Pattaya flooding again ?

Hi,

Looks like we could find Pattaya flooded again tomorrow or even in a few hours.

It's raining more or less regularly for a few hours and Pattaya Tai already became again "Pattaya Tai river" Lot of thunder and not any sign that the rain could stop. Just come back from Walking Street and there was 40 cm of water in Soi 14 on 2nd road side. Pattaya Tai sidewalk are under water and many shops have put sand bags again already.

Let's wait for tomorrow to see results of this rain...

Pattaya will never be flooded like other places are/have been. It can rain a lot and the drains can back up for hours. That's it. Up-country, in the river basins (and already in parts of Bangkok) it's weeks, not hours. Pattaya doesn't even have a river to overflow. Just consider yourselves lucky and try to refrain from comparisons because some millions are REALLY suffering, and not just a bit wet from the drizzle.

It all started with a heavy rain... we were in the Babydolls and when we decided to move the girl with us warned us about the rain... I thought, maybe just a business promotion, but opening the door all I saw was a waterfall.... A little bit later the rain became moderated, so we decided to enjoy it as an adventure....

but something strange.... water on the WS....

Why are you arguing about this? Pattaya gets some downpours and has water in the streets for a few hours. It does NOT get water washing away families and homes and a year's worth of work over a three or six-week period. It does not get all industry closed. The car factories around Pattaya stay open. In Ayutthaya, they close. It's a disaster for them.

 

I was not in Pattaya on Sept 11. If I was, would I have been in danger of dying in a landslide? Had my car submerged for 6 days? Been absolutely unable to drive because the highway was suddenly washed away in front AND behind me?

 

 

There are floods, and then there are floods. What Pattaya gets, the most dangerous and inconvenient thing is someone steps on a submerged electrical wire. Pattaya gets the occasional gully-washer. You'd think it was a three-day blizzard the way some talk about it. But even if it was, the point is it was three DAYS, not three weeks.

 

You want to see floods, read the Thai newspapers. Or the Vietnamese ones. Or the Pakistan ones. And enjoy the great weather and lack of flooding in Pattaya. You want to see floods, plan a day trip to Ayutthaya or Ang Thong and away you go, just a three, four-hour drive, right? Right?

 

This is a flood. Not just because it's way worse than Sept 11 in Pattaya but because it's been going on and on and on, and it's getting worse and it WILL get worse still.

While your point on English usage is correct, there are quite a few chaps who bring their 'girlfriends' or wives to Patts to enjoy threesomes with Thai girls. I don't know if that floats Gabor's boat or not - his business. But you can't automatically assume she's just a friend.

Just driven back to our house from Pattaya, we live in NaJomtien which is about 15kms. Pleanty of rain falling but it is not that really heavy tropical stuff that causes the flashfloods so hopfully there will not be the flooding that occured a few weeks ago.

I think the only person i saw happy with the rain was the guy on 2nd road selling kids umbrellas, the small ones with cartoon characters on them . He was knocking them out for 150 baht each and looked like he was doing a good trade.

I never trust the rain-fallen figures. That said, it's going to be a wet weekend and it's going to rain on Mondy and Tuesday for certain. Put those patent-leather boots and Brooks Brothers pants in a plastic bag in a high place in your house.

Well that's they're going out together, anyway. Although there's that awful black american new/er useage too. eg "Hey girlfriend" said from one female to another [who aren't fucking]. The proper word here is "envy" not jealousy. And yes, envy is an ugly trait. How could it not be otherwise, since envy is one of the 7 deadly sins. I confess, if he is fucking her and also here in Thailand fucking the Thai girls I have to pay for, I am definitely envious. I take that back. I am already envious that this babe was at one time his girlfriend. But envy is only one of the 7 deadly sins along with lust and 5 others that I never could relate to.
