Tequila Reef, Soi 7

Recommended Posts

If Tequila Reef was located in L.A. They'd be out of business for mediocre Mexican food. They do serve a very tasty fish & chip Mexican style.

Mediocre? You're being kind Denny.

Hope you are well.

Admittedly, not the best Mexican food in the world. But better than much of what is available in the area.

Can be a good place to run into fellow Yanks.

I have heard they have a place in AC? Anybody eaten there?

I would say that comment can be applied to a few other foreign restaurants here too.

Lazy falangs who set up a business and then apply Thai management.

Quite a few Pattaya venues who insult Italy with poor food and most un-Italian like ways of serving it.

It's a damned good place for Thai food though.....

Not sure about KFC or McDonalds here, mostly shite worldwide!

last time I had chili there was 2006 and it was the best i'd ever had! Never really ordered much else off of the menu.

I think the chilli is the best thing on the menu, and I've been there prolly 75 times over the last 9 years. A "cup" with the cheese on top and soft tortillas for dipping is a meal itself. TIT though, and could suck tomorrow. Anyone know if the heavy ap jit Thai with the pony tail is still the cook? Or if Kat is still the manager?

The margaritas are good too, 10% off with the PSC card and they will make you one to go in a big plastic cup.. Had many a great morning playing golf early, then to TR for a few margaritas, and then to TQ1 around 2 or 3. I used to book a suite at the Eastinny Place 17th floor on a regular basis for around 1400-1600 baht, and would just drop my clubs off.

I find the food at Tequila Reef to be fookin brilliant! Some of the stuff on the menu is shite, but if you know what to order it is very tasty indeed. I make it a point to go out of my way to eat there whenever I am in the area.

The sizzling fajitas are brilliant. The ribs and BBQ chicken are very good. The hard shell tacos are my favorite. The chilli and cheese nachos are luverly if you have them leave off the cheese and use the free salsa to smother them. The burritos are just mediocre, but used to be awesome when Rob was doing the cooking. The chilli burger is great. The chicken salad is great. The free chips and salsa are vry good as well. The margaritas are second to none in Pattaya.

They are opening a franshise in Bangkok now as well.

You obviously don't know the first thing about Mexican food.

I know if I want good Mexican food, that I should go to Mexico. After that, I will take the best thing available.

California comes in a pretty close second place, unfortunately. I've been told by native Mexicans that the Mexican food is better in The States, with the right cooks, because of better quality ingredients.

Someone either on this board or another recently said the same thing about Thai food.

I think I would go along with that, having stayed in Mexico for a few years you do have to be careful where you eat.

California might well come in second....after Texas!

  • 1 month later...

The food is alright...not bad for where it's at. I go mainly for the huge daiquiri's and margaritas. Makes for a really interesting night/ afternoon. 2 of those large daiquiris and walking back down to the hotel makes it a real adventure :chogdee :beer :beer

Sounds a good venue for lunch, hopefully there won't be any dim-witted bullies around pretending to be important.

Why is that? I am merely keeping the thread on track. I will be having the 3 taco combo this weekend at the Reef. One beef, one pork, and one chicken. Fookin brilliant! Sloppy chili nachos as well. Woooohoooo!
