Pattaya vs Jomtien

Jomtien is a good change of traffic pace from Pattaya. Periodically, I ride my bicycle to the bicycle shops on Therapasit Road and then cruise down to the very end of the beach road as it's very low traffic with nice warm ocean winds. On the way back, Soi 6 has some nice massage places to shower and get oiled up. If I still have energy, I can divert to Rioja, Kinaree Club, Jade House or any number of beer bars in the area. After that, it's a downhill ride home to Pattaya.

 

Variety can spice up your life.

I would assume most days you'll be going into town meaning Pattaya. Jomtien is really small and there's not a whole lot to do. I would stay in one of the Jomtien condos if I were to be there for a long stay, as its cheaper. But the downside is you're away from all the action. Having a motobike would help a lot. Would allow you to go places much faster than baht bus.

Its a tourist town, if they catch a few its what they do same as you I have never paid more than 10 baht...

 

Being a long stayer Pattaya is too busy, but for a two weeker or a person who wants to be in the mix all the time then Pattaya is the place.

I always found when visiting Jomtien, that if I tried to get on a bahtbus at the school, they would want to charge me for chartering it. I always had to walk round the corner and flag a bahtbus down. After about 3 times,I stopped trying to get on at the school.

Do you take barfines home on the bahtbus?

 

I agree about bhatbus and getting on at the school even during the day they will try charge you for chartering then still pick up on the way best walk 100 yards on and wait for a nice quiet bhatbus to flag down

That's 3 of us that the bahtbus drivers have tried to charge for chartering it, so it must be common. Although it's only another 90 baht, there is no way I am paying 10 times the going rate.

As Gabor said, go to the rank where they are parked up. It doesn't take long for the bus to fill up and move off. 10 Baht.

Do you rent a motorbike? If so you will have no problem with that arrangement. Elsewise if your out past midnight it will cost you a nice chunk to get home... between 100-300 baht. ... and for that price the driver will still stop for others etc. Other then that.it is closer to a nice beach for the daytime stuff.

 

I have traveled many times from Jomtien to Pattaya and vice versa before midnight, after midnight, 1.00 AM, 2.00 AM, 3.00 AM, 4.00 AM, 5.00 AM, 6.00 AM, 7.00 AM and at all times during the day. There is never a problem getting a Baht bus for 10 Bht, which will take you to Pattaya and Back for 10 Bht also. The only time it can take a while to get a Baht Bus is December/January, when the Russians tend to book them privately. But wait 5 minutes or so and one will eventually come along that picks up for the normal 10 Bht.

For drinking in Jomtien, the busiest area now is the bar complex at the other side of the new 2nd road, just across from the end of Soi 7. Soi 7 itself has many bars but most are deserted during low season. You will find many lookers in the bar complex and it is a good spot to have a few drinks, but obviously not comparable to Walking St.

It's more relaxed during the day with a cleaner longer beach than Pattaya, traffic is quieter and the air feels fresher as well.

Thanks mate. However that's what i do and also do at the bus station and on 2n Rd at Pattaya Tai , so I am aware how to work the baht buses at terminals. However the drivers come round and tried to get 100bht from me. Must have happened 3 different times before I gave up trying and just walk round the corner to flag them down. It must be tried by the drivers reasonably often i would have thought as 3 BMs have reported it in a thread with just a few hundred views. No big deal. The forum is all about us posting our different experiences.

Thats how it works, but baht bus drivers will try to scam if they can its well known, not sure what it proves the fare is 10 baht and there are designated places to get on.

If I sit and wait for the baht bus to fill up, I pay the ten baht to Jomtien like everyone else. If I flag one down and go from Pattaya to Jomtien or Jomtien to Pattaya, I now pay 20 baht.

I live on Jomtien and I like it very much.... much quiter, than Pattaya, less pollution and noise... For me Pattaya too busy for the daytime to live... Ten minutes to the WS and day and night no problem to return from Pattaya with the bahtbus from the school...

 

The beach slightly, but only slightly better, than Pattaya... also a sewer... However interesting to see the vendors, the people etc...

 

The bar scene ( 1 GOGO bar with their own clientele ) and many beer bars, but the quality of the girls are not the best... just like in the Pattaya beer bars... On my last trip I broke the ice and after 11 year behind me barfined a girl from a Jomtien beer bar.... It was like a time journey about her attitude.... I told her, she can go home, I still pay LT... but no, she stayed... cleaned my room, washed the dishes and cooked breakfast... despite I eat only fruits at the morning, but she didn't knew about it.... She was a 18 year old, big but pretty girl.. no mamasan and ladydrink crap... 300 baht barfine and a big wai receiving the 1000 baht..

 

 

U should have asked for your toenails to be cut and paint the living room too,and when u invite a lady back to the room,it should already be clean and dishes washed

just curious why you pay 20? did the price go up?
