Pattaya Britsh Pub microwaves pies....what the f***

Recommended Posts

Is it the norm for British pubs in Pattaya to microwave pies?? <huh

Totally disgusting lump of SOGGY pastry containing mince and onions arrived. So bad I couldn't eat it.

Does anyone know of a British pub in Pattaya that does not microwave its pies??

AFAIK There are very few places in Pattaya that actually have Ovens.

PS It takes 20 to 30minutes to heat a pie properly in an oven and many blokes don't want to wait that long ,whether in the UK or Pattaya

I was wondering about that, since a microwave pie on the street takes a couple of minutes, but an oven-cooked pie would take much longer...at least 20 minutes as you say.

As to the OP's question, unless you have found a sit down restaurant where you expect to wait a long time for your order, there might not be any places that do other than microwave.

You could always buy one at Villa or Foodland and bake it yourself.

If I ever go to the UK remind me never to eat a pie. It seems that only the Kiwis take the time to cook their pies just right in the oven.

ok , to put this to bed, the only place to have a good pie is only at a place called seaside at the bottom of soi seven, past the rib place on the right, you walk thru the alley way and come out into an area of restaurants and the seaside is on your right. Its very popular with the brits and the english food ( except the liver and bacon ) is very good

Here's my tuppence worth for any chefs reading - as I live in another place (France) that says it has the best food in the world - this means of course you can't get pork pies - certainly not Taylors Pork Pies from Darlington.

I bring 20 back each trip to UK (about once a year) and freeze them. Then microwave from frozen for 3 mins on 500, oven is preheated to 200C and pop it in for 15 mins - comes out crisp!!!!

Think I'll have one now...... I quite enjoyed the pork pie at the Queen Vic on soi 6 BTW. Other pies from that place on soi Diana/BUakhow corner - cheap and cheerful.

Bored? Me too...... wheels up in exactly 3 weeks...

  • 4 months later...

In the good old days you simply went to Faulty Towers at the bottom of Soi Seven. A real jem of a place in its day. Now I am either in Neroys, Canterbury Tales Cafe or The little Wonder in the central arcade Soi Diana. But lets be honest there's more to life than pies.

I like my chicken and mushroom pies too when in Pattaya. As far as I can tell, the pies at Jamesons and Shenanigans were not microwaved and were very good.

The worst pie I had was at Secrets, no offense aa they have a lot of other good qualities to offer, but I hope the Queen didn't get served one of those pies. :clap1

Wrong, in the UK buy your pie straight from the bakers, just cooked. That is my first point of call when I get back there... Greenhalgh's or Green's for a pie and a pastie....yum. Then off to Wetherspoons for a pint of Guinness.

Pub food is what it is, in the UK and Pattaya, something quick and easy. Rarely very good,

The guy who cruises around with his motorbike and sidecar has reasonable pies, with gravy as well, but the pies are not red hot.

When I am in Pattaya I only have the occasional meat pie, stickt to pussy pie
