register uk passport?

Hi, can anybody tell me if i need to register my uk passport before travel?

 

Ive not been told anything by travel companies, but a family member mentioned that i have to!!

 

Thing is, i fly tomorrow!!!!

 

Can anybody help? and if u do, who with?

I'm not sure what this is all about.

 

If you do "on-line" check-in, you will be asked for your passport details.

 

If you subscribe to one of the "card protection" companies (e.g. Sentinel), it is sensible to register your passport as well as your bits of plastic.

 

I can't think what else your family member could have had in mind. Of course, you could always ask him/her!

Yes, er, um. How weird. Your passport is "registered" with the government when you get it.

This surely refers to Advance Passenger Information and as Bazle says

you will be asked for all your details from your passport if you do an online check in.

Most airlines seem to ask for this information well in advance these days.

Perhaps the "Register" being referred to is with the Locate website.

Yes I think this is what the OP means.

It is particularly necessary for flights to the USA.

 

Done online with the airline.
