I think London should be proud to host 2012 Olympics but I think they should be embarrassed about opening ceremony as I thought it was very boring just my honest opinion!!!!!

Oops! Really bad news for the French Cycling Team ....       Olympic Cycling - French Team Quarters Raided     By Karolos Grohmann and Paul Casciato LONDON, July 29 | Sun Jul 29, 2012 11:52am

Why is it a "bah humbug" and totally unnecessary pissing on someone's parade by me voicing my opinion? I think London should be proud to host the 2012 Olympics!!!!! I just did not like the opening

You know what you meant, in which case you're still a tool. If you genuinely didn't and were trying to indicate their mistake then I apologise but I doubt very much that's what you initially meant. I'll be watching you closely for any more anti British comments. :whistling:

Is mind-reading part of the Olympics now?

He was making a point of fact in reply to Fornicator's comment, i.e., England cannot win any medals.

Don't forget, the Olympics is not just about Great Britain, nor is everyone required to be wowed by the opening ceremonies. Stating that the opening ceremonies were boring, from one's point of view is simply an opinion, just as there are opinions about movies, books and musical groups.

BTW, did you know there is an android app to follow the schedule and standings? It's here http://androidheadli...ympic-standings

And, for current medal standings ... http://www.nbcolympics.com/medals/index.html

Exactly. A point in order to criticise.

I made no response to that comment, he's entitled to his opinion.

Thanks but I think you need a smart phone for that and as of yet I still haven't got one. :ninja:

Okay, first of all, how would you know he meant to criticize, and secondly, why do you think anyone would care?

Is no one allowed to criticize anything English (since you think it's all about "English") or Great Britain?

Sorry, but that doesn't fly.

If you don't have a smart phone many of your countrymen do.

You are being exceedingly chauvinistic about this whole thing, and you seem to forget it's not just about Britain (or England). It is an international event...

Martin.

you would not want to be in sydney today " not just about Britain (or England). It is an international event.." aussies see it as us and them.

last night england time in the pool,it was supose to be aussies V usa in the 100m swim relay final.

the aussies failed to medal and the french in a fantastic swim get up and beat usa.

the general feeling on talkback radio,"well we didn't win but neither did those bloody yanks"

cause for many years in the main international swim meets has been, aussies V usa,

the rest of the world just was there to make up the numbers.

I doubt that "Good luck" will be enough for England to get medals... ;)

Okay, first of all, how would you know he meant to criticize, and secondly, why do you think anyone would care?

Martin have a look at the comment above and explain to me how I'm supposed to gauge anything other than sarcasm from it? As for whether or not anyone cares, well I don't suppose they do if they're not British and that's fine by me, I never suggested otherwise!

Is no one allowed to criticize anything English (since you think it's all about "English") or Great Britain?

Of course they can. Notice I didn't say anything about Fornicator's comment about the opening ceremony. Referring to the Great Britain team as England is easy enough to make if you live here and the other sports you are a fan of only have an English national side as opposed to a Great Britain one, believe me.

I think that's a little harsh Martin. In that case, your interpretation of chauvinism in my posts on this subject is no more accurate than my interpretation of sarcasm in Idefix's post which is apparently unfounded. Is my real crime here actually starting a pro British thread? I hope not.

'Chauvinism' now there's a word to conjure with. I wonder what the French for that is!!

As I said on the other Olympic thread those dammed frenchies are currently kicking 'perfidious 'Albion's arse. But 'wan prat may me hondiow' which translates to 'there's not only one Buddha day' and we'd say 'every dog has his day'

So a great day for France and I bet Idefix's botterm lip is flapping with excitement while poor old Sam's set about stiffening his upper labia.

Have a wager you two! We can all chip in with ideas for the bet.

How about "Go Team xxx" wherever you are from?

China has the lead now, USA second, but it's early yet.

Chauvinism is what the Olympics are all about anyway. National teams sort of lead to that.

Revel in it.

"Team GB" has a silver and a bronze in cycling and swimming. Wow!

Okay, for you "xxx" = AUS.

Btw, there are over 200 nations represented, I mentioned the two current leaders along with GB.

Sorry if I left out Australia and the other 196+ teams.

Siam Sam.

reading to-days[30th]telegraph they have a quote by Consrevative MP in uk Aidan Burley on twitter about the opening.

"The most leftie Opening Ceremony i have ever seen[its]leftie Multicultural crap" I think it was all about the NHS.don't take much thinking to see what Boyle was about when you understand his background.

there is no way Danny Boyle would produce a conserative establishment style opening.

getting away from that, saw a tv Doco about Indian rail, that stated that it was the largest employer in the world, then was the china army and 3rd was the uk NHS,shit no wonder the costs blow out each year,66million in UK to india and china billion population.

the old leftie channel 9 bloke in oz,eddie mcguire said it was in tribute to "the caring nation that built the welfare state"

Sam for a aussie iam enjoying all the contests no matter what nation is represented,--------------well especially if its aussie beating the GBs or team USA

hope we see ya in pattaya and sink a few bevies

Unfortunately they got stuffed in the Olympic qualifying the previous month. That said, their game against China was great - probably the best of the whole tournament.

If you were around in 1996, you might remember the televised national volleyball championships and the team from Lampang ... great stuff!

I caught it too. The Japanese girl was funny as fuck! I'd love to know what it was that they were shouting before they got down for the lift.

The equivalent of Banzai! I guess. The Japanese girl certainly has style, I saw her snatch earlier, and it was very slick.

I only saw the outline of her snatch, but it looked good :P.

The Japanese girl who got the silver was good tho.

Far from a Scot;

Boyle was born on 20 October 1956 in

Radcliffe, Lancashire (now in the modern day metropolitan borough of Bury, Greater Manchester),[2] into a working-class Irish Catholic family. His mother was from Ballinasloe in County Galway, and his father was born in England to an Irish family.[3]

Hi,

Because of Trainspotting I assumed he was Scottish. Still not really English is he ?
