I am planning a couple of 2 month trips. Can I independently get compehensive insurance to cover a rental bike. I know its unlikley but maybe it is possible

Stop by AA insurance. It's on the soi that runs next to Big C on Sukhemvit. Their number is 81 782 2196 If anyone can hook you up, they can.

It may be relavent for insurance cover, that you hold a full M.Bike license from your home country. Check that at the time. It may not be mentioned you do need one, until you try to claim.

Thanks for the replies. yes I have a full uk bike licence and also got a 1 year international licence. I will try the AA people

Not my strong subject but doesnt Mai Pang rentals offer a fully comp cover with their rentals (maybe others do too)

Even if you get insurance, what's your chance of getting a payout after a theft/accident? As a tourist who'll be leaving the country shortly, you haven't got a lot of leverage there.

Yes I believe they do, she adorned her wall with pictures of smiling falangs who had had their problem covered by the full insurance.
