Weather is still pleasant. Good time to visit. Then again I think any month is a good time to visit.

It's Chinese New Year celebrations commencing 3rd February, and of course Valentines Day on the 14th.

These two were a real blast last year :allright. February would be a good time to visit IMHO.

I assume you realised that he was taking the piss?

I've been in Pattaya before for Cobra Gold, Valentines day and Chinese New year.

Cobra gold - saw a few groups of guys earlier in the night, a few establishments putting up signs etc trying to encourage them in and thats about it.

Valentines day - No different

Chinese New Year - Busier on walking street than the days before and after, think they had some stalls and cooking going on in the middle of the street and a dragon going up and down the street and in and out of some bars.

Noticed no real impact on my mongering :)

Cobra Gold dates have been announced for the 7th to the 18th of February. Does anyone know if the troops are in town after the excersizes or just during that period?

Last year some of the military guys were around for quite a while after cobra gold officially ended.

They were all well behaved & respectful to anyone they encountered.

They may well have been briefed in PR before they did the rounds of the usual places.

I ran into a few in Hammers bar where they took a lot of photos & a had a quick drink before

continuing with their crawl. There was a sober looking guy who may have been "the driver".

They left a good impression unlike some squadies from other countries I could mention who seem to delight in in letting their country down with their antics.

As someone mentioned, a lot of the bars had banners welcoming the cobra gold guys as they knew from previous times they were going to be hassle free.

cheers rogero :thumbup :devil :beer

Do Thai people celebrate Valentines day themselves ?

At least one will. In my loom at Sabai lodge. If they get flowers and some chocolate and a meal out of it they will.

Many do, but mostly the ones that hang out with falangs. Thai's seem to like anything that has to do with the western lifestyle. Ever been to Thailand at Christmas? all the stores are decked out with holiday cheer.
