When I was working in SoCal, I had a Honda Civic. My $500 deductible cost me $1.600 per year. When I bitched to the insurance agent he told me the Honda Civic was the most stolen car in SoCal. I was able to save a couple hundred a year when I installed a theft alarm.

Yeah...car insurance is way cheaper here due to fraudulent claims and ambulance chasing lawyers in the UK.

Depends what coverage you are talking about and for what vehicles. I paid $400 per year for third party coverage on a Jeep Grand Cherokee and about $500 per year when I had comprehensive coverage with about a $500 deductible In the USA

and where you live.

I pay $1900 CDN per year for the most basic coverage in Ontario.

They penalize me about 30% for my neighbourhood and the fact that I moved and decided to not have insurance on my car that was sitting idle for 6 months. I have a fantastic claims record and driving profile otherwise

Big Mac in Thailand $2.23

I don't think they are updating their figures correctly.

A Big Mac Set right now is 128b...over $4 USD.

Small notice: Pattaya price is not Thailand price.

Places like McDo or StarBuck, aimed at American and Russian people here,

are way more expensive in Pattaya (and probably Phuket) than in other Thai cities.

Could someone give us the Big Mac price somewhere in Isaan, or even in Chang Mai ?

I pulled the price off the mcthai.th.co site. Nothing to do with Pattaya.

I can't find pricing for an a la carte Big Mac.Still I can't recall having to spend $4.15 or so for a Big Mac with fries and a drink...

I didn't realise you were using the McThai website. The Big Mac is on there, 78 baht:

I'm glad somebody knows how to get prices for individual items from that site. :thumbup

So, that's about 2.50 USD...probably close to the USA average.

Okay, fast food is not that much different in price then, it appears.

The Big Mac Index is actually a really cool study in purchasing power parity and can signal when a currency is ripe for a correction.

I think you've got your conversion a bit wrong there. £1.50 is about 72thb at present. 300thb is over £6. However agree bottled water is cheaper in LoS particularly small bottles which can be bought for the equivalent of around 10-20p in 7-11s compared to 60p to over £1 in similar places in the UK.

Elephant rides are cheaper in Pattaya.

Chewing gum in bars.

Lighters that shine naked women.

Wooden frogs with a little stick to irritate people with.

Unlimited 3G/EDGE data plan per month 799 baht with DTAC, less with TRUE.

I'm pretty sure that's cheaper than the USA.

Edit in:

That was the pork tonkatsu set. Very nice.

The iced coffee was extra, and they added VAT, so the total was 198 ($6.44 USD). Outrageous :P
