Hi,

I like Rooney as I feel he has come from a less than perfect environment. Too achieve so much in those circumstances is very rare. I think the reason so many dislike him is that he hasn't done it consistently for England.

So you hold Rooney responsible for United finishing the season without a trophy even though he scored thirty five times last season?

Berbatov appears to be set for Fulham. Could be interesting - a classic model with not very many miles on the clock for next to bugger all. I wonder if Hills will do odds Berbatov v van Persie for total premiership goals.

Carroll to West Ham is the one I look upon with interest! Yes...Liverpool did pay too much for him, but he eventually did come good. To ditch your only option to change things to plan B during a game is almost as daft as their choice to ditch Alonso a few years back! Borini looks Scottish Premier League level at best ! The talk is of "give it time" ......Well all I see in time is a sort of Aston Villa level for evermore.

Hi,

The traditional Big 3, Arsenal,Liverpool and Manchester United, all play today. Chelsea and Manchester City have both started strongly and it will be difficult for the old Big 3 to finish above them this season. I miss Harry and I'm sure he's sent his CV to QPR, Stoke and West Ham.

Hi,

Solid performance from Arsenal as they beat Liverpool at Anfield. RVP does the business for Man Utd as they come from behind at Southampton. Southampton have performed well without winning any points and we will know more about them after they've played some of the smaller fry in the League.

Sadly there is talk of replacing Adkins at Southampton already. They most definately had the beating of both Manchester teams on the day, but his tactical naivete did probably lose both games. I mean everybody knows we play like daemons until the end of Fergie time ! Even more sad is the fact that "Harry the Clown" is being bandied about as a replacement/mentor

Sadly it's just the nature of football these days that they will already be contemplating the sacking of Adkins, although I think it would be an absolute disgrace to sack someone so soon when he has achieved back to back promotions for them. I think he deserves until at least Christmas, regardless of the results over the next few games. I hope you don't mean anything disparaging with your comment about Fergie time, it's common knowledge that most games these days have three to four minutes added time and anything could happen until the final whistle blows. United have been making an art form of that for years now and as much as I agree that Southampton played very well at times in that game and contained United for long periods of time, I think in the end they were guilty of losing concentration and some very sloppy defending. United are in my opinion, most dangerous at the very end of a game so it was no surprise they ended up winning. I agree that the Southampton substitutions didn't help at all, I'm not sure what Adkins was thinking with that and if he isn't getting the results decisions like that aren't going to get the fans on his side. You could do a lot worse than Redknapp if he is appointed the manager (although I think that is only a rumour) as he is a quality manager and knows how to get the best from his players.

Hi,

Agree with sam that he shoould be given time to see how he gets on against the smaller teams. Survival in the League would be a success this year.Arsenal next so they have had a hard start to the League.

A reminder of that goal last season

Hi,

Arsene and Alex must be happy as all their new signings have got off the mark. AVB gets his first win as Spurs outclass Reading. It's unusual to see the top teams at the top of the table so early in the season. Everton v Newcastle tonight in the best game of the round.

It was a Premiership game? :clueless

Lots of folk refer to the weekly game schedule as rounds. It just means "game week" or "matchday".

Not in my world Thomas.

What do you want us to call them?

We'll stick to the format that normal people use if it's okay. When referring to football matches "rounds" are reserved for cup competitions, league matches are exactly that, matches.

The Büttner guy seems a bit handy. Psycho Mk II.

He does, but so did lots of other United players that turned out to be shite in the end even though their first game was impressive. Ask me what I think of him at the end of the season when we have got out title back. :whistling:

And straight in with the "Clown Cut" hairstyle favoured by the majority nowadays ! :bhappy

Sky use the term "round of matches" all of the time.

Hi,

Thanks.Excellent game the other night between Everton and Newcastle.

Yes it was and so was the Champions league match Real Madrid v City. It just had to be Ronaldo that did them , didn't it ! Notice that he doesn't fall over at the drop of a hat now he's left us ! Our game on Wednesday was crap, but at least it was a win!

Congratulations. You're now a friend for life. :D "They" won't win it this year. They haven't got the plumbs required to win it back to back.

Hi,

That game was played at a higher level than the Premiership and City hung in there well.United dont look so hot but have got an easy draw, again! Today we'll see how Arsenal shape up against the best. Hope the Liverpool game goes off without any nasty incidents. Glad to see Southampton having a good win at last. The way they performed against the 2 Manchester clubs must give them a chance of staying in the League.
