Hi BM's

I am trying to find the names of hotels that have been built within the last 2 years.

Location....The Soi Boukuaw or Central Pattaya or South Pattaya or 2nd Road Areas.

Price Range... 1500 baht or less per night.

Time frame..... arriving the first week of August.

Thanks.

Are you also considering new hotels that have been refurnished and changed names and owner? They have quite a few of those in that area, and some of the rooms are immaculate for the money you spend, most all of which are under 1000baht a night.

I have found for the price Pattaya have far more good rooms to stay at a very good rate than most places around the world.

Wish Cambodia was the same ,for same price rooms are very basic

Looking to go to Goa to a wedding invite in March ,very hard to find a very good room and pay the same price as

I would in Pattaya.

and if you go to othe holiday locations around Thailand the same standard room as Pattaya which I use I would

have to pay a lot more ,like in Phuket ,Koh Chang,Koh Sumui,Hua Hin,ect

Thats one of the draws about Pattaya being a home base for people looking to travel elsewhere in Thailand as well. You can rent a place by the month so cheaply here, and get a nice room for the money, that its easier to just leave the bulk of your stuff there, and pack what you need for any of your other excursions. I know almost every street in Patts, you can find some really great deals. I just don't like some of the Beach Rd. places that bait and switch you. They have the permanent signs up for one price, then when you stop in, they never have the rooms for those prices, those rooms were "all rented out."

Soi Buakhao, WS, Soi Metro, Pratumnak Hill, anywhere you go in Patts, they have new hotels or newly renovated hotel or guesthouses. I think thats one of the things that makes it so great. Many times I've pulled into town and just stopped off at hotels and seen what they had for rooms and prices, and have been relatively happy with most of the places I've stayed. Nothing beats a cheaper then expected price on a nice room!!

Orn's place,Soi Honey,opposite Honey Inn.

Superior room approx 700b per night.

No pool or restaurant but plenty within walking distance.

Has anyone stayed at Orns Place and can provide a bit of a review of the place, outline room facilities etc ?

Is it a guest house or a hotel. Do they have a website etc

Thanks

Nova Platinum fits the bill.

Great pool, waterfall, Jacuzzi, swim-up bar, gym. Free Wifi. Brand New. 32 inch flat screen with DVD.

I have not stayed, but a friend told me it was great.

Near walking, South Pattaya Rd., Jomtien.

Look at photos. Looks just like the place.

Part of the Amari group, but girl friendly.

I frequently stay at Jasmine Hotel on Soi BJ, just off Walking Street. I think it was build 3 years ago. Very basic, no pool, no phone,

no elevator (but can usually get a room on 2nd floor). Great location and price, last summer I paid 450/night. 800 high season.

Thats another trick for a lot of you guys booking your hotels as well as someone had just said. I stayed a few times at Phuphaya Resort, whenever we walked in, they were 850 a night. When my friends would look at their website, they were something around 1300 and change.

Rather then booking online or through emails, call the hotels directly and you will often get cheaper prices, as they want to lock in the dates and fill the rooms. This would probably be more true of some of the mid-sized hotels, not chain owned or anything where the prices are set in stone.

The Citin Loft falls within your parameters (1,200/baht night). It opened in April. Great place, I stayed there in May. http://www.citinloftpattaya.com/index.html

This Nova Platinum Hotel looks fantastic. I've always stayed at the Sunshine Hotel (Soi 8).... but the place (including the "new wing") is dated and their room prices are just a bit higher than what this new Nova Platinum Hotel is listing. I've always like the Sunshine's location... but I think I will give this new hotel a try - their location looks good as well.

Thanks for the link. ---- Farsider

I am wondering if some guys could comment on the general location of this Nova Platinum - (and it appears to be near the Residence Garden). My main concern is how "convenient" and also safe is this location to walk to & from Walking Street at night?

I have always stayed at the Sunshine Hotel (Soi 8)... pretty good hotel, but a bit dated. I like the Soi 8 & Soi 7 area (with Soi 6 not too far off!). And it is pretty convenient to jump on a taxi truck if I want to go to Walking Street. Just about anytime day or night I find the general area around the Sunshine to be safe. Of course... it is always advisable to "be on your toes". I don't drink much so I'm never wandering around drunk. But back to my question.... I think it would cool to try another hotel, and maybe stay in a different part of town. But I've never really walked around the streets off of Walking Street towards the area where it looks like the Nova & the Residence are located. I don't want to get there and find out that the walk is 10+ minutes and that it is better to take a taxi when it gets late. Can anyone comment on this? Thanks.

Personally it is just totally out of the area I would even consider staying. Period.

Like your good self, I like the area from soi 7/8 up to about soi Diana etc.

Getting home safely at night is a major consideration and while Nova Platinum looks great, its in a totally wrong area for me.

The area is totally a deal breaker for me. Others may love it of course - up to then.

This hotel is located on Thappraya (sic) Rd which is the main road between Pattaya and Jomtien. Its just a very short distance to where the Marine Plaza hotel is located. From the Marine Plaza hotel you can either take the short walk to Walking St either going towards Covent Gardens or past the Coyotee go-go and Blues Factory to Walking St.
