..... cheap hotel with a pool?

I like Opey De Place or J&P Court, but are there any better ones for the money?

Posted

It depends on much more than that. The two you mention don't have in room electronic safes so they are out of the reckoning in many people's books.

Not stayed at Opey but know a couple of pals who have. Apparantly there is one part a lot better than the other. A bit late now but can find out more info if you want mate.

Cheers, but no need to put yourself out, just wondering if anybody knew of anything off the top of their head - your time could be better used finishing your top 20 thread!

If you are travelling on a budget. Why bother with a pool? I doubt you will spend much time in it. If I remember the OpeyDePlace pool was nearly always in the shade! Ie cold and pointless sitting around. I expect the J&PCourt will be the same. You are never to far from the sea in Pattaya. Have a great trip

Some people ,like me,use the pool a lot so it is a must for some.Personally I will not stay someplace that has no pool,no matter how cheap it is,and I am a cheap charlie but, some things I can and do pay extra for.

My favorite cheap hotel with pool is Honey lodge near walking street

http://pattayaone.com/honeylodge.html

I agree with you. The Honey lodge has a nice pool, parking for motorbikes, friendly staff, air-con, easy to get to and from anywhere, and it's very reasonably priced. The only thing I didn't like was that the doors are not solid and secure feeling. Also they must be locked manually, they are not locked whenever the door closes.

Sun view apartments on Soi Buakhao. Not a huge pool, but a pool. Rooms about 850bht.

OR

Just walk around the rea of Areca Lodge and hop in their pool

good point. just use someone elses pool. They only charge a few baht a day. and if you find it lacking... go some where else tomorrow.

Thanks for the hotel suggestions - I'll check out their websites. Going for a month so need to keep costs down as much as I can - got to find a place in Patong too ( probably try soi banzaan this time), but not bothered about a pool there as the beach is nice!

For Patonng try C & N Hotel (not resort) - not bad place and pretty good location.

That's where I usually stay - great staff and nice enough hotel........ but there are a couple of cheaper places in soi banzaan that I've heard are OK, so I might try one as I've had a shit year workwise and need to watch the pennies a bit, but then again, I might end up in C&N again as you couldn't wish for a better location really!

Areca Lodge used to charge 200 Baht for non-resident pool use.

However, they were not accepting casual users in November as they were extending the decking area around the large pool.

As the new wing opens soon, meaning more congestion around the pool, I think management may stop non-resident use completely.

I found Opey ok,apart from air con smelled of stale fag smoke,I doubt filters were not cleaned often.

Place needs a general update.

stayed at opey a few years ago rooms looking abit worn, better value at pattaya bay resort.

Classic Thai ( and in some cases western) stupidity. Open, new fittings and then never spend anything on maintenance nor replacing items. Every single day you have to put something away for refurbishment. If you spend it, there is nothing left and it all goes downhill.

The nicest place that I've seen for around 700 baht a night (weekly rate of 5K) is the recently opened KTK hotel on Soi AR near Nova Park. Swimming pool, in room safe and wifi. They also have larger rooms.

Sabai Lodge has some nice pools, and, depending on the time of the year, you might be able to get a deal. The only drawback, in my mind,is the lack of free Wi-Fi. Maybe they've changed that by now. Anyway, there's no excuse in this day and age for not having free Wi-Fi.
