Unwanted redirects.....

Recommended Posts

Intermittently, when trying to access the Pattaya Talk website, I am being redirected to

URL4SHORT.INFO

It seems to happen when I click a link within my Yahoo homepage which should take me to

http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/..... not every time though.

i read around a bit and it is being suggested the problem lies within google at the server level. A redirect on the search engine. Running Firefox under Vista . Anybody know whether there is an issue on my machine?

Up to date on my virus stuff and a full scan recently.

It happened to me this morning after a Google search that resulted in a hit for PattayaTalk. When I clicked on the link into PattayaTalk, I was sent to that dodgy site.

Hmmm.

Someone could...try another search engine and see if it happens with its search results.

Didn't happen when I used Bing, although it doesn't happen every time I come in from my Yahoo Page shortcut!

I noticed this last week.

If you type "pattaya talk forums" into Google search, the link returned takes you to some other site.

I tried bing and yahoo and the search returns a correct link to the forums.

Abort Vista for 7 to start with.

That link is to help me find

FLB.

Happens on my Windows 7 Laptop too!

Still getting this, there was a Firefox update today, I wonder if that will fix it.

No, still get it, mostly a morning thing????

The problem is with the invision software being hacked in a very sophisticated fashion. I received instructions from Invision on how to fix the problem, have followed their instructions.

So, if you still have a redirect to URL4SHORT.INFO, please let me know in this topic.

Had it again a few minutes ago..... any chance your repairs have a delay?

My Norton protection suite caught some attempted re-directs about mid-December, but there haven't been any further attempts for about 10 days (using Windows 8 and Chrome).

Maybe it's in the mysterious cache for PattayaTalk.

I'll check again.

Thanks for the feedback.

Merry Christmas!

And again this AM.

I am suspicious the problem also has something to do with Yahoo.

Turns out there was a piece of code that was reinfecting the web page periodically. I'd clean the page and then 4 or 5 hours later, it would be infected again.

I deleted any old code that wasn't being used and now it seems to have stopped the reinfection.

It should be okay now.

Let me know if it still happens.

A couple of checks yesterday and today ..... so far no issue.

Sounds like it was a clever one.....
