Shoud I go to Pattaya in late June

Recommended Posts

Hello all, this is my first post here. Having done 2 holidays in Pattaya in the last 6 months (November and March), I now have to lay off for a bit for work and financial reasons. What is really appealing is saving it as an option for my 40th birthday in June 2009 (24th). Just wondered if anyone can give some insight on whether going at this time of year is a good idea or not ? I'm thinking of going for a week either side of my birthday. Does the rain cause many problems in the city? I saw some bad flood photos on a website. As for the number of visitors at that time I preferred going in March when it was quieter as there's more available obv lol so I'm happy to go at quieter periods.

welcome to the forum

you should be ok at the end of June the times i have been there it only seems to rain for about an hour once every day or 2 certainly not enough to spoil your holiday.

i quite like sitting in a bar watching it rain out side whilst drinking a cool beer its quite relaxing and some times funny watching what lengths the girls go to to keep there hair dry :P

If you have a lot of steel implants you could rust. Trying to think of other problems, and I can't.

The rainy season is pretty malleable, but it actually starts in July on average. You may go a lot of days without rain at the end of June, although this year is shaping up as a little wetter than standard, probably because of the global cooling.

There couldn't be a better place to spend your 40th, no matter what time of year.

The weather is unpredictable in Thailand these days, the same as it is in the rest of the world.

Whether it be global warming or just a natural pattern the planet is in. (I am not attempting to start that debate)

We seem to be in a extreme period worldwide. Heavy rain, drought, Typhoons, twisters, etc.

For example, there has been much rain in Pattaya for the last couple of weeks.

Could be no rain at all in July. Or it could rain everyday. At any rate, the rain only gives you a good reason to stay inside with your Teelak, it is usually just for a period of time each day and if you can get time off work to come, you should be searching for airfare rather then perusing pattayapages.

Skylar. Are you in Pattaya?

If so, look out the window or door. See that weather out there? Tomorrow it will be almost exactly the same.

One of the few really truly boring things about living in Thailand is the weather, which is unbelievably predictable. Even the odd Bengali cyclone remnant, once every 10 years or so, is known a week in advance. Pattaya weather prediction is even more boring than that.

The biggest job sinecure in Thailand is chief meteorologist.

Yeah, rain does not bother me. When I was there in March I actually found the sun a bit too energy sapping (during the day).

I just wondered if the amenities get fucked up by it.

The money's going away for the trip now!! :D :thumbup

I've been in Pattaya June and/or July just about every year since 2001.

Can only recall one time when rain caused a problem.

2003 was in Stardice disco off Naklua Road and it was pouring when leaving.

The roads around Soi Buakhao and Soi Diana were flooded but the taxi managed to get thru with water up to the exhaust pipe.

Next morning was sunny with only a few biggish puddles as evidence of the record deluge.

Other than that, any heavy rain was usually no more than brief.

Be there again in 5 weeks and a bit.

Have a good one.

chico, grrrrrrrrruff :clap2

Great to see lots of experienced mongers giving the thumbs up to this time of year.

I am going to be in Pattaya around June/July as well and was concerned about weather.

I will be looking to play golf, so a shyte load of rain wouldn't be good.

As I understand it, it rains for a hour or so some days then that's about it.

Question - being tropical does it rain afternoons generally at this time?

According to your post, you filed at 2:10 p.m. Most rain actually occurs after that.

Bad joke.

There are ordinary rainstorms from time to time of course, but even they are usually at night. Monsoon rain is almost always late afternoon, sometimes in the evening, i.e. rarely before 4pm.

Was in Pattaya last year from July 4 to July 25 and didn't have any problems due to rain. Most days when it did rain it was early afternoon when I was sitting around the hotel or at the mall anyway. By 8 pm when I was ready to head out to the bars everything was fine. Don't worry about the weather, go and enjoy your B-day.
