From Pattaya to Siemreap

Recommended Posts

In the few months, I will visit Bangkok then to Pattaya and from Pattaya heading to Siem Reap,

Anybody could tell me the best way to travel from Pattaya to Siem Reap? Thank you

The best way costs many times more than some of the other ways. It all depends on your budget, the time you want to spend in SR etc. More info will get you a more accurate answer.

Hi,

A friend made it by big bus a few months ago.

- ~6 hours to Aranyaprathet, about 500 ฿

- immigration/visa

- ~4 hours to SiemRep, about 350 ฿

A very long trip (in time, 10+ hours for 400 km) but he wanted to take pictures... a lot!

You have bus/mini-bus services too, like http://www.kctangkor...le&Id=538974850

Flying certainly is not a bad idea ;)

Read a later post today - seems an airline is flying from U-Tapao to Siem Reap which would be tremendously easy with how close that airport is to Pattaya.

Even without , a couple hours to Bangkok and a 45 minute flight direct beats 10 hours in a bus.

Thank you all for the information.

Is there any flight from Pattaya airport to Siem Reap, or I have back to bangkok first to get a flight to Siem Reap?

Flights will apparently start between U Tapao and Siem Reap in October. You can read about it here.

Thanks again for all information, I'm looking forward for Air Hanuman.

My friend give me more suggestion to take the taxi from Pattaya to the border then take taxi again from border to Siem Reap, more expensive but save a lot of time compare by bus or van. and because I'm travelling with 2 of my friend, that makes me can share a taxi fare with them, I read the fare of Air Hanuman from their facebook, the fare is 199usd (not 99usd the fare they put from their website) for return ( exlude the taxes ) and maybe already full booked too.

So $200 is worth 20 hours of your time and a sore ass and hassle of three guys in a compact car? Go for it.

Even split three ways I have to wonder what taxis will cost for this distance.

I bet you'll find like most airlines the fare on the website is $99 each way, so $198 return.

I have in times past got a cheapie flight from Bangkok to Phom Pehn on Air Asia and then transferred onto the local airline direct to Siem Reap. Bus back from SR to PP and then back to Bangkok. This gives a good mix of travel types and you see some of the country as well. As a side issue I have never been to Cambodia and not spent some time in PP. I do like SR but it aint PP and there is a lot to do there as well, historically as well as sexually!

If you really want to travel overland go to any travel agent in Pattaya and they will do the whole round trip for you including Angkor and accommodation. Its about 12000 baht for say a 3 or 4 day package.

I'm bumping up this topic to ask if anyone has actually done the overland minibus route by Pattaya based travel agency and if so, which one? To me flying is not an option because of my excess luggage while time I have plenty.

We just got back from Siem Reap today. My wife and I went with two other couples. We considered doing a tour out of Bangkok. It sounded good but in the end we flew Air Asia from Don Muang. About a one hour flight. We stayed at the Saem Siemreap Hotel. They picked us up at the airport. It's a VERY good hotel and for about $50 a night, it's a great price. I booked the hotel through Agoda.

Here's a good link;

We had a great deal worked out because there were six of us. We would have had a van all to ourselves. We were not interested in a tour with a lot of strangers. We didn't get to try it because I got out voted. As it worked out, the hotel was great with the airport pickup and the hotel handling their own tours. A $2 tuk tuk ride from the hotel to Pub Street and shopping was convenient.

I have been in those mini vans where it is so full that people have to have baggage on their knees. There is no guarantee of lots of cargo room in a mini van.

Just take a bus from Bangkok to Arunyaprathet, get over the border to Poipet and negotiate a taxi (car or van) to Siem Reap.

You don't really need a travel agency or company.

I am trying to avoid the Bangkok trip and dragging all my shit over the border on foot, hence my post. I know for a fact that there is a direct line from Bangkok that started about 1 year ago where the same bus takes you all the way to PP or Siem Reap. I was just wondering if any of those companies in Pattaya that advertise Pattaya-Siem Reap round trip are doing the same and if anyone had first hand experience here on the board...
