Deaths of Tourists

Recommended Posts

Found a website set up in relation to deaths of tourists in various locations in Thailand. Some interesting cases, but what was shitting was, the whole site turned into a Thai tourism beat down. Check out some of the responses and you will see what I mean. I have to say of the clowns that commented would be better off staying at home anyway, nothing but soft cocks or elderly woman, who expect the same treatment as back home. Check it out and tell me what you think:-

Well, I read the main page and it is sad that the beautiful young women in the photo died in Thailand  .....Young people like that should not be going home in coffins....I think any website that encourages street smarts and safety is a good thing...The website sounds and looks like it can be helpful to travelers IMHO....

One of the things that Thailand Tourism needs to deal with is all the Farang that go flying over balconies, and then just calling the cases suicides or accidents...There is no possible way that the Dead Farang are committing suicide or having accidents.....These are Homicides, no matter what the authorities say IMHO....

Whether it means clamping down on the Russian Mafia, or changing the building codes for balconies, Thai Authorities and Tourism needs to to deal with all of the Farang fatalities being called suicides or accidents...IMHO

Oh, I wouldnt be so sure about the fact that Farangs wouldnt jump off balconies. There are plenty of lonely men out there, and after spending a few weeks in Pattaya, and usually all their hard earned money, many of them cannot face going home to freezing Europe or where ever they come from. Sad but all too true.

Well, if that were the case that Farang actually jump off balconies in large numbers, then why doesnt that happen all over Europe and America?

Why is it that Farang only jump to their death on a daily basis in Thailand? :D

Anyway, I think I will have a drink! :hairout

New member, 3 posts... and "advertising" a website that was registered less than a month ago and has such a low keyword ranking right now that you would have to key in the exact website name to google to find it... (meaning, you didnt just stumble on it).

Oh, and registered to someone from your country as well.. NZ :)

Its ok to advertise your website... but don't lie about it.

I dont think I said anything about google to find this web site. I actually read the story in my local paper "THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD" Thats right, Sydney AUSTRALIA, you may have heard of it. Trust me there is a difference between OZ and NZ. So cynical, yet so far from the truth. Nevermind nice try.

Ahh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad lol.

The flags are mighty similar tho lol. :D

Still... first post? Like I said... tis ok to advertise.

Hahaha, I give you a break on the flag front, your right there. But seriously, what do you think about the content of that website? First, the tragic stories, very upsetting, but some of those posting on there are just down right rude. It was started up by a father but has been ambushed by red necks. I think they forgot a moderator for the site!!!!!!

Frosty,

It seems your incompetence is right up there alongside that of the Thai police. :thumbup

The ongoing story has been big news in the UK and Oz/NZ for a while now. :D

Or, more plausible, you could have just been reading The Telegraph (or any one of several online newspapers) that have carried the story recently.

A simple search on Richard Carter Thailand brings up the website as the first ranked result.

There's an informative thread with facts and stuff on this, in a forum... lessee, if I can remember, oh, right, the forum at Pattayatalk.com

People jump off high buildings because they are there. In Hong Kong it is THE number one form of suicide, for example. In the US, the gun is a common suicide tool, guess why? And so on.

The information is out there.

Oh, and it is not "farang" who jump off balconies. Thais jump off buildings. You don't have to do the research, if you've a real curiosity, go and FIND the research, read up on it. You could start right in this forum, move on to find more real, actual research. So long as you're not afraid to adjust your scepticism and beliefs as you take in new facts and research.

mm yes probably will be an interesting if not sad gathering of incidents. However is it just me?( and I am not being disrespectful here to that which has been written in respect of the deceased) but has anyone after their first visit to Thailand found that which would be health and safety issues in other countries to be nothing other than a source of entertainment now and again for us. I am aware like I am sure thousands of others of the dangers (outside the chicken run of soi6) of Thailand and exercise caution to the best of my ability more so when sober! I mean just take a look at scaffolding around buildings several storeys high and thats concerning the safety of their own people! No just appreciate it for what it is and ejoy it with care.

Isn't it a new site set up by the father of one of those girls poisoned several months ago up in Chiang Mai? I've read about the site on Thaivisa or Teakdoor; somewhere. I don't know that some foriegners do commit suicide in Thailand but I am just as sure some of them are murders being swept under the rug by the Thai authorities.

But WHY are you so sure? Put like that ^^ in your post, it just sounds like an irrational conspiracy theory. You're in a very, very tiny minority. Extraordinary claims require... well, SOME proof surely?

I would guess that most farangs that go over the rail of a balcony do so in a haze of booze and love for a working girl that isn't interested in a farang that has already spent all of his baht. But a small number of cases, at least as they are reported in English language media, seam to beg for a bit more investigation. Fact is that the Thai's just don't have resources so it is more of a case of buyer beware as there are Thai's that take advantage of farangs in Thailand and the police seem either not to be able to nor inclined to anything about it. Fortunately in the vast majority of Thai's you meet are the nicest, most helpful people on earth. I fortunately have only experienced the latter.

"Well let me just say, that if the governments of Australia and New Zealand didnt provide social security payments half the population of those countries would need to be out on the street begging as well. " Baht Simpson.

Yes, thats pretty fuckin obvious. Thats why we pay tax and have a welfare system.

Sounds like you just discovered Thailand and are on a crusade to defend it.

Better take off the rose coloured glasses before some Thai's rip off your head and shit down your neck.

Suicides happen everywhere and in far greater numbers than you probably realize. The western media do not report suicides generally as it is something which engenders copy cats. Thai media has no such qualms so you hear far more about it here.

The Thai police do not usually cover up murders unless they have some financial involvement. One case I have never forgotten was an acquaintance of mine who was found dead in his room. He had a plastic bag over his head and his hands were handcuffed behind his back. Police verdict, suicide - forum opinion, obviously murder.

The reality was that he had sold up everything he had back home, run up huge debts, maxed out all his credit cards, wrote to his family apologizing for his actions and left a suicide note. He actually came to Pattaya to do the deed after he had used up all his funds. That was his plan from the start and he was partying here for over 3 months. I know all the details because his family contacted me through this website. The plastic bag and handcuff method is quite common. The bag asphyxiates you and the handcuffs stop you from chickening out . Sad but true.

The case of the NZ girl is still a mystery. Obviously not murder but something killed those people and I salute the father doing his best to find out what.

When I used to live near Soi Siam CC, there were a lot of Thais seemingly committing suicide by jumping infront of trains on the line there.

I don't see as many these days, perhaps they are now classified as RTAs as there is a road on each side these days.

Hahahaha yes right, well 15 years of visits to Thailand, I guess I might be still learning the pitfalls. How about you take off your Rose colour glasses about Oz and Nz. Your taxes go on paying for boat people and refugees who are going to sit on there ases for the rest of their lives. Oh you are soon going to be paying tax on Carbon for fuck sake.............So I think I would rather a Thai shit down my throat by my choice, Devils Den would be a good place to start, it would be better than fucked up the ass by my own government and not be able to do a damn thing about it!!!!!!! By the way been in a public hospital recently? Fucking disgrace, and thats your so called tax dollars at work..... give me Bangkok-Pattaya any day of the week.

How strange, I've never heard of such a thing. All through Thailand but especially in Bangkok, trains run through (slum) villages, with people living a metre from the tracks. That would be a very unattractive way to die, leaping under a train that's probably going about 8km an hour, yuck. Was this a fairly open area, trains at speed?

There must be loads of this "toxic seaweed" on the menu in seafood restaurants in Pattaya if they catch it anywhere near Pattaya beach. One to avoid. Media hysteria certainly won't put me off going to Thailand. I could become one of these statistics at any point myself, but I don't let that bother me.

Well trains hardly ever develop much speed in LOS do they? It was fairly open and there were not the really close slums one finds adjacent to the lines in the Big Mango.

Some were attributed to people falling asleep on the lines.... and most certainly the results were yuck.... many years back some unpleasant details were broadcast.
