thai airways international/domestic transfer BKK

Recommended Posts

I am arriving at BKK, then have a TG domestic flight to catch.

Interval is 95 minutes, which is short, however I don't have checked baggage to collect.

TG flight was purchased online so I can't print boarding pass, have to present documents, ie credit card, passport, receipt.

From reading the TG site, it seems I should be able to get thru customs/imigration and then make my way to the gate lounge and check in there.

Any tricks for getting thru customs/immigration faster?

Is there a transfer zone/desk I can transit through? Does this mean I can avoid going back thru security?

Any thoughts on the correctness of my assumptions, and how to streamline the process?

Thanks

Supposedly, you can purchase some sort of "fast track" service that speeds the process.

I've never had any big delay, though. The last time I went through to the boarding area, there were two or three people in front of me? I was in and good to go within about three minutes.

There are at least 3 fast track services at BKK. The least expensive (around 1250 IIRC) has has some complaints on other forums.

The one for around 1650 hasn't (and has had a few people comment favourably). You would need to pay for both directions though. E-mail and ask them. It has to be cheaper than paying for arrival and departure on separate days, as it would be the same fast track employee going both ways, I'd think. You just need the CIP passes not the people frankly. I doubt they'd add any additional help if you know the airport.

The "CIP" fast track is very fast. I used it arriving at BKK and I was the only person at immigration on arrival. On departure there is a red entrance next to the crew entrance to security and then separate CIP/crew/diplomat passport control. On my arrival I was in the luggage area in 10 minutes. On leaving I was through security and passport control in about the same.

I didn't pay as it was provided by Cathay Pacific for all first and business class passengers. You might want to use at least one of the two directions.

Look up Bangkok Fast Track on Google and you'll find them all.

95 minutes without baggage should be lots of time. You might spot a Thai International you could tell, as you move to immigration and then on to the domestic gates.

Request a wheelchair meet you at the gate in BKK. You will go through immigration with no wait.

Also, the last one off the aircraft and they don't appreciate an able body person using it as a mode of transportation :wanker

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I was aware of the fast track services, but not planning on using one but i might make inquiries. Wheelchair is an interesting idea, but not my style.
