Hi!

I have been in bangkok, Krabi and Phuket, but never in Pattaya.

I just booked 4 weeks holiday in september to Pattaya (flights + hotel) But now i wonder is it really too long time? Will i get bored after few weeks, is there lots of activities? Maybe 3 weeks better?

Usually in thailand i just exercise hard (weight lifting) sunbathing, wandering and exploring around and at the evening time i mess with the ladies...I think 4 weeks are cool, but what say you more experienced ones?

When I go I tend to go for about 4 weeks as it is a long way and not cheap to fly there. I do get bored with the place pretty quickly though as I have been there so many times and tend to get a car and go to other parts of Thailand for a few days. If you are into gym work then there are a few gyms scattered about Pattaya, you can skip across to Koh Larn which is an island just off Pattaya, you can go fishing if that takes your fancy or you can just do the usual getting pissed for days on end, that seems to work for some fellas. Of course it will all depend on what you are like and what you enjoy at the end of the day.

I'd say read a few dozen posts and then ask questions to narrow down what you need more specific info about.

Otherwise you'll get yes it is a good idea and no it's too long.

I doubt you'll see a huge difference over Phuket other than you're not on an island and can travel about more.

Pattaya is a good walking city to wander around. Same goes for Jomtiem. Fun city is big enough to offer good shopping, movie, etc. Easy to hook up a day trip for fishing. BKK is close enough for a couple of days. I never get bored in Pattaya.

I used to do 4 week breaks in Pattaya, I found after the initial week of running wild I got into a routine and a more relaxed lifestyle. With your normal routine of exercising and going to the beach, well that is very much available in Pattaya, more so than other places. Plenty to do here, or nothing if you prefer that. A side trip for 2 or 3 days may break any boredom (Koh Chang, Samet eg).

Thank you guys!

Basicly price is pretty much same whether i stay 2, 3 or 4 weeks. Flights are pricy, accomodation in low-season not so pricy.

And with my lifestyle living in thailand (even holiday mode) is more cheaper than living in Finland. I'll take the risk and go for 4 full weeks, yeaaaah i'll do that!

If i get bored, i will go for island tours, Bangkok, Koh Chang, Samet or so..

If you are from Finland, you maybe interested to know that there is quite a few people from Finland in Pattaya also. I know there is a guy who runs a diving school in Jomtien who is from Finland, sorry i cant remember the name etc ( think its called "fins") or something like that.

I booked Areca Lodge for 4 weeks. I got good low-season price for whole month. There is 2 good gyms, 2 pools etc..and very good reviews. Location is between 2nd and 3rd road, somewhere in Soi Diana, near LK-Metro. I think it's decent location. Short walking distance to beach, soi's and walking street. Another option would be LK-Metropole, but i think i prefer more Areca.

Bigmick: Thanks for the tip! I will do some googling before i go. Scuba diving would be cool to experience! Usually in my journeys i really dont like to mess with another finnish-berserkers. They are so damn wasted (drunk) and not good company to me. I prefer to walk alone or get into foreigners company.

4 weeks is longer than I've ever stayed. I wish I could stay 4 weeks. Time flies by fast. I don't think I could get bored of Pattaya after 4 weeks. At the same time it sounds just long enough to settle down and not be in a hurry every night to party like a rockstar. Perhaps not even taking a girl home every night.

Areca is a good choice.

There is a Suomi Hotel and center in Jomtien, might come in handy if you need any help whilst on holiday.

Which one better: Areca Lodge or LK-Metropole. Both are very close to each other.

I think Areca has much better pool compared to LK, but LK has much better gym

Is that location good for first timer?

I've stayed at both, and much prefer the LK Metropole. The location is excellent...close to Soi Buakhao for baht bus access to South or North Pattaya, close to LK Metro and lots of bars etc.

Location is basicly same for both hotels. So close to each other.

Which one has better gym? MM if you remember can you give details, thanks =)

How about breakfast? I have read that both serves buffet style breakfast. Even the low-season price is pretty similar for these hotels.

I emailed to Areca and they told its all good to smoke on the balcony and pool, but nowhere else (Restaurant example non-smoking)

Damn difficult to choose... Maybe LK really better for me. 4 weeks is long time, dont wanna suffer in shitty hotel =(

And big thanks to all of you! It's great thing that you help me =)

Just had a breakfast at the Evergreen half of the Areca....crap!

But room and reception etc fine.

I will cancel Areca and book LK-Metropole. Pool is small, but who goes to pattaya swimming anyway?

Lk has much better gym (bench press, free weights) and price is same, location too. I just hope that breakfast will be buffet style, becouse i tend to eat & train like crazy during holidays.

And Areca has some stupid smoking policy which i really dont mind..

I lived at the Metropole for 3 1/2 years...never used the gym, didn't have breakfast as an option, but loved the place...wish I was still there!

I can say that the room service offerings were quite good, whether Thai or Western food.

But that was...almost 4 years ago, so keep that in mind.

there 20 metres apart , i wouldn't put too much emphasis that one hotel is better located than the other.

To the OP Areca is fine, probaly one of the top 5 most popular hotels amongst mongers

They dont allow girls under 21(??) into the rooms and also charge for a second or more girl to come back into the room

LK Metropole would be a fine choice also

when its 40 degress and 90% humidity and your from Finland , lots of people

as i said location is a non issue they are virtually opposite each other, dont put to much emphasise on breakfast, one Pattaya is a nightlife city you might find your not rising before noon and secondly their is an abundance of good cheap breakfast options around LK , Soi Bukhao

They are quite a bit more than 20 meters apart. You might be thinking of the Lk Renaissance.

Still, they (all 3 hotels) are on Soi Diana, so they are close.

I know where both are, how far apart would they be then ? 50 meters maximum , my point is they are so close i wouldn't be choosing one over the other becuase its in a better location. Either way all three hotels would be perfect for the op.
