me to send you an email regarding this very soon.

I must say thanks to you Alexist for your very positive review and I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay here - as you know you are number one in the eyes of my staff, very hansum man indeed. Thank you also to the others who have posted your kind comments and, in particular, Rainsberger who has always championed our cause - I have received your e-mail and replied to that separately.

nariad - As concerns the night staff being asleep what can I do but offer my sincere apologies for that and also for advising your girlfriend of your other relationship. These are both unacceptable acts and not something we would normally experience - the girls here are usually very discreet as many other guests would be able to testify (of course any indescretions resulting in an out of the ordinary occurrence may result in you getting a mention in my next book at least I do have the decency to change the names!!).

Seriously though we do whatever we can to ensure all of our staff behave properly and undertake their duties dilligently. I do check on the night staff from time to time - I stay at the hotel at least one night a week unannounced - but other than physiically being here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year how on earth can I guarantee my night staff do not catch the odd forty winks? - it is impossible I am afraid and that is the level of perfection that is, unfortunately, beyond me as suggested by Alexist. The person or persons mentioned by you are now no longer with us and I have to say our present night guy is excellent from what I have witnessed and been told.

Here in Pattaya one is dealing with a revolving door in staff terms. It is difficult to find employees with the necessary abilities and then even harder to get them to stay for the long term. This year alone four excellent staff have left having got married, secured visas and moved abroad with their husbands. I now have two other girls in exactly that same position who I know will leave sometime in the next few months when their visas come through. As with any business you are going to get the occassional bad apple and any business is only as good as its weakest link. It is a damnable shame that all of the efforts of both Jin and I and those excellent members of staff we have sometimes count for nothing because of the actions or inactions of the odd one or two!

I think overall though that we offer good value for money and a level of service that is up there in the hard to beat table. The food here is awesome and my chef has been with us for over a year and she just keeps getting better. I eat here out of choice most of the time and am someone who is quick to speak out if something is not done properly.

Overall Jasmine Mansion is a small mid range hotel lacking only two major ingredients - a pool and a lift. However, for those who are not phased by the lack of either then I believe we would compare more than favourably to other similar establishments.

I am always looking to improve the hotel and restaurant and any coments made that suggest things that may assist us in achieving this are always welcomed and carefully considered.

thanks,

Kevin

PS - For nariad - if you want to drop me a line privately I will be pleased to consider a way in which I may recompense you.

PPS - The joiner fee for asecond lady is B200 not B300 staying overnight and my philosophy on this and the reasons for it have been done to death in the past. However, as a number of guests will also testify, this fee is often overlooked by the reception staff. In the event that a guest gets away with this then neither Jin nor I do anything other than let it pass.

PPPS - On the subject of noise this obviously affects some people more than others although is only noticeable in the baclony rooms on the first and second floors. If you live in a City or the centre of a large town then it is unlikely you will notice anything but if you live in a more rural environment then it may take a few days to become acclimatised. The higher floors or rooms to the side and back of the hotel are much quieter.

I enjoyed my stay there too. And even if your not saying there its got some good afternoon deals and the coffee is great. The sausage and chips and a coffee was only 70 bht and you can take your laptop in and use the wifi.
