Dentist Costs in Thailand ,is this a true reflection in what i have found?

What your experiance and cost of your Dentist work you have had in Thailand?

 

 

I have just had at a Clinic in Khon Kaen descale and clean ,cost 500 bhts including check up ,thats about £10 in uk now its £16 + on National Health. Time took 45 minutes and far better job that I have had before in the UK.

In Patts and BKK price range from 600 bhts to 1000 bhts in which I read on web site.

 

I also think I need a Crown/Cap was quoted about 7500 bhts but think this is only for basic metal,

 

Why I went to DENTIST in first place was for my Tg ,as she has a very loose front tooth which needs replacing.

 

At private clinic in Khon Kaen for new screw implant including new crown was 20000 bhts

 

I thought this sounded expensive but checking same treatment in Pattaya and BKK

the costs ranged from 49000 bhts to 70000 bhts depending where you go.

 

I know same in UK would cost £1200 ,

 

The cheapest I found on the web for the same treatment was £365 in a east European country .

 

So the price in quoted in Khon Kaen at 20000 bhts seems not to bad now.

 

But I have been told same treatment at the Khon Kaen Uni Denist Hospital is cheaper and been told

you receive very good tratment there also this Uni trains very good Dentists who then move on to very

good jobs around the world with their very good qualifications

Have any body used the Khon Kaen Dentist Hospital before?

 

I do know if any body travels to Thailand and get Dentist work ,it may be more expensive in BBK and Pattaya

than other areas of Thailand as I have done a lot of searching on the web for this information ?

 

Just for informatiom my Tg daughter who is under 6 years old received minor dentist work from Khon Kaen Hospital

this was free as she is registered living in the area of Khon Kaen

Not a direct answer but somewhat related. I have a pre-existing medical condition which requires me to have an annual check-up that subsequently sometimes results in me having surgery. Not a big deal. The first time I done it in LOS it cost 70k + nursing and accommodation fees which came out at around 100k all-in at Bumrungrad. A year later the same procedures were 120k at Vejthani. It was suggested to me that I should try the local hospital which is co-located with Prince of Songkhla University - alternatively, it was actually cheaper to fly back to UK in biz class and have the procedures done for free on the NHS. The price quoted there is 1.1k for the initial check-up and 11k for any subsequent surgery. Co-incidentally the specialist involved is the same guy that I would see if I went private to Bangkok-Hadyai Hospital. However, there is a requirement that you need a social security card or work permit to get the base prices. I did notice that PSU also has a large Faculty of Dentistry and you can get work done there at 10-20% of what it costs to go private.

 

I think in a lot of cases you are paying a large premium simply to jump the queue by going private. It's OK for emergencies and unforeseen things which are covered by my insurance but for things that you can plan in advance it seems a bit of a waste of money to me.

I agree Dentist cost here can be a tad expensive,but for some treatment 50% cheaper + no air fare to pay for living

No wonder my Bupa does not include Dentists costs only for emergency surgery.

 

I do know NHS back in UK you can not get dental implant and crown on NHS ,you only get a plastict tooth maybe on a pallet.

As I visit both angeles and pattaya I have now started getting dental work done in AC. found a good dentist, and very reasonable. I had three white, porcelain crowns done, each costing the equivalent of 3,000 baht. had them in about six months now and very pleased with the result.

Previously used a dentist in pattaya klang for six years, very good service and reasonable prices but no comparison with the cost in AC

As I visit both angeles and pattaya I have now started getting dental work done in AC. found a good dentist, and very reasonable. I had three white, porcelain crowns done, each costing the equivalent of 3,000 baht. had them in about six months now and very pleased with the result.

Kev thats seems a good price you was quoted as on their web site its quoting 60000 bhts for

full implant and crown.

Well found out how much Khon Kaen Uni ,dentist dept wanted for complete treatment of tooth implant

quoted 35/40000 bhts .

 

So today my lady had her tooth removed and temp plastic replacement on pallet from dentist clinic in Khon Kaen.

 

In about 1/2 months will have tooth implant cost quoted 22000 bhts ,think what iv seen on web and other quotes

this is good price ,at least 100% cheaper than having it done in the UK.

Thanks, we are staying at the residence gardens, I actually just wlked into the first joint I saw before I had breakfast yesterday morning just up from the Nags Head on 2nd Rd Royal something it was called I had a poreclain filling and cap cost 2500 which was more than I expected but still very cheap by home standards. I've got some mor ework to do so I will shop around now and get quotes.

so far I've had 8 crowns & several root channels done in the past 5 yrs all done at Pattaya International (most famous for Dr. Arry (sp.?) Bit more expensive but good work, prices go up every yr, but have been paying about 10,000tb per crown, that's 85% gold. Will probably need an implant but PIH dental does not do them, will defiantly consider PI if I can get a Dr. recommendation.

Got a few quotes on by emailing various dentists in Pattaya all depends on the type of Crown you want quality wise, basic preparation is around 2000 Baht, then for the basic Crown (Porcelain) expect to pay around another 5 or 6000 Baht but if you want a better quality Crown (more gold used) then add another 7500+.

 

Apparently the basic porcelain Crown can cause discolour to the gum over time but those with gold don't, also the Gold adds strength and they last longer.

 

Looks like a top of the range Crown will be around 12 to 14000 Baht, if your happy with the baics then all up about 8000 Baht, so still very cheap compared to any western country.

I may try and find a good quality/reasonable price dentist for a check up etc this trip. I have been going to the same practice in the UK for 50 years until last March(08) and have not been to a dentist since, just use Listerine.

 

Obviously the prime reason for giving up on my dentist is the price, I have to pay £60+ pa for 2 check ups and I got hit for my first £30 plus another £50 for about two minutes work replacing a filling, total £80 for about 5 mins.

 

My teeth feel OK but a check up at LOS prices won't do any harm, may save later probs in the UK. In later life I don't want a TG to say "while you boom boom me, nibble my ears" and then i have to get my teeth out of the glass.

Had a Crown done at BK Dental on 3rd Road, nearly fell off my chair when they told me it wasn't going to cost as much as there original quote as i had the preparation done before i left Australia, they didnt realise i was doing this, i would never have known had they charged me anyway, so cost of the Crown was 8000 Baht, then paid another 500 Baht to have my teeth cleaned.

 

Had the work checked by dentist back in Oz, couldn't fault it.

 

Ironic also that although my health insurance didnt cover cost of a Crown in Oz, i was able to claim some of the preparation cost as i wasn't having a crown ?, go figure

 

What i saved paid for my Airline ticket and Hotel, plus a few beers during a week long stay.

Here in the Uk i do Krav Maga israeli fighting, i got a punch to the jaw which broke my back tooth, i am not even bothering with UK dentists as i am in Pattaya in March and will visit the clinic in the secong road shopping Mall is half the price and the job is not rushed ! what i save is help pay for the flight !

i actually feel like that myself ! but i done martial arts on and off since 12 years old and if i dont do it i get so pissed off.

 

i was in the gun trade Section 5 for a few years now work part time as the consultant for several newspapers on illegal weapons typically the Baikal gas pistols being smuggled into the uk from lithuania that were converted by a local dentist in a panevezys town ( manchester police have a nightmare with them as tool of choice for shootings )

 

i have a trip to lithuania and trip to ukraine, both for research this time with a very well known reporter and good friend who i met from a tv show ( most dangerous cities)
