Here is a topic that long term residents understand but has never been discussed. For those who understand the obvious reason(s)why , opine.

I'm unclear as to the premise of the question.

I'm not a golf fan or a reader of the tabloids but it's hard to avoid having heard a lot about Tiger if you watch ESPN Sports Center or read the sports page. Still I have paid some attention because he was an interesting story and, but for an accident of biology, I could have had a Thai/American son or daughter almost his age.

Right from the beginning the stories mentioned his Thai mother. A few years back, certain people in the U.S. criticized him for not acknowledging his African-American heritage. In response he made a somewhat lame joke about being a Asian-African-Scot-English-American due to the white guys in his dad's family tree.

His dad was always very visible and a major influence, but that's understandable. After all, the man was a Special Forces lite colonel. But he never hesitated to acknowledge or be seen with his mother, particularly during his dad's final illness.

I seem to remember him appearing in at least a few golf events in Thailand that were clearly premised on his Thai heritage.

Then when his marriage fell apart and his career got knocked off course due to his philandering, he said that he had been raised as a Buddhist and attributed his problems to having strayed from his religious upbringing.

It took him many years to learn not to pick up a golf ball and tuck it into his G-String when it landed nearby.

Short version: The OP is wrong. Tiger Woods does recognize his Thai heritage.

Cheating on his wife was an example?

I didn't say that.

No I did, with a question mark at the end. You smokers are so dumb!

After quoting my post, suggesting that I inferred it. But you probably don't understand that, either.

This from the idiot who thinks his home country is Thailand because they gave him a visa and maybe a visa extension. I'm not offended when a fool says I'm dumb. :allright

I inferred nothing, I just quoted your post!

Then I asked a question...... see this ?..... you don't know what it means? It actually was not rhetorical.

I am sitting in my home right now, it surely is in Thailand.

You wouldn't have inferred anything if you hadn't added the question to my quote. But as I said, I don't expect you understand.

Yes, you are sitting in your home. You are not in your home country.

True, sorry. I stand by my endorsement of your post though. Tiger Woods does recognize his Thai heritage.

As he said himself he is of mixed origins, something he shares with many of his compatriots. Like many of them, being American is probably more important than paying homage to his ancestry.

Who gives a shit?

If I ever were to over hear someone enquiring why I don't acknowledge my heritage? I'd tell them to f*ck off it's none of their business. :-)

Good point, really. I know that not a lot of Caucasian Americans are expected to recognize their heritage, but throw in a little color, and everyone wants to know where it came from.
