Ah, The Stanley Cup Play-Offs

You Kiwis are a bunch of idiots who can't even read and haven't a lick of sense.

And THINK ABOUT IT before you answer, jackass. There is an actual, real message in there for you. See if you can find it before it slaps your silly gay face.

Can't even read, bunch of idiots, jackass, silly gay face. :D Now we get a chance to see the real Joekicker, whose last line of defence is name-calling, not the Joekicker who normally thinks he writes wise posts and pretends to know everything.

Joe mate, this thread is about the great game of ice hockey, so stop thread fucking. :P

Aha, I just had another bite. :D

Ya'know, your first post was obviously humor. Your second post was boring. Your third and forth posts are just you jumping up and down yelling: "Look at me'.

On the plus side........I'm betting you won't walk away with an ounce of dignity and you'll go for posting numbers 5,6,7 and 8. Cuz that's the way you roll. :P

FAF. While I was typing this you don't let me down and blather on in post number 5. :D

Don't let a bit of banter get you hot under the collar. Get back on topic. I'm here to read about your opinions about the Stanley cup play-offs. :D

I was all set to watch the FIRST game of the Habs vs Pens and now I'm told they've already played three games, none of which went well, and are staring at elimination. So much for staying up to date. :D

Canada is the best ice hockey nation. They played all over you at the Olympic winter games a few short months ago, winning the gold medal. :D

Yeah, I know, it was in all the papers. :allright The captain of that gold-medal-winning Canadian team is still active in the Stanley Cup play-offs - Sidney Crosby of the defending NHL Champion Pittsburgh Penguins. I'm rooting for him, though I'm sure the idea of an American rooting for a Canadian in the NHL play-offs is too much for your brain to digest.

Forget about ice hockey. There is another thing I would like to point out. The OP with his hatred for what he calls soccer, should acknowledge the great interest shown by the American people in the Football World cup in South Africa next month. The most tickets for the cup so far have been bought by American citizens. :D

USA 130 000 tickets

United Kingdom 97 000 tickets

Australia 43 000 tickets.

Personally I don't give a shit, but it doesn't suprise me. Lots of people want to be able to say they attended a huge sports event like the world cup. Wembley Stadium is packed every year for the NFL's annual trip to London, but that doesn't mean most UK soccer fans give a dam about it. They tell me we (the USA) actually hosted a World Cup a few years ago. Guess I missed it. :ang2

As BB has so eloquently pointed out, this is a thread about The Stanley Cup Play-offs, so kindly take your soccer talk elsewhere. :banghead

Back on topic, hopefully the Pens will wrap it up in Montreal today and move on to the league championship series. the Habs defense is banged up, and Sid The Kid is overdue for a few goals. Go Pens!!! :D :D :ang2 :D :banghead

Sigh. How wrong can one person be in one thread? I realise you think you are a spectacular thread-phuocker, but I specifically asked you to read before replying. It was ever such good advice for you. I guess you didn't read the advice either. There's a clue field just south of Pattaya where they hand out free clues all day. Have a gander. Do you good just to pick up a couple, since you're obviously in dire need.

I think that figure of 130,000 tickets sold to Americans include the 129,000 sold to the superior American scalpers.

I have to say that the Canucks AND the Hawks surprised me. I wouldn't put more than a coin against a large bill on it, but based on Monday's game, Vancouver COULD do what I thought they'd do at the start, and actually win. They were quite good. Chicago was not, looked as shaky as the Sharks in their Game 5.

I still say the Philly-Boston series is the most entertaining of the quarter-finals. By coincidence, there's an excellent doco on the Broad Street Bullies going around right now that I torrented, very well done history -- ALL from the Philadelphia side but very watchable. Something I actually had forgotten was that Bill Clement was on that team, the guy that did ESPN hockey colour for a long time.

Lol. You couldn't get me hot, not even in your best pumps. Like I said, your first post was humorous and after that you just keep doing a bad job of treading water. Seriously dude, you're just the latest unoriginal schmuck, in a long line of unoriginal schmucks who feels the need to poke at anything remotely American.

As to the Stanley Cup playoffs.......... please share your insights, favorite team, etc. etc. Me, I'm a Shark fan from about 10 years back and having been to a few playoff games I can attest to the fact that being there is electrifying. What's your take on Manny Malhotra? Personally, I think he was a bigger acquisition than Dany Heatley as far as solidifying the team.

Sorry Vic but Moray Awl was simply the better team once again. They really have it together at the moment. Crosby and Malkin aren't in a slump, they are in a hard-checking, forechecking vice. They can't break loose. Pens went the whole first half of the second period without a shot. For example.

Pens can win but I have to give half a goal to les Habs now, back at the Mellon.

Well, the Habs are taking it to seven. Got home in time to see the last ten minutes of the game. Other than scoring a late goal in the last two minutes after having pulled their goalie, the Pens did not look at very good at all.

Montreal outplayed the flightless birds. They are displaying grit and a no-quit work ethic. They've decided to attack more, not sit back and get bombarded. Its great to watch.

Fast paced, hard hitting games with lots of action. Gotta love HNIC showing all the penalties the Pens are "getting away with"...if it were the other way around, (or perceived to be), they would think it their right. Fuckin' Hilarious.

I'd be rooting for the Habs if they weren't playing the Penguins. Great Cinderella story. Alas, I think Midnight is approaching, and the Habs will turn into a pumpkin after game 7.

That said, it would be cool to watch the Canadians and the Blackhawks in an old school Stanley Cup final.

10 seconds in, Sid gets the dumbest boarding penalty in the history of hockey, right at centre ice in front of the ref, causing NO damage to the guy he boarded, who actually looks bemused as he gets up and skates away unharmed. 12 seconds later, a sleepy Fleury watches a backhand go in under his arm. And it's on a delayed SECOND penalty call to the Penguins at that.

That is unprepared. Really bad. Good for Moray Awl to come out skating hard and taking advantage of Pittsburgh.

Montreal leads 4-2 after two, but the Habs are racking up the penalties....really. M-A Fleury pulled at 9 minute mark of 2nd with Pens trailing 4-0.

5-2 and it's all over (surely). The Pens can start calling for tee times.

The best team won, best in everything, from start to now nine and a half to go. Penguins simply didn't want it, got outplayed and outhustled and outthought and out-achieved.

I didn't see a second of it  -- had to read the result online -- but what a spectacular comeback!

It's rare to come back from a 3-1 deficit, Les Glorieux came back from 3-1 and then from 3-2.

Read all about it here!

It appears we may need to start practicing the French version of O Canada.

The headline on ESPN.com says it all: Hab-Solute Shocker. :yikes:

My Pens played like crap. :ang2 I give Montreal all the credit in the world. :bow An 8 seed who beat the number one team in the NHL (Washington) and the defending Stanley Cup Champs (Pens). They are the ultimate underdogs, and I hope they go all the way.

Sort of overshadowed by the Habs, how about them Flyers? They put Mike Leighton between the pipes for his first ever play-off start and he stops 30 shots. A series that looked like it was wrapped up with a pretty black & gold bow for the Bruins is now heading to game 7. Flyers and Habs in the East final? :eyecrazy :wtf

The West is set with the Sharks vs the Blackhawks. That should be a hell of a series as well.

My team is out, but I still love post season hockey! :D

The French version is way better than the English version. The English has too much "stand on guard, stand on guard." The French is a much better poem, even though it doesn't make any sense. Car ton bras sait porter lépée, il sait porter la croix "Because your arm knows how to carry the sword, it knows how to carry the cross" WTF?? But it sounds great.

In retrospect I'm not surprised the mighty Habs got past the Washington Choke-it-alls, but to grind it out like that against the defending champs was an amazing feat. Now some more great hockey to come, whether it's against the Flyers or the Bruins.

Anybody know where I can watch it online? :thumbup

LDK, French is the original and BTW, "porter" is also "wear" and the meaning may be closer to "knows/understands to wear" rather than "knows how" (I grew up in French Montreal). Enough pedantry, you're right the English one is crap. But overall its a crummy "anthem", not inspiring at all.

Habs penalty killing is fantastic. Caps were 1/33 I think and they shut down the Pens. Habs also rang two off the post and could have been 6-2 after two. And one Pens goal was a bit of a gift, bouncing off an official on to the shooter's stick. And remember they had the Caps by the nutz 5-2 and blew a lead to lose in OT. Had they held on they would have whizzed Ovechokin in 6. They are well-coached and disciplined with obviously good vibes in the room.

Now they have some extra rest after 14 games in 28 days and two very tough series. Gill's gash can heal more and maybe Markov can even play. Boston is no worry, they are like me in high school - can't score. And I think Habs are better than Philly too.

Its great to be a Montrealer these days!
