Many mixed reviews on the place, but I can't recall anyone saying it was 4 or 5 star...or even close.

This place is good on soi 3 and you can have a chat to the girls as you stroll down to soi 6

Kindly stick to the subject. If he had asked for a better hotel than the Penthouse, your post would have been appropriate...but it wasn't.

And you don't think he is old enough to decide with out you?

Has nothing to do with the poster's age or experience.

I think you shouldn't be touting some venue that isn't being discussed.

Do you have anything to add about the Penthouse?

I stayed at the Penthouse once, in one of the suites on the 5th floor. Room had jacuzzi, dance podium, mirrored ceiling, and love swing, TV had a live feed to Kittens. It was OK to try out once but I wouldn't stay there again, and wouldn't recommend it. Hotel is old and located in a mostly gay area. Certainly not anything close to 4-star.

On its best day, which was quite some time ago, it wasn't even close to 4 star.

If it ever gets a good cleaning, it might once again be a weak 3-star, and I'll probably darken its doors again. My opinion? It's dark, dank, dusty, grimy and of course noisy just to add to the irritation. It's one of those places you wear your flip-flops everywhere *in* the room -- and try not to touch almost anything.

It was a terrific novelty, great idea when it started. Now? Shame they didn't keep it up.

There are fabulous hotels, and very good guest houses in Pattaya. The Penthouse today isn't one of them, not at any price.

Are you actually being serious?

Do a Google search and take a look, you will get a lot of hits!

I think all the opinions expressed here are from dull, unimaginative individuals.

The Penthouse hotel is unique. Very unique. Visually interesting to the point of being an incredible art piece.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know it's old and tired. But take a tour of the place before passing judgment. Especially the indoor pool.

You won't find anything like this hotel anywhere in all of Thailand.

The answer to the OP is simple. DO NOT book in there first thing. Take a room somewhere for a couple of nights and have a tour of the place. The reality is that there are great rooms, good rooms and crap rooms and you will have to pay top dollar if you want the top class experience, The issue is this; only you can decide what is value for money. Its a great location but I want a large pool, peace and quiet and at a reasonable price. No one can tell you the room rate because you have not said when you will be there or what facilities you want. Its all a bit of guess work unless you do the work yourself.

Anyone for Flip Flops?

First thing I have to admit to is that I ‘Go Barefoot in the Penthouse hotel.’ Yep – I’ve come out the closet with this revelation. When I stay there I walk around my room (sometimes I stay in a suite) totally barefoot with my flip flops in the closet.

Another admission is that I’m a touchy kind of person. I like to touch things and I have touched things in my room (sometimes I stay in a suite) and have lived to tell the tale despite staying there on a regular basis for the last ten years. I wonder exactly what things I shouldn’t have touched but there you go.

For me this hotel is sexy, quirky and functional all at the same time. I’ve read that it’s a brothel but for me a brothel conjures up images of madams with whips, chains and handcuffs. I’ve never seem any of this stuff. I would say it’s more soft porn with the all the mirrors, love bars, love swing, flashing Christmas lights and porn channels etc. Sometimes I try a suite with a Jacuzzi which is also a plus.

Yet another admission coming up. I love Issan girls and with the extra nourishment on offer I don’t have to wine and dine them. Only joking I do wine and dine them and enjoy intellectual conversation with them, building up chemistry, before we get down to any action. As for the action they do tend to like the rooms (sometimes I stay in a suite), forgetting about the extra nourishment, and the action is normally pretty hot even if I do say so myself.

Other things to enjoy are. Free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, free tea and coffee in the rooms/suites, free cold towels, free candy in the rooms/suites and all over the hotel. The beds are extremely comfortable with mattress that are more than 10 inches thick and they are big enough for about six people. Two free joiner fees and security will make sure all joiners are old enough to be joining you and keep their ID cards. The restaurant offers a full menu 24/7 and room service is also available 24/7 with the same menu. Maids are on call 24/7 as well so you can wake up when you want and get your room cleaned whenever you want.

They are currently upgrading the front of the hotel to accommodate the sun deck and outdoor spa pool on the second floor. I’ve recently stayed in one of the second floor rooms (214) that leads to the sun deck. Both room and sun deck are outstanding.

So, don’t be put off by comments about an old hotel. It might be old but the owners are giving it a lot of tendering loving care. As for star rating it’s a boutique hotel and my understanding is that the normal hotel star ratings don’t apply. I could be wrong. For me the value is extremely good so I give it five.

Take a look khun kanchan and enjoy Pattaya.

Speaking of handcuffs, I remember they were in the room the time I stayed at the Penthouse. Been staying there 10 years you say, and this is your FIRST post. I'd say you're a FAKE trying to promote this hotel. Nice try, Bud. :llaugh And thanks for the negative reputation. You've make your point, and I guarantee I will never stay at this bug-infested, fire trap again.

Hi Rhino,

Ah, take it you didn't like my first post. All that time an effort wasted on you even though I did give our favorite Issan girls a good plug. But all is not lost. The points I've made are for Kanchan and not you sir. FAKE - I really have never seen handcuffs in the hotel. If you did I hope you used them to your advantage. Did I make some FAKE statements? If I did then I would like to know what they are. The fact is everything I've said is true and it's up to Kanchan to check it out.

So in Summary.

Kanchan - Obviously I now have a negative reputation on this forum as my first post is a positive post about the Penthouse. This goes against the grain with many Thailand/Pattaya ex-pats. I hope you can lift yourself above this mentality and take a look yourself. Enjoy your stay in Pattaya.

Rhino - What can I say to you and your guarantee? Predictable is probably the best word. Enjoy your day.

FrannieBax - Having signed up I will try to use the forum more often and in a positive way that will entertain and provide knowledge to all members.

Best wishes

Frannie

I understand that one might have a good bit of fun prior... but the ultimate function of a room is a place to sleep it off.

Now Imagine when you drop off, mouth agape, snoring gently, a cockroach starts to crawl over the pillow towards you, attracted by the minty sugary aroma of toothpaste, or the kebab you didn't quite brush out, or som-tam breath.

Sleep well.

I used to always spend a couple of nights at the Penthouse. It was convenient and fun. The girls loved it once they found out I wasn't a pervert. There was this beautiful lead dancer from Malibu bar (not a LB ...I've seen some that were beautiful but NEVER one that could dance).... I had a great room on the top floor.......We emptied a whole bottle of bath foam into the jacuzzi....Foam was flying like snow flakes. Then she fashions a bikini from the bubbles and proceeded to pole dance on a platform above the tub. She could dance that one!!

The right girl and the right room in the Penthouse and you're a millionaire!!

Long live the Penthouse for those that enjoy living!

............I agree not for everyone on the board.

It is Chinese New Year AND it is high season. Pattaya will be very busy with tourists -- Hong Kong ,Singapore, China, Malaysia especially, and a lot of Thais.

and also any one got information about LK EMPRESS Hotel ( regarding how good is that hotel )

They got this new Google thingmy now, works a treat. Like any hotel, some will like it, some will have a bad experience. Location (for me) is just "okay". Price on the Internet site of 2,500 baht for a standard room is out of line, you should do much better -- although at New Year maybe not. I've not stayed inside it or even eaten there, but I've been in the lobby. To me it's a Goldilocks hotel in my opinion -- not too hot, not too terrible in all the usual aspects.
